View from our room was amazing. We got the Deluxe Sea View room. There were floor to ceiling French windows which gave us excellent views of the Sheephaven bay. The hotel arranged a superb 3-course dinner for us in their Marbles restaurant. Food was very tasty and aesthetically tantalizing to look at it. They made us feel very special! The spa on the next day was absolutely brilliant! We had the private Hot tub booked along with the entire suite of the Thermal spa. The Canadian hot tub overlooked the Sheephaven bay and they offered us complimentary Prosecco shots as well to enjoy in the hot tub. 2 hours spent in absolute bliss in the Shandon Spa. We left with beautiful memories, as this was our anniversary weekend!

There could be a bit more lighting in the rooms. It was a little too dim, and especially the main Mirror was located in near darkness making it difficult to see yourself in it. The heating controls were a bit awkward. The room used to become really warm and then cool down really fast when we opened the windows. We tried controlling the heating so that we could enjoy a consistent ambient temperature, but we couldn't get it to stay at a constant temperature. Nevertheless, it wasn't a big issue as such. We still had a good night's sleep!

Parking was good. Reception staff were welcoming and good. Room was fine but the domestic staff did not keep to the promise that if towels were left on the floor they were changed but if they were on the rails they were not changed. They changed all of our towels and we hadn't left any on the floor deliberately. We were staying 2 nights. Are they told how long the residents stay in the room? Good idea though if carried through. Breakfast was fine - could do with some more first class protein for vegetarians (not vegan). View was exceptional. Beach was excellent. Info on places very locally to visit would have been good in the room. We didn't use the Spa - wanted to visit places outside on such a short visit.

Some staff were not great at breakfast. Greeting and meeting was not very friendly as we went into the dining room and everyone needed to know what was served at table and what was self-service. Why is it assumed that tea and coffee will be served to the table as soon as we were seated? We would have preferred it at the end of our meal. No food offered from the bar after the dining room was cleared. We had been out until later than dinner and came back hungry. No takeaways for quite a distance.

We got a junior suite and it was worth the extra money. The room was huge with a gorgeous bathroom and amazing sea views. Breakfast was fantastic with a huge variety that catered to all tastes. We ate in the restaurant and bar and both where of a really high standard. The restaurant is fancier with canapés and sorbets in between courses. The bar was more relaxed but the food was still gorgeous and good value for money.

The only slight negative we could think of was you had to drive to get into the nearest town. Other than that it was brilliant. There's a beach literally at the end of the drive and the spa and leisure facilities were amazing

Great selection to choose from regarding breakfast, definitely suit all dietary requirements, food in bar was also good value for money. Love the scenery from the bar. Although hotel was extremely busy on the second night, the staff were confident and handled the extra workload with ease. Music excellent both nights in bar . The enclosed courts were a bonus- football , hurling and foot tennis, the little lad was so happy with these facilities therefore we could also enjoy. Close proximity to beach was also a bonus

The only thing that could be improved, in my opinion, a little mini fridge in the room. Child was on an antibiotic ( nearly finished) which should have been stored in fridge.

The room was beautiful and we had an amazing sea view, made extra special as it had been snowing, so it was a picturesque irish seaside view. I was attending a wedding and the rooms, the food and the staff were all amazing. Finally breakfast the next morning was delicious. We had the buffet that was included with the room and there were loads of warm and cold options with Tea and Coffee. Would love to go back some day.

The hotel staff were welcoming and helpful. The manageress put a card & cupcakes in our room as it was a special occasion. That was a lovely touch. The view from the hotel was stunning. The room was spacious with adequate furniture. The bathroom was spacious and nice in decor. There was a swimming pool (children's pool and adult pool) with jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, gym, tennis court and spa. The breakfast was excellent (buffet style), with a lot of choice (cooked items, fruit, cereal and cold meats etc). We had dinner at the Beats Bar as the Marble Restaurant was not open. We would have preferred the latter. There was a great view from the Bar and our room. There was plenty of parking.

Nothing.

Even before we arrived the staff couldn't have been more helpful. We'd booked 2 nights on booking.com and wanted to add a 3rd night but it was sold out here. Contacted the hotel and they got us a 3rd night and ensured we had the same room for all 3 nights. Lovely friendly staff in all areas of the hotel, which is nicely decorated and very comfortable. Amazing sea view from our room. Ate in the bar twice, the menu was fairly standard Irish pub food (steak, burgers, curry, fish) and it was decent. Buffet breakfast was good too. We used the leisure centre once, spotlessly clean in all areas. Sauna and steam room were lovely. There are tennis courts and a small football pitch as well. The hotel is a couple of minutes walk from beautiful Marble Hill beach where there's a great little cafe (The Shack), plus it's a few minutes drive from Dunfanaghy, Portnablagh, Creeslough, and a little further to Downings, Carrigart, Glenveagh etc, so a great place to base yourself to explore this area. All in all, I loved our stay at Shandon and would very much recommend it. We'll be back.

Unfortunately the jacuzzi wasn't working in the leisure centre, not a big deal but as we were with our kids we couldn't use the spa so we'd been looking forward to it. Worth noting that this is a very popular hotel for families and while it wasn't a problem for us, don't expect a quiet romantic getaway in high summer!
