This accommodation is beautiful - old castle converted into great designed rooms. There is also a nice garden and charming courtyard, great places to have a walk and relax. Our room was spacious and comfortable. There is also a common space - huge kitchen with dinning area which was great. Staff was very friendly, they also prepared a baby cot for our daughter for free. Breakfast was delicious, served in a beautiful room with great vibe. Self check in and parking were easy. Oberjäger is a great value for the price and we can recommend this place.
We could hear some noise from other rooms, but it was not a problem for us.

The surrounding environment, beautifully renovated room and breakfast were amazing. If I had more time, it would be really nice to come here to rest.
Everything was well communicated through messages and there were contact details for immediate contact when needed. But some message were written only in German so I needed a translator and there were few landmarks so I had a bit of trouble finding the room. There were few places to eat nearby and the hotel didn’t have a dinner menu. If you know what it‘s like to be here before you come, it won’t be inconvenient at all, but if you expected it to be a hotel with a reception, you‘ll be a bit confused at first. But despite of all things, I still want to come back.

Beautiful rooms, comfortable beds, great shower, nice staff - very pleasant accommodation :-) We were provided with welcome mineral water in the rooms and we could use the equipments of the shared kitchen too. The bathroom was exceptionally well-equipped, there were shower and hand gels, moisturizer, hair dryer and slippers as well. The place was overall very clean. We had a tasty breakfast in a gourgeous dining room with beautiful art deco-styled furniture. We also received the requested gluten-free pastries for breakfast, and bathrobes were also available in the rooms for using the sauna, thank you very much.
Unfortunately, our rooms were not next to each other, we had to go to another part of the building to get to the other room. It would be worthwhile to cover the parking lot with paving stones, because presently it's less convenient to use because of the mud. Finally we didn't use the sauna because there was no possibility of showering and its location was not optimal either. In the ground floor room it was very disturbing that every step could be heard from the upper room because of the wooden ceiling. It was difficult to find your way around the hotel without the knowledge of German, as all written information was only in German. Fortunately, the staff speaks great English :-)

The whole place is very unique! It is a good combination of modern and antique. The spacious rooms are decorated with great taste, the surrounding garden is beautiful. The entire place has a very nice atmosphere. Breakfast is served in a fantastic salon. The breakfast itself is also very spectacular, good quality food!
You are free to check-in even late at night, that was very convinient for us. However, as we have arrived late in the evening, the orientation was difficult. We did not find our room easily. As there is no reception, it would be better to write down everything in detail, or to apply more orientation signs. Also we felt that we were rushed to finish breakfast, even though the breakfast closing time was not approaching, the waiters started to clean our tables in a rather rude manner.

Before arriving, we received information about where to pick up the key. We found it tricky to find the entrance upon arrival (a larger sign would be helpful). It was great to have a map along with the key to find our room. It felt like going on a treasure hunt! Upon arrival at our room, it was not ready for us (not cleaned from previous guests), but we were able to contact the hosts via a telephone number, and were quickly given a different (even better!) room, which ended up being a perfect hidden gem for our stay there. The details in the room (decorations, screens on the windows, toiletries in the bathroom) were quite welcoming. The breakfast each day was lovely! It was lovely to be served, which allowed for more conversation and relaxation. The hosts of the hotel are kind and helpful. There is not a lot in the area, but Sopron is about a half hour away; and there are other lovely Austrian towns that are not too far away.
The signage from the parking lot to the rooms could be better, as well as the signage for the room numbers. It was pretty stressful to not be able to find our room and then find it unready, so an upgraded room was a kind guesture.

This place is absolutely gorgeous and in a beautiful setting, full of little surprises. The surroundings are full of greenery , there is a little garden, plenty of spots for walking and just enjoying yourself. The rooms are spacious and nicely equipped. The breakfast in the Green saloon was also fantastic.
Eventhough there is only few rooms at the property, we could hear every door opened and people talking, especially at night. Otherwise the place is very quiet, you don't hear cars or street noise at all. I was not aware there is no restaurant at the property, so I was a little disappointed we couldn't have dinner when we arrived, but we found a nice local pizzeria nearby.

From the location to the host, the check-in and checkout process, and the accommodation itself, everything was simply fantastic. The room was incredibly spacious, as was the bathroom, and the beds were exceptionally comfortable. Not to mention, everything was impeccably clean. The breakfast provided was truly amazing, and the Green Salon, serving as a warm and elegant breakfast area, added to the overall charm. Additionally, the surrounding environment was incredibly pleasant, offering the option to take leisurely walks or simply unwind in the garden. To sum it all up, this accommodation was excellent in every aspect.
Overall, the experience was wonderful, but I'd like to offer a suggestion. It might be beneficial to consider having mosquito nets to prevent insects from entering the room. This would allow guests to keep the windows open and enjoy the fresh air without any disturbances. Additionally, it would be helpful for other guests to be aware that if their room is located close to the kitchen area, they may hear noises quite clearly. Perhaps, it would be good to maintain a quieter atmosphere in that area to ensure a more peaceful stay for everyone.

Lovely Hotel. We have stayed twice on way to and from Italian holidays. Check in process was simple and well explained. Room was spacious and very clean. Hotel itself is located in very interesting historical buildings. I cannot say how good breakfast was and how warmly it was served by hotel staff. I would recommend to everyone!!!
All shops and cafes are closing early in Lackenbach but that’s not hotels fault !

Amazing! The pictures don't fully capture things. The grounds are well kept and beautiful and we were so surprised at how nice the room was. Everything is very well designed and they did an excellent job keeping the character of the old castle while making it feel very chic and elegant. Very quiet night away from things was just what we needed. The breakfast was delicious and there was more than enough food. Staff was very polite and friendly as well. I highly recommend this hotel.

We chose this hotel due to the location and the amazing reviews. To be honest I was a bit skeptic at the booking but the experience has exceeded all our expectations. This hotel is like a dream. From the breakfast through the spacious, well-designed rooms, till the garden and nature around the castle. You need to come here and experience yourself. Breakfast is served as a 5-course menu. Parking is included in the price as well. We highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return soon again.
