Loved the breakfast. And the location. A 15 minute walk into town.

Not enough staff. We had to call someone at the front desk if we wanted a drink or snack from the bar. Also came back one night to a room that the staff had cleaned, but left the windows open and turned off the AC. The floors were soaking wet, (still not sure why), maybe the high humidity, the sheets and clothing also were dampened. Couldn’t sleep in our room. We were given an another room until the next day, until our original room was cleaned. That being said, the staff, though overworked, did their best to accommodate us.

I stayed at this special and unique hotel - 3 nights. Just to thank and praise. The service approach - deserves all appreciation and praise. The hotel is so beautiful and tastefully decorated, starting from the special lobby, through the amazing sitting area, the bar and its inviting space. The bedroom is spacious, the bed is comfortable, there is a coffee corner. The breakfast is excellent! Every request is answered with a smile, professionally and immediately. Thank you very much, dear staff, for truly seeing the customer and their needs. And to you, the owners of the place - thank you very much for designing this beautiful hotel and especially for dictating the impeccable service policy. Thank you very much

Beautiful hotel. Very modern inside while retaining a beautiful exterior. Excellent and helpful staff. Delicious cookies in the lobby. Nice breakfast spread. Beds super comfy.

1. I "upgraded" to a sea view room which had a better view of the employee parking lot and Burger King than the water. Also, depending on wind direction, you get a free scent of burgers & fries. ;) 2. My bad for not researching better but location was on the edge of town, which meant a 25-35 minute walk to dinner up and down sloping hills. For sightseeing, this is a non-issue as I had a car and drove to all the sites.

Great historical building converted to a hotel. Comfortable bed. Well equipped washroom with sufficient toiletries. Good cleanliness. Water bottle in room was nice to have upon arrival. Very friendly staff who go out of the way to make you feel comfortable. Free parking. Water kettle in the room was also great to have.

Recommend removing the TV from the common area. We just wanted to enjoy some quite time but one family was watching TV with a loud sound in the common area so we couldn't really enjoy and relax there. Most hotels don't have TV's in the lounge areas. Some rooms face burger king, not the best view but can't do much about the location.

The staff is very friendly. Especially the lady that welcomed us. The views (aside from burger king) are beautiful. Easy access parking. Beautiful buildings very well decorated. Comfy bed

Gluten free breakfast is poor. Apart from what is gluten free from the buffet (eggs, bacon, cold meat, milk..) they only offer bread. Nowadays it is extremely easy to find gluten free food in the market, especially for a hotel. I wish they also served something sweet for celiacs. Also, maybe it was a one time mistake, but the staff suggested that I toast the bread in the normal (and full of gluten) toaster. When I explained that I couldn't they immediately rectified and toasted it inside

This is an amazing property. It's set in an old palace that has been fully renovated, but the original charm and history were perfectly kept. It has an amazing view of the sea and the 2 main mountains of Angra do Heroismo, which you can hike up to for amazing views. The hotel is just a 15-min walk from Rua da Se, the main street with restaurants, bars and shopping. There is plenty of parking available if you have a rental car (which is the best way to explore the island). The beds are comfortable, the whole facility is very clean, breakfast is delicious. Everything looks brand new and charming at the same time. But the best part was the kindness of the people who work there, they all made us feel very welcome.

The bar doesn't have many drink options, and no food options. I think this could be improved in the future, because the setting of the bar is very comfortable and classy - it makes you want to spend time there.

This is the loveliest hotel I have ever stayed in! On one hand, you can feel the rich history of the place, and on the other hand, it's a charming boutique hotel where every detail is beautifully crafted. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool, the amazing breakfast, and the stunning views. It’s a place I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Angra. Angra stole my heart; it's a place I would love to return to. You can take a leisurely 20-minute walk to the city center or drive to convenient public parking spots.

Great hotel. The building is very old, and some parts of it are preserved. The rest is a modern hotel. The room is spacous. everything is brand new. The bed is large and super comfortable. The shower is a treat. The stuff is so service oriented. Wherever you meet them, whether at the reception or at breakfast or the bar, they are always smiling and do their best to assist. Breakfast is good and fresh. WIFI is very string and stable. There is a nice view of monte brazil. The price is very reasonable

The public areas of the hotel are spacious and comfortable and the rooms are as well. The breakfast includes a variety of choices and is plentiful and very good.

The elevator to the floor where we were staying was broken and we had to carry our luggage up and down two flights. We were told we couldn’t park in the staff parking in the back of the hotel even though it would have been much easier for us. When we asked for the coffee packets in our room to be replenished, we were told that we would have to pay extra for them which seemed a bit chintzy.

Marvelously reengineered as a super modern hotel in an ancient monetary with breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean, Monte Brazil, the old Spanish fort and the rooftops of much of Angra do Heroismo. It’s sparkling clean and had all the modern amenities you would expect. Pope John and Pope Francis stayed there, John when it was still a monastery and Francis a few weeks before the hotel opened to the public. We are new migrants from the US and were there for three weeks waiting for our house to be ready. The hotel is an amazing physical structure but it’s the staff that make the place extra special. We both did a lot of travel during our careers and as retirees. We’ve stayed in hundreds of hotels on three continents and have never met a friendlier and more professional group. They were constantly surprising us with unexpected acts of kindness and attention. You can pay people to be polite but friendly comes from the heart and these folks are full of Azorian heart. I can’t leave this post without mentioning the breakfast buffet with hot entrees, fresh fruit and many, many delicious homemade breads, cakes and other treats thanks to Miss Joana, the pastry chef.
