I was travelling with my spouse and another couple. We were placed in adjacent rooms, each with unique features, and both couples were very satisfied with their accommodation. Unfortunately, possibly out of the control of the owners, the wi-fi wasn't working effectively, which was a bit of a problem since my husband had to do some work while we were there. I thoroughly enjoyed my bubble bath, which was an exceptional treat! The meals we had at the restaurant for dinner were very good, with reasonable portions so everybody was satisfied.

As mentioned above, the wi-fi was a problem. And, again, possibly out of the owners' control, the beer my husband was served was flat. It was, however, replaced without much fuss.

My wife and I travelled along this route from KZN and then driving on some very bad roads in the Eastern Cape and seeing the poverty in Mount Fletcher, we were really surprised to come across this beautiful oasis. I booked when I saw the picture, but some organisations do not advertise correctly. We loved the friendly staff and the service that we received and the breakfast in the morning was very good. The room was lovely and comfortable and spotless.

We loved everything, and I do understand that you are not an air bnb, and more of a hotel set up, but we thought that we would see the owners checking in to say hi, but we understand that sometimes this is not possible. We really felt very comfortable with our one night stay.

Alpine is the perfect place to stay for a night while you're road-tripping. As a family with young children, they are so welcoming and accommodating. We've returned several times over the years and the rooms are consistently spotless, the beds are comfortable, and the staff are always prompt and friendly. It's so nice to have the restaurant on-site for dinner after a long day's drive. The breakfast is hearty and delicious as well. My kids love the two play areas, green space for getting their wiggles out, and the resident Macaw Coco who greets us on arrival. Thank you Alpine!

Not a thing

We had to travel up to Maclear for the weekend for a funeral. Although it was a short stay Ria and her team did everything they could to accommodate us and make our stay pleasant. The whole property is immaculately clean; from the common areas, the breakfast venue and the rooms. The rooms are neat and spacious and Ria has taken time and effort to add thoughtful touches to the rooms; such as emergency medical kits. There were plenty of plug points in the room, DSTV and air conditioning. The water pressure in the shower was lovely and there was lots of hot water thanks to a gas geyser. The beds were also very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious with a wide variety on offer and Ria was kind enough to accommodate us with a slightly earlier start to the breakfast. I would recommend The Alpine to anyone travelling to Maclear and would absolutely stay there again. Thank you, Ria!

There is nothing I can fault or criticise. Everything was lovely and just what we needed.

It totally suited us for our stop over, we were very warmly welcomed and offered assistance with our caravan. One can see the personal pride taken with Alpine B & B with the little milk , coffee and rusks - not to mention the little emergency medical kit and mozzie machine. Well done to you guys it was a pleasantly comfortable and spacious room with special touches that will bring us back again. God Bless and thank you for the stay.

They offered a evening meal if you wanted, which for us was great, saved going out and looking for somewhere to eat. Great service from Celeste. Ground floor rooms lead directly onto parking which for us with senior legs was great. We were delayed due to the severe storms days before which mess up our whole trip, but Rea without argument sorted out our booking.

Only one hanger in a huge wardrobe, and Rooibos tea bags kept splitting open when immersed in water. Fresh milk pods would be nice in room.

The little unit (Room 14) was plenty and all we needed as a family of 4. We have a 5 year old and one co-sleeping 10m old. We loved every moment we stayed. Theewners were awesome, and the unit made us feel very homely. The food was amazing 👏 I would 100% recommend this place. Also, shout out to Coco the Macaw. He is gorgeous and has such a personality. He even came and sat on my shoulder for a while. I was a very lucky girl 🦜

The location was excellent because I wanted a place that was easily accessible and in town. I loved their breakfast and did their best to accommodate me, when I went to live my car on Friday without payment, they allowed me to sit comfortable in their place while I was waiting for my transport to pic me. Lastly , their check in time ends at 21hrs but they made arrangements for me to get my keys at 22h30. I'm so grateful for that.

A very satisfactory stay in Maclear. The room was comfortable, there was a coffee/tea station and had what we needed without too many frills. We ate dinner (must be pre-booked) which was very good as was the breakfast (included in price) the following morning. The owners were very pleasant people and the staff were polite and accommodating. The place is situated on the fringe of the town so you are not disturbed by the daily hustle and bustle of town.

I was happy and there was nothing to complain about.

The breakfast was excellent, the bed was comfortable, the electric blanket kept the cold away. The bedding was nice and soft. The shower and bath was big with piping hot water. Different sized plugs were provided for your electronic devises. The lights stayed on during loadshedding. TV and aircon in the room. Room no 12 had its own little kitchen with fridge, Zink, microwave, kettle and cutlery, plus coffee, tea and milk that was refilled every day. A bottle of water was supplied every day. The unit was spotless. Dinner could be booked for the evenings and free undercover parking was provided.

Everything was perfect
