Nicely updated room decor with good amenities. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked in the room. It was a bit of a "jaw dropping" moment as it exceeded our expectations. Little things matter and the layout is very logical and convenient. For example, hand towels at the sink hang from a bar in front and below the sink where you need them, not on a shelf above. There were two chairs, a swivel rocker and a padded arm chair for watching tv or working on a laptop, and avoid laying in bed to watch tv (like so many other motels). Just a great experience! BONUS: Very cheap gasoline station (HQ Fuel) 2 minutes away: about 30 cents less then anywhere else.

I can't think of anything I would change or recommend differently.

Its prime location is ideal for me to catch the local Marin Aiporter Shuttle from the Manzanita drop off/pickup….which is a block away. Floodwater Restsurantbis right across the street and access to the 101 is right there:)

Think they need to improve the competency at the front desk and their communication w/guests. ROSIE is the best (I’ve been staying there when I’m in town for over 2 years) and she runs everything…her family need to help out a lil more….they leave and put immense responsibility on her and I feel it’s not right or fair:( ROSIE IS A STAR!!:):)🤩🤩🤩

Muir Woods Lodge looks like a typical 70s 2-storeyed motel with a balcony running the length of the upper floor. I must admit I expected a tired looking room with tragic decor, but what I got was a recently refurbished room of a good size (two queen beds fitted comfortably with plenty of additional space for two easy chairs), with decor that was actually tasteful and fresh. The room was very clean. There was plenty of hanging and storage space, a good-size fridge and a microwave. Breakfast is not included, but honestly, I'd rather pay less and choose my breakfast venue than succumb to yet another motel breakfast. There are no outside facilities (e.g. pool) but for travelers looking for value-for-money, no frills accommodation, Muir Woods Lodge is a step up from most other places in that category. I've stayed in far smaller and less well decorated rooms for twice the price. Muir Woods Lodge was an unexpected and pleasant surprise!

The paint color on the outside of the building... I call it 'sun-dried cow pie', but honestly, at least it's recently re-painted. I just wish the owners had got better advice on the color choice! 🙂 And that's the only thing I didn't like!

The heater worked perfectly. There was an outlet with the lampshade on both sides of the bed. The bed was very comfortable. The mini fridge is bigger than average. Lots of space. The TV was nice. Big TV. The staff was very kind and helpful. Free coffee in the reception with different options. Free ice cubes outside. You have a microwave in the room. Lots of parking spaces and it's safe (way safer than San Francisco. you can't even compare). WIFI was fast and worked fine ! I loved the window shades. It really block all the light if you want and if you want just a little bit of light still nobody can see you inside the room because of the angle. I really liked that.

It rained on the day we arrived and there was a lot of puddles on the balcony to get to the room. So we needed additional bathroom carpets to get rid of all that water under our shoes. Our shower took a little bit of time to deliver hot water. But sometimes was fast. I think it depends on the time of the day. Our TV remote control didn't work properly. Low battery I guess.

Nice clean room

Hair dryer did not work and bathroom door handle had a broken lock. Had I not used my own personal key as a tool to open the bathroom door my son would not have been able to get out.

The room was well-appointed, the bed was comfortable, I liked having the fridge and microwave. I like the hardwood-like flooring. OVerall the room was more attractive and modern than expected. I appreciated getting a 1st floor room as requested due to short term problems with lifting my luggage.

The 'desk and chair' were not well matched -- the desk/table was counter height and the chair was desk height. It was uncomfortable to eat at and impossible to use for my computer, forcing me to use my computer in bed, an uncomfortable proposition. The bathroom was also tiny. The highway facing room was surprisingly noisy even with the door and shutters closed.

No breakfast. Busy road outside but could not hear it from our room which was at the back of the building. The beds were very comfortable and the air conditioning worked well. The faucet was very stiff to turn on the water but when this came it was very hot and the bath was a pleasure at the end of a long day. Across the road from the motel is a network of boardwalks to go into Sausalito and mill valley as well as up river. Very beautiful especially at sunset. A good place at a good price.

Room decor is a little bit tired

I stayed here about 5-6 yrs ago; now come back again I noticed that it has been updated interior (remodeled) and the bed and sheets are more clean and confortable (such as, new matress, new pillow, etc). Thanks to owner to update the facility.

In the room I stayed (room 219), I believe some past trevellers used shower cap coverred the smoke detector (it doesn't bother me). Also may be the cleaner needs to pay more attention, I notice there are shoe marks on the wall near bed, and the light switches and bath room door handle were not cleaned (there are stains and marks). But overall, I appreciate the hotel management keeps up the property. It is a lovely location.

The room/hotel wasn't overpriced and its conveniently located close to hwy 1 and the 101 freeway. John Muir woods is also 20 mins away and there's food options nearby as well as a Target store. The room/motel met our needs of having a clean safe place to sleep and shower.

If you get a room that faces hwy 1, it might be a bit noisy specially for people who are light sleepers.

Check in was smooth, room and bathroom perfectly clean and very comfortable, personnel very nice, caring and helpful. I felt very safe and comfortable. There was every detail you need working and excellent. From plugs, bathroom toiletry, hairdryer, coffee maker, fridge, lights and bed site lamps. The bed was super comfortable and quick internet. I was able to work from there. Air-condition worked well and very silent. There was silence and peace at night. Many other hotels would come here and learn how to run business. I was very satisfied and happy staying here. Thank you very much.
