We stayed for one night in August on our way down through France. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Beautiful location with private gardens stretching down to the river with different places to sit and enjoy the tranquility. Superb food served on the terrace overlooking the gardens - fresh delicious, well presented and great value. We had a room with a balcony looking over the gardens and river which was delightful. Comfy bed. Although very hard pillows! Would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.

This was a fabulous hotel and I would happily stay again. Wonderful setting on the Charente and In the village. Dog friendly .Beautiful, well kept gardens with places to sit and lounge and watch the goings on along the river. Lovely airy big room. Good choice of food at dinner and excellent value for money. Ample range of items for breakfast. The staff appear to work very hard

Stairs a bit tricky for old knees but worth it for the lovely room. Bathroom fine but shower definitely needs an update. It would be nice to have a kettle .

We have stayed here a number of times. We love sitting by the river at the bottom of the garden. Dinner was good on both nights. Breakfast was good with fresh croissants, an orange juicer for making your own fresh juice and a pancake maker if you so wished.

It was very warm and the beds were fully made up with duvets and thick bedcovers. All that was really required was a sheet. There is no air conditioning and the electric fan provided does not do anything.

Ignore the outside and that our room overlooked the carpark.  The other side of the hotel overlooks the river, the bridge and a beautiful garden. There is a terrace on this side of the hotel where meals are served. For dinner, we went for the Alfred Renoleau option which is good value. 1pm check-in is a bonus and parking is plentiful.  Staff are friendly and helpful. We got some walks for the local area from the Tourist Office across the square from the hotel. The Sentier de la prairie de Goué - a 4.2 km walk - is worth doing. Our bathroom had a shaving mirror.

No kettle in room.

Good location as we were on the road towards Spain, so it was nice not to have to make a big detour. I liked the old-world style of the building with stunning views. The bed was super comfortable too, and the staff very friendly.

It was a bit of a shame that there was nothing to eat or drink after 21.00 which is a very normal time if you are not living the French small village lifestyle yourself. We don't like the gas station restaurants a d were looking forward to a nice dinner, but it is clearly not a place for international time frames. So if they want to attract international customers (or make them happy) that could be a point to improve. The smell of hand sanitizer/ detergent in the stairways was also a bit much...

Great location for what we needed, lovely hotel, we tried with our very limited French, so friendly and helpful. The evening meal and wine selection was superb, I would recommend staying and dining here. Beautiful gardens and river. Loved our stay!

We was a little hot in our room the 1st night, no fault of the hotel, there was a fan supplied that was great.

Beautiful location, really good value for money. The staff were impeccable and accommodating. The food was absolutely fantastic, so good we had to eat there again the next day to try the other set menus.

It was quite hot the week we stayed and there was no air conditioning, but already expected and a good fan was in the room already. A kettle would be good.

Hotel room was very clean and well laid out. Bed was very comfortable. Shower was great. But the best thing was the food. Ate there on the second night and it was superb.

My French is not great and the staff had no English so had to use translator a bit. Was more my fault than theirs though and they did their best

Breakfast and dinner were really good - excellent quality and value for money. The hotel setting is unique my room looked across the gardens towards the river and bridge a unique spot - dinner on the verandah was spot on a real fine!

Must admit struggled a bit getting up the stairs to 2nd floor - must get back in shape.....

We came across this hotel by chance and the website said it was 2 star but on arrival and during the stay it felt more like 4 star. The dinner and breakfast were amazing and the room was fabulous. We had a quadruple room on two floors. The gardens by the river were gorgeous. It massively exceeded our expectations.

There could have been a lift. It was quite hard to get up the stairs with our heavy cases.
