This is a family run traditional Swiss mountain hotel with a good restaurant. The “family” extends to the guests, who are treated as part of the family. The unusual aspect is that the wife of the husband/wife team who own the hotel is Thai, and thus there are several excellent homemade Thai dishes on the menu along with traditional Swiss/European ones. Our room was large and comfortable with a small, immaculately clean bathroom. Filisur is an ideal location for taking the world heritage Rhaetian Railway trains around this part of Switzerland. Bernina Express and Glacier Express stop in the small town. The town has a COOP market across the street from the hotel. The hotel has beautiful views from every direction.
Nothing could be improved, but if you are looking for the facilities of a large 4-star resort hotel, the Rätia is not for you. There is a steep walking path, partially paved, which connects the station to the hotel. It is suitable for pulling small suitcases. One can also walk down the paved road or take the hourly bus which starts at the station and stops right in front of the hotel.

The owners were very friendly and the location in the village of Filisur is very good. Liked the ability to open the window and look out onto the street. The free transport pass enabled me to take the bus to Davos and back. Breakfast was excellent - including the very fine coffee. Had dinner in the hotel restaurant one night - very tasty food and I recommend the home made tomato soup.
The trip from and to the station with a heavy case is a bit challenging, but can be managed with patience especially if you take the road rather than the walking path.

I thoroughly enjoyed staying at this wonderful old hotel in the small village of Filisur. The hosts were very welcoming. The room had everything, wifi was good. Large windows let in the breeze during this period of sunny, warm weather. I ate at the hotel restaurant for three nights. The menu was varied and there was plenty to eat. It was wonderful eating outdoors, with very old grape vines above you. The Post Auto stop was opposite the hotel. This was most beneficial, as the railway station was many metres higher than the hotel. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It was a great stay.
Nothing at all.

I didn't have much interaction with staff as there was no one at the hotel when I walked in. It took me a while to notice there was a piece of paper with my name on it and a key on a counter. I guess it's really safe there. Dinner - food was really really delicious, but the service was meh. They did let us leave the luggage in the morning after checking out while we hiked and before catching a train. That was helpful.
Bathroom had a very bad odor. I didn't even use the shower because of the smell. It looked clean, but I just couldn't get passed the smell.

Amazing Stay!!! The couple that run the hotel are kind and super friendly! They will take care of you! My room was very classic old with charm and very comfortable too! I had a wonderful view of the old village Filisur and the mountains! The outside eating area is so beautiful! Vines going everywhere and gorgeous views. The pizza and the Thai food are delicious! There are great hikes in all directions and one of them leads to the famous Landwasserviadukt! My hosts told me of a picturesque hike if I take the train to Davos-Monstein, then hike my way back to Filisur. It turned out to be the most Amazing Hike I've ever done in my life!!! There were many train bridges, waterfalls, snow capped peaks, and postcard perfect villages off in the distance! One of the most spectacular moments of the hike was walking over the super high Weisen Viaduct and then taking pictures of the train going over the bridge from various viewpoints! Thanks again for making my visit so very memorable! 😁

Warm and clean rooms, beautuful place indoor and outdoor, close to train station, just in front of COOP supermarket, tasty breakfast (many items). We did hiking to Akveduk (about 1.5-2 kilometers from hotel to the bridge), there was no snow in February, almost no people, not crowded at all. We were with 4 years old child. Not too much cartoons on TV, but that was ok, we went outside to make a walk and we had laptop. Wi-Fi is working and free in the hotel. Carpets are everywhere - very warm and cosy. Beautuful view from the window - you could see stars in the night and trains in the darkness, and mountains. Our room was ready at 12:00 (we arrived a bit earlier). We were able to pick up the key in reception.
No hair dryer. Bathroom is rather small. Everything except these 2 things was just absolutely perfect!

The owners and manager of Hotel Rätia are super friendly people. They clearly enjoy interacting with people and making sure their guests are enjoying themselves, specifically at breakfast and dinner. There's a lovely friendly cat who will approach you if you show just a tiny bit of interest! The rooms are very '70s Alpine in decor, which is great if you want to step back in time and have an authentic experience. It's not at all modern, but it's comfortable and the well cared-for wooden panelling in the rooms is really pretty. The hotel is just 5-6 minutes walk from Filisur train station, from where you can take the Glacier or Bernina Express trains and go to Chur, Zurich, Pontresina, Italy or virtually anywhere else very easily on the super-cute local red trains of the Rhätische Bahn. The whole experience of travelling in this corner of the world is just impossible to beat.
I was a little alarmed when I arrived because it was mid-afternoon and there was no sign of anybody in the entire hotel. My key was on reception for me to check into my room, but I felt a bit like I was trespassing. Later I went downstairs and found the owner setting up for dinner in the kitchen, but maybe a little advanced communication to say "self check-in between these hours" would be appreciated...

It’s in a beautiful location, the Glacier Express stops there, which is way I chose it. You get a railway card from the hotel which I used to go to Davos which was free. Also you can go to the famous Landwasser Viaduct, there is little train to take you there. Would definitely go back. The staff are friendly, breakfast was good. The restaurant food was excellent.

The hotel was located in a lovely old town, very quiet and peaceful. The staff was really nice. The hotel restaurant provides Asian dishes which was lovely and special. There was a coop supermarket across the road which was convenient.
The hotel was located downhill several meters from train station, and the shortcut was not suitcase friendly.

Large clean room with windows on two sides with mountain views. Good restaurant with wide range of choice. In centre of village, near Co-op.
Breakfast was fine but with no choice. Steep hill up to railway station, but a bus ran from the hotel door to the station to connect with trains.
