The room we stayed in was beautiful (room 12). Very grand with an antique feel, bed was huge and really comfortable and bathroom was clean. The hotel was surrounded by rolling hills with great views and lovely scenery, very secluded and quiet. The staff were more than helpful and ensured we had a pleasant stay, food at the restaurant was also lovely and fresh, cooked with care and attention. Free continental breakfast in the morning was a bonus that I hadn’t expected. ALSO - definitely try the Spanish Style Scotch Egg if you go to the restaurant, it was incredible!

Road to the hotel could be a bit narrow and daunting at times, but didn’t have any problems whilst we were there. Restaurant food was a little on the pricey side but it was a very nice meal with fresh and good quality ingredients. not much choice for food as the hotel is secluded, unless you drive to Windermere or Ambleside which is around 15-20 mins up the road by car.

My partner and I stayed for 1 night with our little 10 month old puppy but ended up going back for one more night and upgraded the room for only £10 more!! I can not say enough about this gorgeous place! Beautiful location, glorious sun or rain. The Staff could not do enough for us, special shout out to Megan, Tommy, Donna and Sam. These guys made our stay so worth the visit and we loved the acoustic Tuesdays with Simon and John. Food was exceptional 5*

The only thing I would say is the radiator not working in one of the bedrooms but that’s literally it.

The staff make this Inn . Tommy the manager took such good care of us and if we were to go back and stay it would be because of the staff . The bar is cozy and has amazing views in the summer or winter . The restaurant is one of the best we have ever eaten in . They have an amazing chef and a very affordable menu . The continental breakfast was ample and set us up for the day . It was served in the restaurant again with a amazing views . Book in advance for dinner as it’s always busy regardless if it’s midweek or weekend . It’s a great base for walking and a short distance from the lovely Bowness-On-Windermere and Ambleside .

There isn’t much to dislike but what I would say is that the rooms are very comfortable but tired and slightly dated . Our room could have done with a good overhaul but this is a suggestion directed at the owners and not the staff .

Lovely welcome both from staff and the cat in reception. Room very nice, clean and well equipped. Nice to have tea/coffee making facilities. Lovely atmosphere in the bar at night with great staff and a folk band playing. Obviously very pet friendly. Another time I visit I will definitely bring my dog!

Breakfast was just continental unless you paid for brunch which started after 11am. Although it was nice and there was a good choice of cold food, it would be nice to be able to buy a hot breakfast earlier than 11am so you can set out and explore the amazing area early with a good breakfast to start the day.

Comfortable rooms with comfortable beds, plenty of parking, good heating system. Staff was generally very friendly. The main building is very cozy specially during cold rainy days. It was good place to relax.

Dishes were not clean and we had to wash ourselves before use. On the second night there was a water running noise during the entire night , the next day I noticed they shut off a valve on the studio wall that brings water somewhere. I don't know what it does but it would be better to keep it shut at night if possible.

Staff are amazing and can't do enough for guests, very dog friendly, lots of little details that are considered to make the stay special. Food was lovely and a really good continental breakfast with everyone catered for. They automatically book guests a table for tea in case you want to eat there and the food was fantastic. Price was very reasonable.

The room was cold which can't be helped in older buildings, however there was an electric room heater provided which heated up quickly.

The bedroom was lovely, immaculate the hotel decor was gorgeous and the beds were extremely comfy . The staff were super friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

Only when we came down for breakfast and no tables had been cleared for us to have breakfast, we moved bowls, mugs etc.. to another full table so we could have breakfast however no one came to provide clean mugs, bowls, bread for the toaster , we walked around for a while but couldn't find anyone. We pressed the bell on reception and no one came. We decided to leave it and check out however waited another 20 minutes of which no one came to check us out therefore left the key on the desk. Real shame as everything was perfect.

Staying at the Mortal Man Inn was an enchanting experience. The inn's Harry Potter-like atmosphere added a magical touch to the clean and comfortable rooms, making it a unique getaway. The pet-friendly policy was a big plus, making our furry friends feel as welcome as we did. The food was exceptional, showcasing both quality and taste, and the views, especially from my room, were breathtaking. It's a place where hospitality, great food, and magical charm blend perfectly

We expected slightly more from continental breakfast, but I can't say I have something to complain about

It’s a beautiful property in a gorgeous location. Surrounded by green hills and good walking trails! The complimentary continental breakfast was perfect, dinner in the downstairs pub was delicious and it was cosy with the fireplaces lit, had live music, a good selection of food and drinks. The room was super comfortable, warm, plenty of blankets, a lovely view and spacious enough for the two of us. Bed and pillows were comfy, shower was hot, and the room had a kettle for tea and coffee. Was honestly brilliant. Staff were very friendly and helpful too. And so many cats and dogs and ducks!! Loved it.

Apparently the machine coffee in the morning wasn’t very good. But there’s a good selection of teas!

Loved the room, the view, the gardens, the bar and dining area had warmth and cosy feel, and so much atmosphere. Had a lovely meal in the evening on first night, we didn't have the complimentary breakfast, so not able to comment, as we like the lie in morning. The building was amazing, love old buildings, and its designed for walkers amongst many others.

The bathroom in our room was a little small, and needed some love, was a little tired,
