The best location in Longyearbyen, if you ask us. The hotel is just opposite to Visit Svalbard office, hence a primary stop for all types of facilities, Flybussen (airport bus), adventure bookings and pick-ups, etc. It is 2 minutes walk from the only supermarket, and next doors to a lot of really good restaurants and pubs. The room was quite spacious, the bathroom was well appointed with toiletries and a bathtub, really clean within and in the corridors, and well maintained. The lounge area beside the reception was extremely cozy with a fireplace and a lounge menu (plus bar), as well as 24/7 availability of the reception desk and free tea/coffee/hot-chocolate (plus cookies/cakes at times). The shoe closet at the entrance was quite convenient, and so seemed the luggage deposit (we did not use it). The staff at the property were extremely courteous and helpful; thanks to them we could see the Northern Lights in the middle of our Christmas Buffet dinner. They encouraged us to go out and enjoy the lights for more than half an hour and stayed back longer to let us finish our meal afterwards. Really appreciated their hospitality!

The only nitpick we have is about the restaurant for meals -- there was no option for lunch and the dinner is slightly high-end for the property. We only opted for the Christmas Buffet dinner, which was pretty nice, and the regular breakfast buffets, which were quite alright. However, this is not an issue at all, as there are several good bars and restaurants within 2-3 minute walking radius of this hotel. The other point would be light during the winter months -- the property is really well-lit and so are the surroundings -- this may be good for you, but if you want a darker surroundings for the Norther Lights in winter, you may opt for a more secluded location. That said, we had two evenings of Norther Lights clearly visible from right in front of the hotel! :-)

What an amazing hotel! We felt very comfortable throughout our stay. All rooms are heated and very cozy. The location is also perfect, close to everything. The rooms are very clean and cozy too. The bathroom is amazing with heated floors! We really liked it! Ideal for leaving wet clothes and having them dry the next morning. The view from the room is also very beautiful. The breakfast is delicious with a variety of hot and cold options. Many thanks to the entire staff, especially the restaurant staff, for always being kind and smiling. This hotel is definitely an excellent choice if you are going to Svalbard.

I liked everything

Good location at the top of the shopping street and across from the visit svalbard tourist information office. It's also a stop for the airport bus.

Our room was facing the shopping street and the TV screen from the Visit Svalbard office was very bright, makes it difficult to look at the night sky when you're trying to Northern Light spotting. Would have preferred to have a kettle for water in the room, the "tea"option from the machine comes out with a trace of coffee flavour, which I don't like. Luckily could go downstairs and fill my thermos with hot water.

I was there with my brother and our room was comfortable, with a nice view over a nearby glacier. The location is super convenient: just a few metres outside of the hotel you have the grocery shop, several restaurants and other shops. Breakfast was good although not amazing (could have better choice). You get wool slippers in your room as well as bathrobes and a little complimentary chocolate polar bear. :) The hotel has a really nice lounge area with a fireplace and an interesting design. The staff was helpful too. Overall we had a very good experience there!

My room was extremely cosy, warm and the bed had the best mattress and duvet I had ever slept on. Coffee making facilities were in the room and the shower was piping hot (minus 18 temperatures) and the toiletries provided were excellent. A very comprehensive breakfast was provided each day and free coffee and tea was also available in the hotel reception along with a very welcoming fireplace. All the staff was super friendly and helpful.

There was nothing I could find that I didn't like. The hotel have got it right!

Our stay at Polfareren exceeded our expectations. The hotel was super clean and the staff very friendly. The room was really big and the bathroom had a heated floor. It, was located outside of the main compartment, but of course we knew it and we didn't have any issues. We visited the archipelago in late April so keep in mind the sun never sets. The room is not completely dark so I recommend the use of sleeping masks. We personally liked it a lot that we got that light cause we experienced the polar night 100%. The breakfast was good and tasty. When we visit Svalbard again we know where to stay. Also an advice to all travelers, if you go to Svalbard do the Trollsteinen hike, It's by far the best activity we have had 😁.

Everything was perfect! Nothing we didn't like.

The location was excellent in central to town and the staff and facility was absolutely perfect for our needs on this trip. The staff were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about local resources, and we felt that they really enjoyed their job. They made us stay a lot nicer, and the kitchen staff were very accommodating as well.

There was nothing that we felt could be improved upon.

AMAZING VIEW!!! :D I'm so happy I stayed here - it was magic to watch the mountains changing colours from my room window! I even saw a reindeer outside my window! Super thick duvets and huge pillows to lounge on; very thoughtful. Big room, very comfortable. Nice decor. Nice staff. Very clean. Very central location - easy short walk to everything, important when it's cold outside and you want to find food. Pretty quiet.

Bit of hassle to dress up and put boots on/off to go to reception and breakfast in another building, but totally worth it for the view. Shower ran hot and cold and toilet didn't flush well. Breakfast was generally fine but one day quiche and waffles were served cold even at 7am. Sometimes I could hear the people next door so perhaps not quiet if the hotel is full. No gym/sauna/jacuzzi.

Centrally located, convenient to just about everything. Scandinavian decor. Property was very clean, the staff were friendly, and the breakfast was great. I was assigned a room in the annex across the small street from the main building, so had to go outside to main building for breakfast. But it was no problem.

I had a bunk bed. The bottom mattress was a bit old (or thin), such that I could feel the springs. Luckily because it was a bunk bed, there were 2 futons and I was able to use one for extra cushioning.

The hotel is perfectly located right in the centre of town making it very easy to get everywhere. The bus from the airport also stops right outside on its route. The breakfast was great with a wide spread to cater to all, they were also happy to fetch particular foods or drinks for visitors (I noticed) that weren't otherwise available in the general buffet. The room was very comfortable and spacious. It was a great stay and can't wait to go back again!
