We stayed for one night on our way back to Cherbourg on route to the ferry. The rooms are large, clean and we'll presented with some beautiful furniture pieces and pretty artworks. The bathrooms are modern with spacious showers and there is also a very well equipped kitchen in the communal area should you wish to use it. Plenty of board games available that were more than plentiful to keep the kids entertained far beyond the duration of our stay. Fiona laid out the most beautiful breakfast the next morning. Plenty of fresh croissants, fresh orange juice, cereals, fruits, etc. etc.

We had a lovely time at Fiona and Richard's place. We stayed here for a few nights, while exploring part of Normandy. It's easy to drive from here to Bayeux, Saint-Lo, and even Mont Saint-Michel. You do need a car, because it's in the middle of nowhere, which we loved. Very quiet, rural, and when you sit outside in the courtyard, Shadow (the cat) comes to greet you. The breakfast was plentiful, and you can use the kitchen if you want to prepare something for yourself e.g for lunch/dinner.

Very convenient for the Cherbourg ferry and routes south. A charming self-contained ensuite bedroom next door to a kitchen-dining room, both units opening onto a sheltered courtyard. Everything we needed was provided in well-planned accommodation, occupying a peaceful spot amongst greenery in a secluded rural location. Fiona our host was welcoming and helpful and brought fabulous croissants and pain au raisin from a local bakery for our breakfasts.

We had no complaints!

Fiona and Richard are excellent hosts including their 3 labradors. La Petite Houssaye is located at the end of a street so it is really nice and quiet with loads of parking space. in the morning there is a good breakfast with lots of choices. The Normandy beaches are located 30 mins away by car so you are close but not in the hustle and bustle. Saint Lo is a 15 mins car drive where you have loads of restaurants.

Richard and Fiona greeted us on arrival and gave us the potted history of the buildings including how they were occupied during the war. We loved the tranquility of the area and the close proximity to the Normandy beaches. The continental breakfast had plenty to choose from lovingly prepared by Fiona.

Nothing at all

The property is situated at the end of a lane, very secluded but that is just what we wanted, surrounded by countryside and nature. Fiona and Richard are great hosts, very welcoming and helpful. A great location for travelling to Caen and the Normandie Beaches. Room size and amenities are great and a lovely breakfast, also there is a kitchen for you to use if you want.

Lovely quiet rural setting, within easy reach of Normandy beaches. Very useful kitchen and communal area available. Welcoming hosts and amazing pastries for breakfast!

A reasonable drive to local restaurants, but not a problem as kitchen more than adequate to prepare a meal.

Not sure where to start with this review, as there were so many positives to offer in every aspect of our stay. The hosts were super friendly, and in particular, Fiona was able to help with every aspect of any query we put to her. Her english and french language skills are exceptional, which helps a lot . The location is very rural which suited us as we live rurally ourselves, though some might find this an issue, but actually, the location is only a few miles from the nearest large town, so I wouldn't consider this an issue. The breakfast was varied, and plentiful, always a good start to the day, and the kitchen facilities had everything one might need to prepare food if so desired.All in all, I would totally and confidently, recommend it to anyone wanting to plan a european break. Thank you both so much for a great mini break.

Cannot think of anything we did not like.

Very comfortable room and access to full kitchen facilities a real plus. Nice breakfast. Very peaceful location.

Stairs to bedroom might be a bit steep for some, there is a ground floor room if it might be an issue.

Lovely property with super hosts- very friendly and helpful. We were cycling, and it was very near the cycle route and with a place to lock up bikes. And we went away with lovely fresh eggs for our breakfast the next day
