Hotel Francis Arlene is a beautiful family owned small hotel located just 10 minutes walking from the ferry terminal. It is within walking distance to everything in the north part of the island. I stayed for 6 nights and was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The staff is very professional and nice! Always available. I had booked a standard room with one queen size bed which was very comfortable. The room is basic but with all the necessities I needed. Had a small fridge, air conditioning and a ceiling fan. Also a balcony with ocean view. The hotel is very quiet and safe. They offer a safe at the reception. A nice touch was the water cooler in the main area where I could fill my bottles as I wish. Thank you to all the staff and owners. A special thank you to Abi who took good care of me while I was not feeling too well after having eaten something at a beach restaurant that made me sick for 2 days! I highly recommend this adult only hotel! Will be back there for sure!!

This little family run Hotel will make you feel very welcome to Isla Mujeres. Many guests have returned for 10 and even 20 years! A testament to their warmth. Location is superb, everything is close yet you avoid the loud music of the parallel street... this is a major plus! Its not for the shiny tourist, for that you will need the big commercial hotels... which is not our cup of tea, so we will be back to see this lovely family in Isla where the sun always shines!

The owners Geraldo and Manuella were exceptionally attentative, kind and friendly. We felt like we were guests in a beautiful home. The stained glass artwork around the hotel is so beautiful. The courtyard in the middle was exquiste had beautiful palms and flowered bushes. There was purified water supplied continuously. The owner, Geraldo helped organize an amazing live concert of music. I was invited to share an original song I wrote about Isla Mujeres at this event--singing and playing a borrowed guitar. The room was clean and wonderful had a nice refrigerator as well as a private balcony which had a view of the sea. The wonderful roof deck enabled one to see the sunrise and is large enough to do morning yoga. . The Malecon (walkway along the sea) was a half block away----we enjoyed sitting there for breakfast every morning and taking our morning walks. . The hotel is a short distance from the ferry and very close to North Beach area best for swimming, but in a quiet nook. We look forward to being there again.

Cannot think of anything I did not like

The atmosphere in the hotel. The amount of towels, the help from the owners, the l location. As a female solo traveller, it's nice not to walk in empty streets at night. The hotel is just one street removed from the main street with shops and restaurants. Everything is nearby. I read the reviews before booking, so I knew the rooms are a little dated. That was part of the charm for me. I had hot water all day, 2 clean towels every day. There was a fan and an AC, so chose what you like.

Charming family owned hotel in a walkable location to great restaurants, shopping and a beach. Bed was comfortable and hotel was quiet in the evenings. AC was nice and cold. Having a water cooler in the lobby was nice too . I was in rm #10 and had a nice view of the ocean.

Coffee maker or some in the lobby would've been nice 🙂

Perfect location, only a short walk to all the beaches. Many restaurants nearby, but still on a quiet enough street tucked behind all of the action. Wonderful and friendly staff. The hotel was absolutely beautiful in a traditional Mexican style and was exceptionally clean. We didn’t leave or return without seeing one of the housekeepers cleaning something or another to exacting detail. Would stay here again!

This is a very, very minor complaint almost not worth mentioning, but I do wish there was a separate wastebasket in the room aside from the waste basket in the toilet.

Conveniently located to shops and restaurants. Comfy bed, nice balcony with a view of the sea. wonderful family run place.

Nothing. we had a couple of minor issues and the owners dealt with them immediately. can’t get better than that.

Charming boutique hotel perfectly located close to the beach and main street of bars/restaurants, but nice and quiet for a good night's sleep. Rooms are basic and clean, and there is nice courtyard for hanging out (although we didn't spend much time there). The owners were very friendly and accommodating for our delayed arrival. Great place to stay for a visit to Islas Mujeres!

The Francis Arlene hotel is wonderfully located between the ferry (4 blocks) and eastern front of the ocean. It is a quiet colonial type hotel. The rooms are comfortable and clean and the staff is wonderful and eager to help. The rooms all have air conditioning, fan and a small refrigerator.

The Wifi didn't always have a good connection and the rooms do not have security boxes. I suggest that they put security boxes in at least some of the rooms. It would be great to have coffee in the rooms.

The location and the owner are what make this place great. The location was perfectly located close to everything (the ferry was 7 mins walking, Playa Norte was 5-6 mins walking, the restaurants and bars were literally 2-3 mins walking) so that was really awesome. The owner was really helpful, really nice to communicate with and he gave great tips and booked an excursion for me. The bed and room were clean enough and good enough, the bed was comfortable and I have no complaints about the room whatsoever.

To be honest, the price/quality is way too much. But that's standard for Isla Mujeres and the price is compared to other places the same or you get more bang for your bucks, but still 75 euros a night is pricey and it feels like a hostel/budget hotel. I've been traveling a lot around the world so sometimes it's unfair to make some comparisons but still, a hotel/hostel/stay is a stay and for that price, I stayed in 5 star luxurious hotels.
