Firstly, they accommodated my last minute planning, I originally wanted one night then stayed for another to do the Sossusvlei tour. They put me in the house or the back. Dinners were lovely, and well organized. And it was the first time I tasted wildebeest and antelope. Wi-Fi was spotty and non existent at the house but I'm sure one will fare better with a proper booking. You can also just use the Wi-Fi at reception. I did laundry with them at a nominal cost and they were quite receptive to all my requests. If anything the place was rather well run indeed. I took a dip in the pool IV my first evening and the towels were furnished, removed and replenished rather quickly. My tour guide for Sossusvlei, Ziggy, was first rate and I was pleased and impressed with all he offered from the stories, lore, geography and especially his ace driving and snake spotting skills! He clearly knows what he's doing. I learned also that the property has some bushmen art on a 4k walk away but I did not get to verify this with reception.

Lovely modern room with very good shower room. Wonderful views through the sliding glass doors and private terrace across the desert - a great place to have a sundowner and watch the setting sun. Lovely staff and a very good breakfast. The four course evening meal was often more than we could eat but very tasty. The swimming pool area was ideal for relaxing after an exhausting day. The small chocolate and bedtime story delivered to the room each night was a lovely idea.
The sun loungers around the pool were quite worn and stained and some were broken. Could have done with a few more loungers and parasols for when the pool area was busy. But otherwise this was a lovely area to relax.

Elegant Desert Lodge is very well situated and reasonably priced considering it’s proximity to Sesriem. Very comfortable, spacious, tastefully decorated rooms, loved the crisp bed linen and cozy quilts. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the meals were delicious and plentiful, and the setting was beautiful. There was lots of outdoor space for guests to enjoy themselves without feeling crowded by other guests. The mid afternoon tea, coffee and cake service was a nice touch and very appreciated, as was the bed turndown in the evening, complete with small treat!
Everything was very enjoyable.

The area was gorgeous, we had a beautiful room with a view over the open desert where we could see ground squirrels and oryxes. there was a vegetarian option available at dinner on request, which was delicious and well thought out. We took a sundowner drive with them, which was also well worth the cost, would really recommend it. We also got printed out bedtime stories and chocolates each night.
It is still quite a drive to sossusvlei, although manageable. For an early walk on the dunes you’d need a very early start here.

The property is excellent, offering a high standard of service and amenities. It’s clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The breakfasts were satisfactory, but the dinners were outstanding—an absolute delight of flavors! The staff was very helpful and professional. At our request, they even organized a nighttime barbecue for us. Highly recommended for a pleasant and memorable stay!"
Perhaps the breakfast could be a bit more varied, although the products served were of the highest quality.

Lovely room although the AC didn’t work and we really needed it as difficult and uncomfortable without it. It was lovely dining under the stars. A choice of dinner rather than just one which was Eland for main course would have been nice. However I asked for chicken as I could not bring myself to eat the Eland and they obliged. Note if you set off early on a trip before breakfast starts at 6am you will eat breakfast which is packed for you at one of you stops during whichever tour you take. I helped myself to some food as the breakfast was being set up at the hotel before we departed for the excursion as I had been told we could eat something before leaving as I have a health issue and it didn’t go down well with the breakfast staff who made me feel like I was stealing food!

Excellent service, really good food! Comfortable room too. We did the sundowner drive which was really fun and a great way to meet others doing similar tours around Namibia.
Nothing! It was a really great stay. There are properties that are closer to the dunes, this one is about 40 mins away but we’d stay again and highly recommend.

Comfortable room and friendly welcome. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice surprise bottle of wine in our room as it was a special occasion. Good dinner on arrival and convenient location for the hot air balloon flight in the early morning.
It would've been preferable to have a double bed instead of 2 singles. The Aircon was leaking and dripping in our room. We would've appreciated some packed breakfast ahead of our very early check out as we had breakfast included in our stay but had to leave to early to have it.

We loved the welcome drink(cold tea) and the attentiveness of the staff who gave us advice to make our journey better. In the evening, during the dinner they set a bone fire and it created lovely atmosphere as well. They have a swimming pool with the beautiful mountain view as well.
We did not particularly enjoy that after we checked in and while we were on dinner, staff went into our room and set the bed for sleeping (put a fairy tale and chocolate on the bed). I understand that intention was good and it was indeed lovely, but i think it would be better to warn guests that staff will go into their room.

We truly enjoyed our stay! Be prepared for large changes in temperature and always fill-up your tank whenever you see a gas/diesel station! Management and employees at the Lodge truly go out of their way to make everyone happy. The shower had plenty of hot water, and the bedroom had good beds! We left feeling rejuvenated!
First and foremost, the Lodge must do something about the internet in the rooms since it's extremely weak, and worse yet, it flat-out doesn't work when there are high winds. When cold fronts with high winds come through the region in winter, the lodges and many buildings in Namibia are just not built to insulate properly, so despite a log fire, it's very important to bring warm clothes and even keep your coat on during dinner, although heaters in the rooms are very good. In July, one must expect some cold weather and rather than feel uncomfortable, it's best to be prepared. Also, bring wrap-around sunglasses that keep blowing sand out of your eyes!
