The location was great, just minutes outside Keystone and close to all the major attractions around Mount Rushmore and perfect for exploring the Black Hills. The cabins were cute, with a nice covered porch outside, and it suited us fine for the 5 days we stayed. Ours had a mini fridge and coffee machine, ice was provided, cleaning service was available, and there was air conditioning. The pool was heated, and was great after a long day of sightseeing, and the restaurant on the property had excellent food. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

There was no fan in the bathroom, so the steam from the shower warmed up the room a bit, but the air conditioning helped manage that. Also, the property is right on the 16A Highway, so it was a bit noisy with traffic, but only during the day.

Very conveniently located to reach Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse. Yet not too close to the bustle of Keystone. It is situated next to a highway, which concerned us at first. But it really quiets down at night and it didn't negatively impact our sleep.

We had a squirrel attack the exterior wall, gnawing on the wood for several hours our last night there. But we don't fault the facility. When you are in the woods, the critters can make themselves pests when they want to!

The Powder House Lodge is centrally located just 10 minutes from Mount Rushmore and surrounding attractions, including the beautiful drives in the Black Hills Forest. We chose a cabin with a fireplace, which turned out to be at the top of the hill above the lodge and restaurant, nestled in the pines with a very private view of the forest from our large deck. The restaurant was fabulous with great food and wonderful staff. It was obviously a popular, highly recommended spot in the local area, as there were customers from other Inns and the local area.

We loved everything about powder house lodge! The rooms were clean, comfortable, pet friendly, and pleasantly located. The restaurant served amazing, large sized portion meals. We can't wait to return next year!

The only thing I could find as a negative is that they're not open all year. We wanted to stay again, but we're lucky enough to have gotten a stay right before they close for the season. Wonderful place!

Loved it! It's very "log cabin" with a restaurant on site which was really good!! I had hot tea and a salad. I loved all the trees around the property and how close it is to downtown Keystone. The perfect stay if you want a little "mountain" getaway. 🧘🏻‍♀️💖🌞

My room was slightly musty upon arrival but they left the window open to let it air out and it was fine, kind of added to the "log cabin" vibe actually. 🌲🌲🪵🐿️

The room was really clean and smelled great. The location was awesome, nearby all the attractions yet nestled in the woods. The staff was helpful and kind - even mailed back my daughter's stuffed animal after she left it there! We had breakfast at the restaurant and it was delicious and affordable!

I can't think of anything to improve upon. I felt safe, I got a great nights sleep, and the scenery was amazing!

I really like how friendly the staff was, clean, stayed in both cabin and two queen room, had all the amenities we needed, looking forward to staying here again 👍

In the two queen room I had to pull the filter and clean the air-conditioning Finns as it was not cooling after that ac worked fine, the cabin the fridge was turned off but not drained and leaning forward so when I turned on drained on the floor, we cleaned it

This place was perfect after driving for 15 hours. It was a bit difficult to find in the dark, but I imagine if you arrive with some sunlight it would be alright. Our room was clean, it had a microwave, mini fridge and ac—definitely my immigrant mom’s favourite stay from our road-trip. The view was absolutely beautiful when you wake up and it’s only a 15 minute or so drive from Mount Rushmore, and 30 minutes from Rapid city if you need to purchase some things before going back on the road. A great stay and would come here again!

Loved everything about it, worth the value!

Staff very friendly, attached restaurant very good food and wait staff. Towels were the thickest I have ever experienced. Hot water at the sink and shower was there almost immediately. Price was right given the area is a tourist destination.

No problem for us, but some may not like motel parking. Ice was provided but would have been nice to have an ice machine.

We loved the sense of seclusion and the quietness of the location, The staff were very friendly and wanted to please. We stayed for three days in the All-American cabin, visiting the local attractions during the day and relaxing on the front porch swing in the evening. We were greeted almost every morning with a few deer having breakfast outside our window. It was a very pleasant and relaxing stay!

The only complaint I would have was that the water out of the tap turned "off color" on occasion.
