I have been before and knew my friend would love the building and the town. They both basically lived up to expectations other than the important missing items listed below. A great shame....

I believe that a five star hotel should emit a feeling of total luxury. There were no slippers and all floors brick it stone, no shower caps, no shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and not even a small biscuit to enjoy after eight hour drive. On Check out we were told that all of these things available on demand via a tiny list in the bathroom which I did not even see. Luxury means instant availability of all of these items in my opinion making our stay a little disappointing.

This is an exceptional historical building that clearly takes pride in the level of service offered. We were breaking our journey home after a holiday in Provence, so only stayed one night but wish we had been able to stay longer. The location is only a 5 to 10 minute walk from the centre of Troyes but is very quiet and peaceful. The hotel’s inner courtyards are lovely and we sat there to have drinks in the evening and for breakfast. The staff were all eager to ensure the best possible stay and were very friendly. We will definitely go back to Troyes and this hotel.

Nothing. The optional breakfast was lovely but expensive at 31 Euros per person.

room was lovely and warm, one of the cleanest hotel bedroom's I've ever been shown into and lots of little details considered. breakfast was sensational. A myriad of choices, all fresh and/or homemade. Delicious local produce and as mcuh as you could want. Would give many 5 * London hotels more than a run for their money - and all in front of a roaring log fire in a charming breakfast room. location was in the heart of the medieval city, right next to the cathedral but still easy walking distance to the heart of the bustling shops and restaurants.

nothing would have improved our stay

Lyndsey a staff member was so professional and very welcoming, the friendliest staff member! Excellent!

The other staff members could have been a bit more welcoming

Beautifully restored building, welcoming and friendly staff, very comfortable room and sitting room, spacious bathroom, delicious breakfast. We were given an excellent recommendation for dinner too, and a table was booked for us: super!

It would have been perfect is the bath taps had run more water… we had a very shallow bath after a while of running it. Still, it’s good to conserve water, of course, and in all other respects the hotel was perfect.

This was a really good surprise. We were a bit hesitant about booking a 'town' hotel but it was great. It's only small but full of character. Booked one of the suites which although reasonably expensive for the time of year turned out to be good value for money as it was so good. Couldn't eat at the hotel restaurant as it was fully booked but a restaurant was booked for us nearby that was more than satisfactory. Breakfast was a delight. The town is remarkable. Definitely worth a return visit.

The only downside was that we were only able stay one night. Would have liked more time!

This hotel is a wow! Clean, traditional with a contemporary twist. Love the quietness, beautiful courtyard and gorgeous furnishings. Great to have the kettle in the room and they were super cool about having our dog. A fabulous hotel which is quiet but within easy walking distance to the nightlife. Beds were really really comfortable.

It's hard to find fault but would have liked to have had a shower fitting.

Wonderful unique buildings and great atmosphere. We have stayed here many times my only complaint is that there is not a proper shower just a hand held spray! Only way to shower is to lay or knell in bath, very dangerous and slippery. Standing just gets water every where. Do not like baths. Just please fix head to wall and provide shower curtain and bath mat - problem solved !

See above.

The most beautiful place to stay - a lovely medieval property beautifully restored and the service was exceptional. The room we stayed in was a suite and one of the largest and most attractive I think I have ever stayed in. Lovely service and a delicious dinner ( and breakfast) in the pretty courtyard ( breakfast in a smaller dining room)

A charming old hotel which was a hostelry for the Knights Templar. All the staff were wonderful. Big room. Extremely comfortable bed. Room beautifully cleaned every day.

Not so much complaints but a few little details were missing that one would really expect at £285 a night. No cups in the room or milk even though there was a kettle and some tea bags. The wifi connection to the room did not work so one had to go into the reception area to use it (not good). Last a warning - despite being next to the cathedral, this hotel is not in the centre of Troyes: it's not far but be prepared for a 10-12 minute walk there and back. Last the dinner we took in the hotel one night was not very good, there are better places in the town.
