A hidden gem, a home away from home. Cute little guesthouse that was welcoming and had comfortable beds. My children loved it here! At this point in our trip they were homesick and this stay was like being at home! There were kids books, some toys and they even got to pick up a guitar again! They have missed their guitars a lot so this was an added bonus. Very good location. Himeji is a little gem town, it’s so much more than a castle. We enjoyed exploring the back streets. Had the best food of our 18 day trip in cute little hidden restaurants. Don’t regret our decision to stay. The castle and the gardens deserves half a day of exploration at the minimum.

Property was very clean and well organized and the hosts were more than accommodating.

This is not a complaint but a suggestion. There are free earplugs in the washroom area which is very generous. Two men in my room snored like chainsaws. The earplugs really didn’t do anything and I couldn’t sleep. Luckily I remembered I had an extra pair of my own earplugs tucked away in my bag and they blocked out the noise. I fell fast asleep. So I guess all I’m saying is, when the current earplugs run out and you go to buy more, maybe there are some stronger ones!

The owner is one of the nicest people I have ever met. His kindness and hospitality were very nice, especially since this was my first stop on my Japan travel. There was free breakfast included (which I didn't remember booking but was a very nice surprise), which he and his wife made themselves, so very delicious! He has books where all the travellers can write according to which country they are from. Checkin was quick and easy, and all the facilities are top-notch!

Unfortunately I had a snorer in my room so loud you could literally hear him from the street XD, but that's not really the hostels fault. Otherwise, no complaints

We had a lovely stay for one night and I think it would also be a great place to stay for a few days as a base to explore Kansai (Osaka, Nara, Kyoto, Kinosaki etc). It is definitely worth staying in Himeji overnight to enjoy the castle/gardens nice and early and be able to explore the town. Our host was wonderful and communicated really well with us, suggesting where to get breakfast when we forgot to ask (our fault!). We were a honeymoon couple, but I think it is also really well set up for families or larger groups of friends. The house has a lovely lived in vibe with all the stickers and postcards - it felt like staying at a friends house rather than a hotel! Very much recommend :)

An adorable little guesthouse run by a charming Japanese man and his family. They were incredibly helpful and hospitable, and had a host of suggestions for us to make the most of our brief stay, including sharing his supplies so we could enjoy the local bath house. Very attentive hosts! Himeji isn't a bustling metropolis so we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the local neighbourhood. Excellent location, a short walk to the main sights and Himeji station. Some noise bleed into our room from the common hallway but that's the nature of Japanese construction.

It was a great experience to stay in such a professional guesthouse. Actually this is the cleanest guesthouse I’ve ever been so far. Tomo-San is really hostile and professional. He has great travel photos which we can admire freely. The house has four toilets and two bathrooms for the guest and rules have been made for the usage of the public places, which is best for the sake’s guests having a good rest. By the way, the breakfast was very nice and no worries for non-Japanese speaker.

We had a wonderful stay at the Shironoshita guesthouse. Tomo-san is a great host, and everything is perfectly organized and clean. The location of the guesthouse is also perfect, within walking distance to the Himeji castle, restaurants, a convenience store as well as a local train station very close. Also the breakfast was very delicious. We can definitely recommend it.

Nice budget option for a night in Himeji. Lovely and clean little guest house with very friendly hosts. We booked out the 6 bed (3 bunks) room for my wife and 2 young boys and was perfect. If staying longer probably want something a bit bigger. Close to a local station one stop from Shinkansen station so very easy transfer coming in from Hiroshima. Short 15 minute walk to the castle which was perfect.

Contact with the owners was excellent. They speak English fluently, give their best to make sure everything runs smooth for everyone. And we spent nice time discussing about travelling. The common space is next to the entrance, which allows to meet other guests easily while being far enough from the rooms, which allows quiet sleep. The room is a neat dormitory (beds all have a curtain for privacy). The castle is at walking distance. I recommend this one.

Extremely convenient location, nice building setup, good facilities, tasty breakfast, and, above all, incredibly friendly, thanks to Tomo-san. The sort of place where you really feel very sorry when you’re leaving that you can’t stay longer. I’d love to visit again!
