We booked a night at this hotel due to the snow and it wouldn't have safe to drive home. During our stay in Faw Sawrey elsewhere we had eaten here a couple of times and the food had been great and the staff bent over backwards to be accommodating and that did not change during our very brief stay, due to the weather and checkout we were at the hotel by 10.30am as soon as they were aware we were booked in for the night our room was ready for us within the hour. We were really grateful for this. We had a great Sunday lunch and the breakfast was fantastic too.

I wish we did not live 5 hours away.

Absolutely amazing stay at The Cuckoo Brow, a warm welcome and given a beautifully appointed warm room which was immaculately clean the bed was super comfortable and a wonderfull view, dinner was fabulous a highly recommend the pie which was superb, breakfast was equally good we both had Bacon & Waffles which were quite simply delicious, the whole team are friendly and helpful, If you are planning a stay on West side of lake forget Hawkshead, Coniston get yourself to Sawrey and make a visit to the 'Cuckoo Brow' it is a fantastic hotel run by a superb team.

Nothing everything fabulous

The staff were amazing. Very friendly and made me feel welcome. The lady who assisted with breakfast and the chap who took my dinner orders were excellent. Sorry, I don't recall the names, but these two individuals were particularly hospitable. The location had lots of lovely walks close by in the woods and nearby tarns. The location was also very quiet both inside and outside, allowing for a good night's sleep after a long day hiking! The food served was tasty, and there was a good selection in the breakfast buffet. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

I would have liked a mini fridge in the room as with no nearby shops, it would have been nice to store some perishable foods. Ideally, I would have liked to have eaten breakfast earlier, perhaps at 7 am. I appreciate that this may not have been feasible.

This was a return visit after 11 years .. and the Cuckoo Brow Inn is just as lovely as ever. A new management team of course.. doing a great job ! The Inn is beautifully placed in the midst of the District .. easy to get to those places you possibly want to see like Hill Top Farm etc. Yes . you will need a car !. Fun to go on the Ferry between Bowness and Far Sawrey .. or the drive either from the south or the north is beautiful in lovely narrow roads out in the country. The pub/hotel is dog friendly, like most places in the Lake District .. and popular .. so book a table if you want to eat there at night. !! Great breakfasts .. Comfy beds .. great showers/bathrooms .. what more could you want ?

Just one thing .. the shower had no flashing or seal so the water just poured down the glass .. and onto the floor .. requiring constant mopping up .. and a waste of towels... let alone the probable damage to the woodwork.

Due to traffic we arrived quite late, but the staff was so kind and accommodating, getting us some dinner despite being time for their kitchen to close. The staff during our stay has been extremely attentive, so helpful and friendly. We have loved staying here. The location is perfect for outdoor activities, the village is gorgeous and the garden to have a drink is beautiful, with great views. The room was big and comfortable, the beds were nice. The only 2 things we didn't quite enjoy in the room were the pillows, a bit hard, and the room is very light in the morning. Although the views are so beautiful. The food is nice, although I wish there were a few more healthy choices, but we loved breakfasts. The whole vibe is great, we'd love to come back.

Nothing to dislike, just maybe preferences with blinds, pillows and the variety of food.

A really enjoyable stay at this cosy country inn! Log fires greeted us at this warm and comfortable accommodation. Our room was large and beautifully decorated, with a lovely view from the window seat which was perfect for reading. The bed was huge and very comfortable. We sat by the log fire and enjoyed a pre-dinner drink. There were lots of people there who had been out walking and the atmosphere was very friendly. We enjoyed our dinner and breakfast. The ferry across the lake was just up the road. We will definitely return!

Everything was perfect!

Staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful Location was perfect but we have stayed there before so knew it was good for our needs Room was big and comfortable deep bath which was great to relax in after a day of walking, very dog friendly which is import to us Breakfast was included and very plentiful

This seems churlish but only criticism was one of the windows didn’t have a blind, however we overcame this by putting the spare duvet and our dirty laundry bag in the window which sorted the problem!

The hotel was very clean and comfortable. There was a welcoming family atmosphere and the food was excellent. The staff were lovely, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. It was our wedding anniversary and we received a card, chocolates and balloons in our room as a kind surprise. In the evening at dinner we then had another surprise of chocolate fudge cake with ice cream and a sparkling candle. It summed up the wonderful staff and we felt very special.

A very minor point but a few extra tv channels would be nice.

Perfect location for our needs, totally dog friendly, an amazing family run pub/hotel who went above and beyond

Unfortunately, and beyond their control we had an afternoon with no electricity ( day before no hot water for a bath but the shower worked fine! Lots of contractors on site and respected the guests!! - host was giving updates re when the electric was on - a complementary drink would have been welcome as after a long walk all we wanted was a hot bath, instead we had to sit outside with a drink until electricity came back on ( 3 hours!) luckily the weather was nice being early March!! Breakfast menu said it included pastries, we didn’t see any except on our last day of 3 .

When we arrived although we booked an executive room it was not at all at the level we expected. However, when we raised this with the manager he moved us to a far nicer warmer room immediately so we were happy with that. The food and service was good, not a huge choice for a non-meat eater however what we did have was very good especially the prawns and the fish and chips. There was an excellent choice for a meat eater!

The room we were allocated was not at all suitable. We appreciate it is a very old traditional building but it was not at the standard expected - we have stayed before so we knew what we were expecting. However, when we raised this, we were moved to another room which was much better and very comfortable.
