It is so closed from the station, especially in winter time it was more exhausted if you take your luggage with you walking through the snow. The breakfast is so great. Many to choose and always change the meal everyday do we are not getting bored with the menu and taste was so great. They also have croissant and raisin bun which are nice. In the evening they prepared rice curry for free. The coin laundry is also good. The receptionist especially the gentleman who welcoming us on 25th December night so polite and so helpful. Definitely we will back if any chance we visit Hakodate again

Staff is very helpful with your questions, and I found myself liking the breakfast a lot, despite lacking a wider variety.

The location is great for a night stay before transferring to a Shinkansen or other far destination, but conversely the scheduled trains heading into Hakodate are not as convenient. If looking for things to do in town is the priority, you should get a closer hotel, otherwise this is perfect. Breakfast items were also untranslated at the time of my visit, but a translator app solves this easily.

Toyoko Inn Hokkaido Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto* Best of the six hotels I stayed in. You can easily spot the hotel from the Shin-Hakodate (shinkansen) station -- an actual 3-minute walk! Clean, comfortable, great fresh, clean air (because it's Hokkaido), and breakfast was alright (3.5/5). Would like to say thank you to front desk Saito San, usually you feel they are polite but Saito San is really a naturally warm and nice lady.

Don’t have disposable slippers provided, only provide room slippers which worn by other guest which is not hygienic and to get disposable need to pay.

I limped into the hotel accompanied by 2 JR Railway people, because I had taken a bad fall on a station escalator. The hotel staff was caring and also quick to understand that I needed to be in a room and resting. They also quickly understood I needed some ice for my eye which was turning black. They also helped me getting my 2 bags to the room. The hotel had a “curry service” for dinner, which wasn’t advertised through Booking, but was a delicious surprise. I had to leave before having any breakfast, but I had experienced an amazing breakfast buffet at another one of their hotels at Narita airport. When I say amazing, I mean amazing. I like this hotel chain, and think that it has incredible value for what I paid. I will be at another one of their hotels when I arrive in Shinjuku.

There was nothing I didn’t like!

The location is great, right next to the shinkansen station. The bed was very firm but we managed to get a good night's sleep. The included breakfast was a nice surprise and we enjoyed it. We were out when they served the also included dinner but it smelt like a good curry. A great little one nighter to break up the journey.

We booked this hotel due to a change of plans. We needed to be next to the Shinkansen station since we had a early morning traing. The hotel position is very convenient. We booked two rooms since they were listed as single rooms, but honestly we could easily fit two people. We stayed in a smaller rooms during our travel in Japan, usually listed as double room/couple rooms, but were not next to comparison. Bathroom size was also above average. They provide free breakfast, but if you cannot stay they provide a small take away bag with some bread products. As much as the gesture is appreciated, I would have liked a little more that some simple bread. Perhaps a sandwich would do. Staff very nice and welcoming, they do speak english.

Nothing to say negative, perhaps only the breakfast thing mentioned above.

Location next to the Shinkansen station, great for taking it back to Tokyo or Sapporo (limited express train) if you’re going the other way. Hotel offers free Japanese curry dinners, guess to make up for the lack of options in area. All in it served its purposes, staff were friendly and rooms were clean.

Not many shops and eateries in the area but I suppose it suffice as most people are passing thru or hoping off in rental cars.

It was brand spanking new hotel so that is an immediate bonus for any traveller. It is very clean because it still has that brand new vibe, but unfortunately the staff did not empty my trash bin for 3 days. But the price is very much worth it, breakfast is included and so is a lite curry dinner. For what you pay, it is certainly a bargain.

The room is very small and cramped. There is nothing in the surrounding areas, only the train station. I had to walk 1.5 hours to get to the supermarket on my last night.

3 mins walk to the Shin-Hakodate station. Basic but with all the amenities you need. Staff, though, speaks limited English tries to help and is accommodating. Free breakfast and curry rice dinner is provided - this is great coz there is literally nothing much else around here. But works very well if you have to catch an early Shinkansen or if you arrive late at night. They have washing machines and dryers which is great!

There is no convenience stores or restaurants nearby. They have vending machines though.

Just across the road from JR Shin Hakodate, super convenient to go to Hakodate and zip off to other parts of Hokkaido on JR Pass. Comfortable beds, clean room and bathroom too. Breakfast was good and satisfying. We faced the mountain and could see the sun rise. Staff didn’t speak much English but that’s sorted out with translator device and their very pleasant attitude to help.

The pillow didn’t suit us too good… perhaps that would be the only less than ideal item.
