Love Eight Bells ! They actually do ring the bell for tea time and meals. Still has an old school charm. We went to Eight Bells for our honeymoon 40 years ago and went back for our 40th wedding anniversary. We also received a complimentary bottle of wine which was a lovely surprise. Staff are also so friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately, the only little gripe we had is that we had to wait a long time for our dinner to arrive.

Wonderful location, helpful staff, good pool, and lovely rooms. Close to Cango caves and other good days out such as the horses at Outeniquamoon.

This is not about the property but about Booking.com:- we booked and I have the screenshot of, the Mountain View room. Booking.com did NOT send the room selection through to 8 bells. They were able to provide the correct room as they were not full, but my suggestion is that having booked, you contact the property to confirm your room type

A beautiful location, very good facilities such as tennis courts, swiming pool, bowling green, horses etc; property immaculately kept.

No fridges in the rooms - this is essential in South Africa in the summer. Everybody wants somewhere to keep cold water, milk, fruit etc. The Alpine cabins have no block-out curtains on the window, only thin net curtains, so it is impossible to rest in the hot afternoons and to sleep past 5am in the summer.

Breakfast was excellent. The view from our cabin was awesome. Staff very friendly and helpful. The walking trails at times challenging but wonderful particularly the red route through the proteas.

The cabin could have had a double or queen bed rather than two separate single beds. A soft blanket would have been nice. It was cool at times and the bedding was comfortable, but too clinical rather than soft and comforting..

The charm of a Country Hotel is perfectly demonstrated at Eight Bells. Beautiful gardens, relaxed but professional service and lovely food. All staff are well trained, professional and friendly. We arrived on a cold windy afternoon and the gentleman at reception accommodated all our requests. We will visit again and plan a longer stay.

Nothing.

The hotel really had an old world charm. Families will enjoy the play room, outdoor play area, horses and daily donkey rides. Really well kitted out for children. We had delicious food, both dinner and breakfast. We had a 2 room suite which was a little tired and simple, but comfortable.

The WiFi was intermittent which was frustrating at times.

The friendly and welcoming nature of all the staff. The high quality of food & drinks at breakfast, dinner and afternoon tea. The outdoor facilities be it the walking trails or sports facilities rounded off a perfect stay.

Nothing.

Reception was friendly and professional. It was raining when we arrived. We were met at our car with an umbrella. We had a lovely Swiss Chalet with beautiful views. Chalet was neat, clean, well equipped and comfortable. We enjoyed pre-drinks at the bar with some friends. The barman was friendly and very informative about the history of Eight Bells Inn. Breakfast was delicious. Staff was very friendly. Would recommend Eight Bells Inn any time of the day.

Staff are amazing, love the tea & coffee at 11h00 and 16h00 facilities are unique. Milkshakes are out of this world. Garden is stunning.

WiFi is inconsistent but not a train smash. Things to improve: Paint the outside Fix broken wooden railings or chairs around the resort

The room/lodge was comfortable, spacious and clean. It had a lovely view. Check-in was quick and the staff offered us another, more comfortable and quiet room. Dinner was great and the dining room was prepared with care and good taste. Breakfast was also great. Will certainly return!
