Great inn off the beaten track! The hotel is across from an ruined Abbey and along a river, where you could easily vision people fly fishing. Can easily vision this place for a wedding destination. They had several sitting rooms you were able to sit at, and there were picnic tables outside. We were able to book for dinner and the menu was very good. Our stay included breakfast and again the food was good -- you could order pretty much anything you wanted. The room was a pleasant surprise -- very spacious and we enjoyed having a sitting area. IF you are looking for somewhere away from the hustle and bustle of life than you should check the place out. Definetly a spot i would return to!

The room was spacious, if rather dated in terms of it's furnishings and decoration. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The staff were all friendly and courteous, and tried hard to accommodate our slightly odd requests. (We were competing at an equestrian event a few miles away, and initially thought we would have to order a carry our breakfast, as we would be leaving early. In the event, our start times meant we could have an early breakfast in the Tweed Room before leaving.) The hotel was very dog friendly, and our cocker spaniel was made very welcome

We had dinner in the restaurant on the first night. However we were not impressed with the quality of the food and felt it was expensive for what it was. My husband and I both had the mushroom starter, then I had the garlic risotto and he had the Aberdeen Angus burger. The starters and the risotto were very lacking in flavour, and presentation left a lot to be desired. The burger was extremely overcooked, and the accompanying chips were soggy and unappetising. There was a lack of vegetables or salad items with the food, which would have cheered up the appearance to some extent. Compared to the breakfast selection, very disappointing.

The hotel is beautiful old lady and a magnificent location next door to the Dryburgh Abbey. The Abbey is a must to visit and you get a discount if you are staying at the hotel. The hotel has beautiful grounds and the views across the river are great. The hotel is in a great location for hiking or just visiting the local sights. Our room was very quiet and very large with high ceilings. The bed was very comfortable and we ate at the restaurant each night. The restaurant has a small but good quality menu. We also indulged in afternoon tea of sandwiches and cakes. Yummy. Parking is free and easy to access with lots of space. All the staff were exceptional and very helpful with good advice of what to see and do in the area.

Internet in our room was pathetic. We had to go to one of the very nice lounges to get access. The bathroom is a little small and probably needs renovating but this is a very old building which has been well preserved so some latitude needs to be shown.

The room was lovely and had everything we needed. the lower downstairs bar/restaurant was great too as we had dinner and drinks here, the grounds and the Abbey are stunning as is the Tweed river. Just wish it wasn't raining most of our stay so we could explore further. Breakfast was amazing, the best we've had in the UK. Staff were lovely and very helpful.

We appreciated that it was a dog-friendly hotel and have no issue with that however dogs being brought into the Dining room for dinner we feel is not appropriate or follows health and safety policy - they do not belong in food areas inside. Also we paid in full for our meal on leaving the restaurant but found on check-out next day another guest had used our room number for their meals/drinks - we explained these weren't ours and it was sorted out. would suggest names being asked along with room numbers for cross-checking.

Found the staff very helpful, friendly and like being family, but without being over familiar. I was very pleased to have been given a room in the older part of the hotel overlooking the garden and part of the "Abbey" ruins. (I'm sure the Grey Lady, (ghost) was trying to tell me of her dissatisfaction I was leaving on the evening prior to my departure!!!), as I lay enjoying my bath, the TV kept switching channels and found a shirt I'd laid out on the bedroom floor!! Found as in the sticks, the price of the meals in the "Bistro", were very well priced and of excellent portions and quality, even a pint of lager was reasonably priced for a hotel. Treated myself to "Afternoon Tea-for One" on the Sunday after a bracing walk and it was well worth the money, but strangely still managed a Starter and magnificent Dessert in the evening! Breakfasts were most excellent and you could have your eggs anyway you liked, differently every morning with your Scottish Full Breakfast. As one that just usually showers at home, so appreciated the huge and fast filling bath, to revive after being out walking about the very picturesque area, before heading to the convivial guest lounge and then in to "The Bistro" for Dinner. I had promised myself a "Gentlemen's" extended weekend away, and this was just so perfect, the charming family run country hotel. Set in lovely grounds, and very quaint if not historical surroundings and the local village of St Boswells, near by and in walking distance, and you didn't need even to use your car. There was ample and adequate scenic walks to be had in the area, knowing you'd a very warm and fabulous homely environment to come back to. Reading my Sir Walter Scott book or magazines in front of the lounge Wood Burner, glass of wine in hand, what more can you ask for? Also, all the guests seemed happy to mingle and chat in the lounge area and a very dog friendly hotel as well.

Not really our hosts fault, but due to COVID still, the sauna and pool was closed, as it looked very good and hopefully will be available for my next visit. Plus, of course having to check out, with reluctance, but I was informed by one of the friendly staff, I'd be back and you know - I will be doing so in due course with eager anticipation!

Mid January break, we wanted somewhere quiet and scenic. Dryburgh Abbey hotel delivered. The snow just enhanced the look of the area / grounds. Breakfast was very good, cooked to order and with a good selection. Considering the energy costs and how quiet the hotel was at this time of year most areas were heated to a satisfactory standard (some may disagree but it was ok for us). Evening meals were very good, Maybe a bit expensive but very good. Interesting take on daily room service, it doesn't happen unless you ask for it. Again for us this was a bonus, kinder to the environment, less wasteful and less intrusive. When we ran out of milk a request at reception was quickly addressed. Staff were excellent, friendly, efficient and available. Rooms facing the Abbey are the ones to go for. If up at night look for the stars ( external lighting turned off, well done)

No lunches available ( but it was mid January and quiet). Dogs were allowed, i can live with that when they are well behaved but i imagine you could get some who might misbehave.

Stayed for two nights, room was excellent until a bit of an equipment disaster in the bathroom, luckily this did not result in any serious injury. Staff responded well and we were upgraded to another room for the second night which was excellent. Buffet breakfast was excellent with a good choice of hot or cold food. Dinner was served in the upstairs room or downstairs in the bistro for guests accompanied by dogs (I think that is what I was told). It was a good menu and the food was very enjoyable. The hotel is set in its own grounds surrounded by beautiful countryside with the river running close by.

The room we were upgrade to was on the top floor and, although very clean itself, there was a need for someone to do a bit of cleaning on the outsides of the windows but this did not put us off the enjoyment of this hotel

Very friendly and efficient receptionist, and we were upgraded from a standard room to an Abbey room, with a nice view over the front of the hotel. The room was quite large with a big comfortable bed, and a sizeable bathroom with toiletries supplied.

The breakfast arrangements; we were only there for one night and on arriving at the breakfast room there was a table set out with bread, toaster, croissants, cereals, milk, orange juice etc, but beyond that was a waitress taking our room number, who directed us to sit in the restaurant after giving us a menu. Eventually another waitress appeared and took our order for a cooked breakfast, but it just wasn't all that clear that we were meant to help ourselves to cereal etc; and then we had quite a wait for the cooked breakfast, which was very good. I think this is to do with the logistics of the hotel, it is a big place and the staff seemed to have to disappear for quite a while to go and replenish the milk or juice; they seemed to have a lot of running about to do.

The room was spacious, location and building was beautiful. The staff were friendly. The vicinity to the abbey was great. I didn't begrudge (as others have) paying to go into the Abbey as it requires upkeep!

Breakfast was a bit cold unfortunately and no provision for alternative to dairy milk. The room and interior were a little tired, lights that didn't work, unfinished filling/painting in the room and heavy rust on the radiator in the bathroom. Nothing major but would hope for finishing to be better as it is such a shame with a beautiful old building.
