Amazing Experience at Holiday Inn Johannesburg! I had the pleasure of staying at the Holiday Inn in Johannesburg, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The hotel exceeded all my expectations, offering impeccable service and a comfortable environment. The staff were incredibly friendly and professional, always ready to assist with a smile. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well-maintained, with all the amenities needed for a relaxing stay. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep after a long day of exploring the city. The hotel's restaurant served delicious meals, and the breakfast buffet was a standout – fresh, varied, and catering to all dietary preferences. The location was perfect, situated close to major attractions and business hubs, yet offering a quiet retreat from the city's hustle and bustle. The security measures in place also provided peace of mind, making the stay even more enjoyable. Whether you're visiting Johannesburg for business or leisure, I highly recommend the Holiday Inn. It’s a great combination of comfort, convenience, and excellent service. I’ll definitely be returning!

Hotel was very clean throughout. Room was large, clean and had the required amenities including all the socket types. Bed and pillows very comfortable. Breakfast was buffet and was very good. Dinner was from a set menu which was the same every night but had enough choices for 4 nights. Large portions, steak was really good. Hotel compound was really lovely, big and relaxing. Staff were all very friendly.

Swimming pool was non-functional and unkempt - it looked abandoned. Hotel transport/taxi service is incredibly exorbitant and a rip-off. They quoted us 400 rands to Apartheid Museum which eventually cost us just 42 rands with Bolt taxi service. Don't use them! Hotel location is supposed to be in or close to a bad/dangerous location, so we were advised not to walk around the area. Though we ignored the advice and walked to and from Constitution Hill, which is not far away, without any issues. We are a black couple.

We arrived in Johannesburg a little apprehensive about safety after having a less than positive taxi ride, taking us around many unsafe areas. When we checked in, we were assured the hotel was in a safe area and we would be safe in the gated space. This was true - it was great having security and gates around the hotel. The staff were all so friendly - from front desk to housekeeping to porters to chefs to servers, transport and security. Always smiling, always asking after us. Nothing was too much trouble. We made use of the hotel shuttle - our driver Jimmy was brilliant - calm, friendly and knowledgeable, and his aim was to keep us safe at all times. We also used the hotel’s travel arm - going to Soweto, Apartheid Museum and Pilanesberg. Our drivers were incredible - courteous, patient, knowledgeable and friendly. I loved the little details at the hotel - the patterns on tje velour chairs showed just how focused on the little things the staff are. Great value for money - would recommend!

The bed was a little too firm for me. It could do with a mattress topper.

Exceptional service by the staff. A special thanks to Millian who was of great assistance on Sat. As a black woman, you get nervous when you have to request another black woman for service. Most of the time, you are not recieved well. However, with Millian, it was a pleasanr experience. This proves that the staff is well trained and most importantly, is taken care of and is valued by the employer. So this is my view when it comes to staff behaviours in hospitality or retail service.

The location raises eyebrows but i appreciate the antiqueness of the building.

The location was perfect for my purpose (which was an event held at St Johns College Houghton) The hotel was unique in that it had old fashioned charm and was not a generic modern hotel.

2 small things: a desk lamp that had no light bulb; the door to the room would not lock when leaving the room. Both of these issues were reported to Reception and were quickly corrected. The receptionist who I dealt with was 'Millian' and I thought she was gracious, charming and efficient.

Staff was warm and very helpful. Food was very tasty and we got treated to a sumptuous Christmas breakfast on the 25th December. We also enjoyed the spacious well equipped gym.

Was disappointed by the initial room I was checked into whose door couldn't lock and the aircon malfunctioned!, over and above that there was cold water in the shower in the second room we were transferred to until the anomaly was fixed. There is need for an extractor fan in the bathrooms to deal with bad smells after toilet usage especially after doing a #2.

The breakfast and dinner time were very accommodative. The breakfast variations were ayoba and the taste. I liked the waiting area and how staff welcomed us and assisted us through the processes. I liked the shower utilities, availability of hands and body wash, conditioner, body wash in a big bottle. There was no need for us to ask for them in the morning after taking a shower at night.

Single bed, are very singular. They are very small. The shower door was very difficult to close.

The receptionist Millian was very helpful. She provided me with all the information and went our of her way to make me feel welcome and at home. Nkosi - waiter was very welcoming and was available for any enquiries pertaining to the restraunt. I felt at home.

The food. The options were very few on the ale cate menu and no offense but most dishes were made to appease local taste. Maybe add international cuisine or neutral recipe for outsiders .

High standards are maintained akin to a 4 star hotel. The room was spacious, well lit and had a small fridge which is a necessity for long-term guests. Complimentary coffee, tea and bottled water was provided. I used to buy additional coffee and water and it was safe to store juice and other perishables in the fridge. The TV was large and had many channels. I enjoyed watching news on BBC and CNN.

Once you enter the property, you already feel a sense of safety around you and forget that you are in Johannesburg and just a minute away from Berea and Hillbrow. I have stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions and always feel at home at this property. The host always goes out of his way to make me feel like a valued guest.

When booking online, the booking does not always pull through to the Hotel in real time. I always experience difficulty with reception locating my online bookings, sometimes to the extent were the booking has to be made over the counter, loosening out on the special deal prices offered online.
