I can't say enough good about this place. When we arrived, it was late, we had been travelling for 30 hours. They served us dinner and made us feel very welcome. The location and view from the restaurant was spectacular. The staff was so helpful and friendly. They helped us with travel and just everyday questions. They went above and beyond. I highly recommend staying here. We hated to leave.

The bed wasn't very soft. But we noticed that in all of our locations. Must be an Italian thing.

When we came back after midnight, the front door wouldn't open (using the card scanner). Tried many times to no avail. Calling one of the 2 numbers provided for exactly this problem didn't do much as it was inactive. The other one was answered by a very sleepy person and she insisted the scanner must work, even went so far as demanding to hear the noise the scanner made when we scanned the card (yes it made the right noise every time but the door remained closed). Eventually, after many, many tries, the door did open (with the help of a shoulder push), but must say the night shift was singularly unhelpful.

Hotel Le Macine is the perfect stay, if you plan to visit Tuscany. It is situated in center of Tuscany and there are a lot of places to see nearby. The hotel is very nice and comfortable, with charming rooms and excellent restaurant inside.

Once we had late dinner and the restaurant inside was closed. And it was difficult to find place to eat. You just need to learn in advance the working hours and better book table for dinner. There are several restaurants by 10-15 minuted drive, and they are always busy. So book in advance!

Beautiful location, friendly helpful staff, comfortable modern rooms each with its espresso machine, exceptional restaurant one of the best in the area. Needed 40mins to 1 hour to get to all the major tourist spots in Tuscany from all directions so we were in the middle of Tuscany and roads, directions were very good. The hotel is a hidden gem with 13 rooms in the old part of the village. It’s a few steps away from the old Centre in Montaione with its quant square a couple of bars, pizzerias and restaurants and supermarket. This small stoned hotel in this part of Tuscany can not be better situated to get a real taste of Tuscany life. It has an amazing view while you have delicious breakfast with something for everyone including freshly made tarts if you have a sweet tooth. I can’t say enough about this place, we were on a budget but we got so much more for our money. We ate at the hotels restaurant over half the nights because it really is amazing and better than many others especially in the tourist spots so save your appetite to get back to the comfort of this hotel and enjoy a delicious meal with attentive friendly staff on its veranda overlooking the Tuscan hills.

Great location to explore the surrounding area if you have a car. Florence, Pisa, San Gimignano are all great places for day trip drives. A car is essential. The town/village itself is a small place to stroll around with a few restaurants and bars to choose from. Not your typical tourist town but a more authentic Italian feel to it. The hotel was clean and tidying, the staff welcoming. The room spacious with an excellent view of the countryside. The restaurant in the hotel was great, food was excellent. We ate there twice it was definitely worth it. Make sure to book a table especially on the weekend because it gets busy.

The bed was quite hard for us, we much prefer a soft bed. The hotel can be loud, especially early in the morning. There are only 13 bedrooms in a quirky layout which is nice but noise of opening and closing doors echoes through the hotel. Saying that it wouldn’t put me off staying again.

The location is about half an hour from Volterra and about half an hour from San Geminiano. There is parking on site, the room is spacious and clean, the breakfast is delicious and varied. When we arrived there was no one at the reception, but the keys to the room were waiting on the counter.

As far as I could see, there is no elevator on site.

Amazing staff! Rachele was very friendly, sincere and helped us whenever needed. Property is very nice, with beautiful design and view on the mountains. There is also very lovely restaurant in the hotel, so suggest to try it out!

Room was a bit small with no view, but we did not stay there much as we loved to sit outaide in the garden.

The breakfasts and dinners were amazing! The staff were amazing! We had such a great stay. Beautiful property and view. We loved every minute of our stay. Tuscany is so beautiful to visit! We felt so welcome at Hotel Le Macine.

The hotel was very quaint and the views were amazing! Our Deluxe Double room was small, but comfortable. The A/C was cool, the bathroom was a good size and well appointed with modern fixtures.

The hotel is located in the middle of a small town centre with fantastic views-you can watch the sunset and the sunrise as well within 2 minutes walk. Free Car park is smaller but we always managed to find space. The restaurant view is just breathtaking. Room was very clean and modern look, bed was very comfortable with again great view over Tuscany. Breakfast is continental with good quality. The staff were genuinely superb-everyone very kind, always smiling, very positive and genuine. I can only recommend for everyone, gives a taste of Tuscany. Thank you!
