Beautiful, well maintained property. I mostly appreciate that they have left most of the natural environment in place. You will hear and see so many different types of birds. My cabin was immaculately clean and everything worked. Having the kitchenette area with pots, pans, utensils, fresh filtered water was a bonus. Being able to explore the farmers market in San Ignacio and bring your goodies back to prepare is a big plus and saves you money. They have a really nice hiking trail on the property and it's totally worth doing at least once. The staff was always there to help, no matter if you're thinking about a tour or local exploration they have the answers and work with trustworthy, reputable tour companies, taxi/shuttle operators, etc. I would definitely recommend staying at Maya Mountain and when I return to the area it would be my first choice. Thank you all for making my vacation a cherished event!

The traffic on the road in front of the property can get a little annoying but there are countless ways to escape it. The cabin I stayed in called Trogon was the one closest to the road, I expect it's quieter in the othe cabins.

Maya Mountain is great if you want to spend time surrounded by nature. It has a beautiful surrounding, and the trail in the forest was a daily relief for me. If you want to be at the center of things - then this is not the place for you.

The lodge is located 20 kin walk from the town and the road leading to it is dark. So you can’t walk to it after sunset. If you have a car - it is not a problem at all. If you don’t have one (like me) - take into account that leaving after sunset is a bit of a hassle. I solved it by having dinner early and the taking a taxi to the lodge, or by opting for dinner in the lodge. There’s no alcohol at all - if they served beer it would have been nice

The location, close to the border with Guatemala, and in the forest, away from the hustle and bustle from San Ignacio town. The cabin was huge, clean and a well equipped kitchen. The porch was fantastic. Hearing the plethora of birds singing early in the morning. Being surrounded by the amazing flora, and the number od butterflies all over the place. Being entertained by a snake hunting gekos the last night we were there. Tge staff were amazing, friendly and helpful, with an incedible knowledge of the flora and fauna around us.

The noise from the nearby main road was a bit much at times. The mosquitos were annoying. Leaving the place!!

Stayed in the Hibiscus room. Nice well equipped suite. Good size. Property is out of town but not far so convenient if you have a car. Jungle setting with its own hiking trail. The onsite restaurant is convenient and has good dinner food.

The shower only had one temperature and that varied on what it may be - too cool or too hot, you never knew. One evening we came back and the floor was so wet with humidity that it was a skating rink; we had to mop up with towels before anything else. While the restaurant is nice and good, order early as it’s very slow. Also, the breakfast buffet wasn’t great.

We had a brilliant time. The facilities are so well designed. We had beach towels and shoe towels in addition to the usual set of towels. So useful when we did activities and helped us keep the room and our belongings clean. The clean laundry bag was returned with matched socks by staff - the care was exceptional! There was plenty of hot water around the clock, which other hotels in Belize and Mexico have struggled with. The pool area and gardens were beautiful. We had a lovely garden tour and reception staff helped us design and book an exciting day trip to Pine Ridge Forests. We enjoyed the hotel breakfast and easily ordered dinner from good San Ignacio restaurants. Cannot wait to come back!

Nothing.

The grounds of the property are lovely - including the short nature trail! The staff, particularly Cesar, were very helpful in booking my tours and transport across the border - highly recommend!

I found the room I was in to be quite bare and loud at night, although I personally enjoyed the sound of rain. The property is just outside of San Ignacio so you don’t get the benefits of town or really feel in nature. There is a restaurant on site and I thought the food was good quality but the menu was limited and it was much more expensive than the restaurants in town

What I loved most about staying at the Maya Mountain Lodge was the friendliness of all the staff. Cesear was the first person to greet us kindly and give us all the information. Levi was wonderful when we had to change rooms because of an unusual problem with the electricity and we very much enjoyed the complimentary tour of the medicinal garden on the grounds with Carlos. I loved being in the swimming pool looking up all the tropical plants. It felt like a slice of heaven. We also had some wonderful meals prepared by great people in the dining room. Thank you to all of you.

We loved everything about this lodge! The staff was wonderful, so helpful and friendly. We ate dinner and breakfast each one time, and thoroughly enjoyed the meals. Wonderful, local cuisine cooked by family of the staff, with a set menu for each meal. The lodge is clearly a little older, but appears to be well maintained and has a lot of charm. While the lodge is located surprisingly close to the town, its surrounded by jungle and feels more remote. There are tons of birds and other small animals to watch, especially early in the morning. The pool area was nice, but not heated, so was a bit too cold for us to swim. However, if its really hot this would probably be more refreshing. Great location, with a very short drive to many restaurants and the San Ignacio Saturday market. We would definitely stay here again!

At night, small animals dropped fruits on our roof from the trees above and it kept us awake quite a bit. When I mentioned this to the staff, he apologized and said they would trim the branches back away from the roof. But clearly this was par for the course when staying in the jungle! Would have been nice for the pool to be a bit warmer, but we were aware that electricity (i.e. pool heater) is incredibly expensive in the area, so we understood why it was cool. There was nothing else we didn't like about the lodge!

We stayed in the cabin named "Toucan" for a week. It was well appointed, with everything you need for a stay of that length. There was a great porch with chairs, table and a hammock for just hanging out. The staff were very helpful and answered all of our questions and requests. The restaurant's breakfasts were great! There was a nice hiking trail and a pool for cooling off. The Eden Valley Mayan Kitchen is a short walk up the road for a cooking class and bird watching. The location near San Ignacio was great for taking tours to Mayan ruins, botanical gardens, butterfly farm, chocolate farm, caves, city market, etc.

A highway went past the Lodge, which spoiled the natural setting with cars, trucks and motorcycles passing all day and night. It was a minor thing and not a deal breaker. I see no way to fix the problem short of putting up sound barriers along the property at a great expense. As good as restaurant's breakfasts were, the other meals were chicken, chicken and more chicken. This was not a big problem as we went elsewhere to eat; there were plenty of options in the nearby town of Santa Elena and Ignacio. The addition of some bird feeders near the restaurant would be nice to pull in some birds to watch.

Lovely property Comfortable bed Hammock and outdoor area Friendly staff - easily contacted through WhatsApp

Would have loved a shop on site - there is the option to buy drinks but they had run out during my stay. 20 minute walk to nearest supermarket Room smelt a little of damp Food has to be pre-booked - I understand why (not many staying at there at any time) but was never sure whether I would need food after tours or not - or what time I was returning
