One of my favorite hostels so far! Clean, comfortable rooms, individual bed curtains (lower bunks only), lockers, lights and shelves, as well as hooks and mirrors in the room. Stunning social areas, and they’ve got 3 cute cats and a bunny roaming around :). Staff were super helpful and attentive. Less than a 10 min walk to nearest grocery store. Quietest hostel due to it being tucked away above the street. The doors use keycode which is great as no need to hassle with key deposits or losing them.
To no fault of the property, the journey to the hostel is uphill and tiring (no elevator for the floor). Just be prepared for a trek if you venture down to the squares each day.

The bed is extreeeemely comfortable and the staff is amazing. Bathrooms are clean and the living room/chill area is super cozy. Good for young people. I stayed there for four days and made friends I wanna take for life. The garden is super nice to hangout and chill. I’m definitely coming back to Hopestel Garden next time I’m in Napoli ❤️
The location is a little weird when you get there for the first time but then you realize thats everywhere in Napoli 😅. I think they should have a bigger sign on the building because when I got there I looked for it for 5 min and thought I was on the wrong place. But thats all.

Arriving at the hostel and seeing the old building, I first thought it would be terrible… but when I entered the hostel my mind was BLOWN! This is one of the best hostels I have ever stayed in during my 30 years of backpacking the world. The room and the bed were excellent and comfortable and the in-room toilet/shower is a major plus. What I loved most was the GIANT GARDEN with tables, orange trees, tents, and so much more. Even more amazing were the three resident cats and a rabbit that would hang out with you in the common areas. The check-in desk was also a coffee bar and pub where you could get drinks all day/night. Honestly, I almost didn’t want to leave the hostel and see the city, it was THAT good there. Oh, and the staff are the friendliest people who will direct you to the best places to eat/drink/play/tour and more. I love HOPEstel-Secret Garden so MUCH! I will definitely be back the next time I am in Napoli.
Nothing. This hostel is perfect. It is what every hostel should strive to be.

Where do I start!? - One of the nicest hostels I've been to, everything was cleaned more than daily and the rooms were comfortable while also practical - Great sense of community, the staff are beyond friendly and it was very easy to make friends here. They really foster a positive and welcoming culture here - Many common areas to hang out and chill, the garden is especially lovely even during winter - Great selection of drinks at the bar, especially the homemade limoncello which I unfortunately didn't get to try :( - Despite not being centrally located it is trivially easy to get here, despite all the hills! Best way is to get line 2 to Montesanto and take the lift (doesn't work on Sundays and late nights). Even if the lift isn't open, it's certainly worth the hike up the hill when you get there at the end. Don't make the same mistake as me by taking line 1
More of a heads up than a complaint: the outlets at the beds only support the 'straight' 3-prong plugs, so whatever plug or converter you're using for the rest of the EU won't work there. To be fair this is more of an Italy problem than an issue caused by the hostel. The staff tried their best to solve the problem for me to the best of their ability, and the outlets in the common areas accept the normal EU plug. You can tell the hostel is really good when I'm finding a very minor issue to talk about here :)

I had really amazing time in Hopestel Secret Garden! Room like room - I didn't have much expectations, it was just for sleeping and taking a shower, but still it was kinda comfortable and clean. But common areas are perfect - really huge and beautiful garden, kitchen, big living room, great rooftop, bar in the reception. And also so kind and helpful stuff! I met a lot of amazing people from around the world, we talked a lot, spent nice time and even went for a party togerther 😃 So Erasmus vibe! I loved my stay in this place 🙂 Generally - great experience! Perfect for solo travelers.
I have nothing to complain about.

I loved my stay at Hopestel! The beautiful gardens with hammocks & beds to relax in the shaded areas! I loved the positive quotes on the walls & beaut morals ! The cats & rabbit made me so happy as I love animals! The staff were always very helpful & offered advice on places to visit! There were information boards offering the best places to eat, drink & plenty more! The rooms were comfortable & good size lockers ! There was a big communal area & kitchen which was spacious and lovely decorated!
This is more a suggestion than a dislike.. It would be good to have more hooks in the bathroom to hang clothes as it’s a mixed dorm you have to change in the bathroom :)

This location is absolutely beautiful. It creates an amazing little grotto, with lots of places for people to sit and talk, so it’s perfect if you want to socialize. The staff is very helpful, and has several agreements with locals for things like activities, food, and transportation. The beds were remarkably comfortable. I’m very used to hostel beds leaning towards the firm/hard side, so getting a soft mattress was a very pleasant surprise. Also AC!
This location is a bit tucked away, which could be both a good and a bad thing, depending on the individual. I will say the frequent “bathroom checks” were a bit annoying, but points for cleanliness.

The hostal is beautiful, the set up, the garden, the people, the hosts. We loved absolutely everything! Our room had private bathroom so it made it all easier for us. If I am back to Napoli it will surely be here.
Not that I didn't like but I still have a few suggestions: Soap and shampoo dispensers in the private bathrooms. Maybe considering a breakfast included option in the reservations, specially in the garden area. Maybe to put an air extractor in the bathroom, the nice cleaning prevents the natural humidity to get in, but it is still not enough.

The garden is beautiful. I love that there’s two cats, a kitten and a little bunny running around. I have a cat and a bunny at home so it made it feel really homely and welcoming. Cicci needs his own instagram 😂 the staff are all lovely and friendly
There should be more signs outside and up the stairs to the hopestel, when I arrived I was quite confused

Very nice place. Kitchen well equipped, lots of space in the fridges. Plenty of bathrooms. Beautiful garden. Nice and helpfull staff. There is a cat. Close to the train and many great places to eat. Peaceful neighbourhood. All things considered, I would stay there again.
Lost some things at the hostel, wrote to them about it, to ask if they turned up somwhere, they never replied to my email or message via booking. They did reply to the messages with questions before the stay, but after the stay was over - radio silence.
