The crowning glory of this place was Tom who ran the front desk and the bar. I would go back just for this gentleman alone. He is a gem! So enthusiastic and kind. He ran from behind the counter to greet us with key in hand every time we returned...it wasn't always the right key (we had several rooms) but who cares!? He is a treasure. Breakfast was first-rate - they take your order the night before. Feeding four teenaged boys is no easy feat and everyone really liked it. The glassed in bar and breakfast area has one of the best views in the world. The Oban bay is breathtaking.

This hotel has not been upgraded in decades (many many decades) and the rooms are funky, oddly configured and awkward. But for the money, a great value, and for the benefits of the bar, the staff and breakfast...totally worth it!

This hotel is amazing. I highly recommend the whole experience. The food was fresh, the staff friendly the place was kept spotless and welcoming - but it was the decor that I loved the most. It was like going back into the 70s and so endearing that it reminded me of my grandmother. The solid wood furniture, comfy beds, bakelite units and 'Tardis-like' showers (my kids would have loved the showers when they were small and Dr Who fans) were gleaming like new and a pleasure to see and use in these environmentally friendly days when we are trying to save the earth. I mean, anyway, who wants to pay more to stay at an unnecessarily updated hotel with modern, disposable. lightweight furniture and fittings? I loved it and loved the location. I loved the price and food. Very pleasant exceptional-quality bargain where you are treated with utmost respect and care and can get on with enjoying your stay.

I liked everything, especially the brilliant sunsets where the whole sky, bay and street turned red. Never seen anything quite so great.

The hotel is very old fashioned which is what I expected from the outside. It's like going back in time, which is good for some things, but the rooms really need modernisation. The best bits are the absolutely heavenly comfort of the beds and the fresh sheets. The breakfast was really good.

The fittings around the wardrobe are hanging off, the toilet feels like it's going to break, and there were two planks of wood on the wall for no apparent reason. The tea cups are tiny and would benefit being changed to mugs. The bin is so full of rust that I am surprised it's not falling apart. I understand that it's the summer months and the best time to sell rooms but paying £106 a night seems expensive considering all the things I have listed.

The hotel itself is a little run down and in need of some tlc. However the location is great , away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist area but only a 10 minute walk away. The view of the bay from the hotel is fabulous. We booked a room with bay view and what a view! The staff of the hotel were very welcoming and efficient. The breakfast choice was very good . Ordering the day before is great.I dont like buffet breakfast as the food could be there in the heated containers for a while. The breakfast is served to you at the time of your choice. It is cooked to perfection and piping hot.The system they use is similar to a bed and breakfast and works great. The music in the cocktail bar on a Friday evening is great. Local musicians get together with their musical instruments playing scottish songs etc. Was a great night. Good car parking available also.

Unfortunately the hotel has suffered a little after covid. I was aware before booking, this hotel was a little run down decor and facility wise, hense its two star rating.I was a little dissapointed the second morning of our stay as the water from the shower was cold for some reason. The first morning it was fine. There was a lack of electrical sockets. The area the kettle was had no available electric socket. You had to plug in kettle by the bedside cabinet or next to Tv socket and carry kettle back across the room, not ideal but not a great problem.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. Some of the other guests were really nice, we made a few friends who we would like to bump into again, most of them were returning guests. The breakfast was amazing and plenty of it to set you up for the day ahead. The hotel sits in a beautiful location, close to all amenities Oban has to offer.

There were no towels in the room when we arrived but that was soon rectified.

All the sraff were friendly and very helpful. Room was comfortable - furniture old, but grand, and the view across the sea (from the harbour around to the islands and land beyond). Breakfast was good as were the choices. Easy walking access to town and harbour, If you want something modern in Oban, this is not for you (though our ensuite was new), but for something reasonably priced with some interesting artifacts and amazing views, this is the place to go,

Room was fine, wonderful view out over the loch. Decor a little tired, but fine for the price we paid. Staff were friendly and happy to meet our dog. Told us there was an excellent dog-walk in a forest just behind the hotel, which made morning and evening comfort walks very easy. Breakfast was plentiful. Only bar snacks served in the evening but we knew this and mostly ate out.

Weather was atrocious, but not the venues fault! Room decor was a little tired but it was clean and comfortable. Bar snacks were unadventurous. We had an OK burger but mostly ate out as we like lots of vegetables and fish. Parking was rather tight - area at front and back, but back was a bit tricky as our car is fairly long. Someone better at parking and reversing would have found it easier!

Hotel was in a great spot short walk to the centre. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was beautiful and a good selection. Room was big, beds comfortable and clean. Bar prices very reasonable.

The only thing I'd change. Our room was at the very back of the hotel. With a child it was a fair distance to walk, would have preferred closer. Hotel is slightly dated. It would be nice to have an outside seating area as the weather was good however, wouldn't be a big issue or prevent going back again.

Most amazing staff. Chat like you're family while attending to your requests. That location is absolutely the best. Hooked on 10k steps a day? Join the march on the seaside promenade. Enjoy your drinks or breakfast watching the boats small to large come in to berth. Dinner and breakfast were good and not over priced. I highly recommend.

The bed was not very comfortable, shook so much and the loose headboard banged each time against the wall, I worried for those next door. Aged facilities is understandable and maybe more expensive rooms have faster boiling more modern kettles. Like I indicated earlier, I'll still book this every time am in Oban if its available.

Location was splendid, right on the seafront. The breakfast which I enjoyed sitting looking across Oban Bay was wonderful. Full marks for having everything brought to me - so unusual these days even in top class hotels. I particularly enjoyed the pot of tea being brought to me with a jug of hot water for topping up. Also that I could book a 9.30 slot and was not hassled to complete my meal hurriedly also excellent that there was someone to greet me at 9.30 at night, I didn't have to leave until 11am and there was car parking available on the premises.

Nothing.
