The location was good, close to the Gard du Nord station and the metro station, so the connection is very good, a few hundred meters away there are decent bars and cafes, as well as food stores, also nearby in the Montmartre region. The hotel is easy to find, nice staff, clean room.

The area around the hotel may seem unsafe to some travelers, but we had no problems. The hotel room is super small, it was difficult to find a place to put your things, so it might be a problem for those who staying longer with more things. The windows isolate the street noises well, but you could still hear the whirring of large fans from the roof of a nearby building. Also, upon arrival at the hotel, a deposit of 100 Euros is taken (in cash or by card), regardless of whether the accommodation has been paid or not, which is returned upon check-out. The choice of food for breakfast is quite limited, strangely there were no vegetables.

Recently stayed at Maison Barbes for a birthday trip to the city - and this hotel is perfect for a few nights of exploring and seeing the best of Monmartre. Huge thank you to all of the staff who made the stay feel really special - attentive, polite and willing to offer advice on what to see in the area. Overall the hotel is stunning, really well designed and comfortable. Very well connected with metro routes, and not far from Gare Du Nord too which is super helpful for getting around. Breakfast was good to have as well, but plenty of boulangeries near by as well, so you have plenty of choice. Would definitely stay again - bear in mind that you're in Pairs and space comes at a premium, but this is boutique at its best.

Gym is very small, but good enough for an early morning workout before hitting the city. Agree with some other reviews that the area isn't the best after dark, but had no issues if you're able to ignore anyone selling cigarettes outside the metro.

Stayed here during the Paris Olympics and had a very pleasant stay. The hotel and room decors are quite well done. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and provided local recommendations for restaurants/shopping - Ariana, Jewel, Tamuna, Dani (not sure if I spelt the names right). There was daily breakfast available as well which was good and a basic bar during nighttime. Another plus was the basic fitness center with treadmill/cardio and basic weight machines which I personally found quite useful. Presence of a fitness center was a requirement for the trip and not all the hotels in comparable size/price range had fitness centers. There was a sauna as well which I didn't end up using though. Hotel is located very close to the 2 and 4 metro lines. Also close to Montmartre/Sacre Couer Basilica. Overall highly recommended

Room size and fitness center size is on the smaller side but this seems to be an issue with lot of hotels in Paris so can't really do much about it. Location is not the best, not that many great options for restaurants/cafes nearby but metro is very close so easy to go to other parts of Paris or can go to Montmartre/Place du Tertre which is within walking distance.

Location was super close to Metro Station, literally across the road. And like we intended to check out Montmartre region, it was very close to it and the back stairs of Sacre le coer... if go towards the church theres a tone of option for food.. the Hotel has a super charming vibe, the dark colours and low light is so intimate, all the staff we spoke to was super friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable, the shower had super hot water, and the room deco, following the entrance deco was super cute.

The surroundings of the metro station are very sketchy at down/night, with a lot of guys trying to sell you things, mostly cigarettes. The hotel is a 4 star hotel as it is advertised, but in my opinion it didn't feel like a 4 star hotel.. not that it wast good, it was...but the room we stayed in was super small with a small bathroom, I do understand we got a cheap deal of last minute and got the cheapest option available... but for the price I was expecting more... and the room view, to the back of the other buildings.. a bit weird, could not really keep curtains open. There was a lot of dust everywhere in the room, as if it hasn't been cleaned

My daughter and I stayed in Maison Barbès For 4 nights and we cannot praise the place and the staff enough. We had booked the correct dates, but for next year my mistake. When i called the hotel, I talked to Arianna who was so understanding and allowed us to change the date at the rates for 2024 and gave us a nicer room with a balcony which was so lovely of her and the hotel. Fariel another of the hotel staff let us have an early check in time when we arrived. The room itself was beautiful and clean with a gorgeous bathroom (no bath but fantastic shower and Rituals shampoos, etc.) We had some lovely evenings on the balcony chatting and seeing the sun come down. The hotel is 1 minute away from the metro and the staff gave us really clear instructions on how to get around the city (Fariel, drew us an outstanding Micky mouse logo when we were figuring out how to get to Disney!) All in all it was a lovely experience staying there with full WiFi and a number of tv channels (we got hooked on Bridgerton and Queen Charlotte on Netflix perfect escapism!), room was cleaned every day. We will be back! Loved it.

This is a gem of a hotel. Room was small but perfectly formed with an excellent bathroom. Bed and pillows were so comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. As many other visitors have mentioned, the area outside the hotel is not salubrious but it’s a really great location just across the road from a metro station and an easy ten minute walk to Gare du Nord. Also less than ten mins to Sacre Coeur and Montmartre. Plus I never felt unsafe as a woman on my own in the area but I am a seasoned traveller who is comfortable in most scenarios.

Absolutely nothing. It was an excellent hotel in a great location.

Maison Barbès is a stylish small oasis on the Southern end of a rougher part of town and in the Southwestern corner of Montmatre, a mere 10 minutes from Sacré Coeur. The staff is exceptionally friendly, trustworthy, reliable, helpful open and professional (and this is in relation to upper class houses). The metro stations main entrance (steps up) appears tough in the beginning but you won't be harassed. Alternatively, enter the station via the two staircases down some 30 m on the right on Bd de la Chapelle. Really enjoyed our stay!

Location of the hotel was very convenient to the train line and a nice hike to Montmartre. It is very hilly in the area, so the walk is uphill to Montmartre but an easy walk and well worth it. Easy commute to the tourist areas of Paris and well worth the money saved by not staying near the Eiffel Tower. The rooms were exceptionally clean and very comfortable.

Getting off the train, we were concerned about the area. Very dirty and homeless people living under the train line. Nobody bothered us (we were traveling with kids), and we did feel safe after settling into the room and venturing out.

The room was very nice and clean, although it felt a little cramped up in the rafters on the top floor. The bed and pillows were SUPER comfortable - best night's sleep! Good shower. Staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Feriel - such a lovely person who looked after us so well. Located within walking distance to Gare du Nord which was convenient for us.

Bumped our heads a couple of times on the sloped ceiling/bulkhead on one side of the room, as the room was on the top floor with the rafters.

Great hotel, staff really friendly and couldn’t do more for you. Room was comfortable and clean. Good location close to the metro. Enjoyed the hotel. Just a shame there was no food other than breakfast available.

The lights in the room were not bright enough, especially getting ready to go out. Had to have the bathroom light on and door open for better light, used my phone torch one night to get ready. The The Safety of the area especially around the metro. Had been warned about pick pockets. Did not feel safe at the entrance but was ok once on the metro.
