A most fabulous stylish hotel centrally located in the beautiful Old Town of Panama City. The hotel overlooks the Plaza Herrera within the Casco Viejo and is a striking original building, formerly the home of the American Trade Centre. The Reception, Lounge, Restaurant and Bar are all located on the very striking ground floor with tall windows and ceilings. Our bedroom was beautifully appointed with great views overlooking the Old Town and beyond to the sea. Reception were exceedingly helpful with my many queries and the restaurant, which we used three times, produced immaculate delicious food. The swimming pool, located on the third floor has lovely views across the town and has really comfortable sun beds. This hotel is really a fabulous place to stay.

Absolutely nothing but I would love the a.c in the common parts to be less chilly.

The hotel was historic and elegant. The room was large, with lovely amenities and a very comfortable big bed. We loved the big windows and door opening to the balcony overlooking the square. The bathroom was roomy, very clean, and continued the old world style. The food in the restaurant was excellent. All of the staff were very helpful and attentive. We especially appreciated Herrera’s assistance. We would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it to others.

The location of this hotel is prime, as it is situated in the heart of the old town and easy to walk to lots of restaurants/cafes and shops. The pool is lovely and the hotel itself is really nice. Rooms were clean and had everything you needed! Staff were very hospitable too.

We didn’t realise that the hotel is situated right next to a church with bells that ring every hour. So if you’re looking to have a relaxing lie in, then you may struggle here!

Hotel was within walking distance of attractions, restaurants and shops that were of interest to us. The view from the balcony that overlooked the square was excellent. Staff members were very friendly and helpful. Room temperature was comfortable.

The room was well lit during the day. However, nighttime lighting was inadequate. Service during breakfast was slow. Food options were limited and lacked flair. The availability of more English language TV channels would be beneficial but not necessary.

The location was great, right next to alot of cute restaurants and really central to the safer walkable areas of old town. The room was beautiful, the bed was so comfortable, the balcony was adorable. The amenities and little aesop bottles were lovely, it's so nice to use high quality products on vacation and not have to pack them. The pool was perfect in the middle of a hot day.

The fixed breakfast was a little limiting for a vegetarian, but the restaurant was beautiful and the staff was beyond helpful.

This hotel was beautiful, perfect location, and the staff exceptional. From the moment we arrived we were treated as though we were special guests (we weren't). Our room in this historic hotel was large and comfortable. And the location was perfect!

Absolutely nothing was lacking in this hotel. As other guests have mentioned, it was a little noisy in the square by the hotel at night, but we found it charming and the noise didn't detract from our stay. And earplugs were provided if guests wanted them.

We stayed here three different times during the course of three months. AT is in a great location facing a park square, tastefully restored and decorated with a comfortable room. Rooftop pool is a welcome respite from the heat in the middle of the day. on the first visit s violinist played in the park as we watched from our balcony and it was splendid. We did enjoy our stays here.

Most features of this hotel are available in the many other beautifully restored hotels of Casco Viejo for considerably less. Room rates at AT rose about 50% between Jan - March 2022 and booking makes it impossible to know if your room will have the most desirable features (square facing balcony, larger size) that make the high cost worth it. The size and features of our room declined as prices rose (we stayed here on three separate occasions) and they weren’t always available to accommodate a switch.

The staff was kind and welcoming, the building is pretty and I liked the decor. Really great water pressure in the shower and strong AC!

The church bells nextdoor were really loud and started at 630am! Wasn't an issue for us since we were up early, but maybe request a room away from the church if you're sensitive to noise (we did realize later that they had earplugs in the vanity kit).

the club across the plaza had blaring music every night which kept us up until 2am, when the music stopped. the staff was very accommodating & changed our room to the other side of the hotel. not sure if the hotel can do anything about the music but it greatly affected our stay.ATh review

Location was perfect for exploring Casco Viejo with lots of restaurants and bars within a 2-3 block radius. The hotel has wonderfully restored/retained the feel of its historic past a la Raffles Hotel, albeit on a much smaller scale. The rooms were beautiful and spacious with high ceilings, some with balconies overlooking the square like ours. We stayed midweek and nightlife was pretty lively in the square. Not sure what it’s like on the weekends but we liked leaving our floor to ceiling balcony doors open to hear the music and sounds of the square. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and made our stay a delight. The restaurant in the hotel has a limited menu, but it was some of the best food we had in Panama and very reasonable. So good that we broke our rule of never eating in a place twice whilst traveling. The hotel also had Wednesday salsa night with an excellent local band and dancers in an intimate cafe theatre setting. This hotel was one of the best we’ve stayed at in our travels with its mix of history, location and service. We’d definitely like to return to this hotel and Panama City with all its historic and gastronomic delights. Note - Fonda Lo Que Hay is a foodie spot only a half block from the hotel. Lives up to its hype and well worth planning ahead to get a reservation.

The hotel is accessible for wheelchairs via the rear entrance which is the restaurant entrance and the requires help from a member of staff to use the short stair lift to lobby and elevator level. However, I very much appreciate this is a historic landmark and the thought and effort to make it accessible.
