The owner, Matt, was incredibly accommodating and did everything in his power to ensure my stay was the best it could be after airline headaches. Very cool little spot along the coast that's roughly midway between Girdwood and Anchorage. Definitely old school accommodations that are a labor of love for the owner and staff. Would definitely stay here again if ever in the area. Awesome staff, pool table, great kitchen, and cozy rooms.

Facilities are perhaps a little old and tired, but it was cozy and clean on a cold, snowy night and a very friendly place on top of it all.

Convenient, comfortable, cheaper than anything in downtown Anchorage. Plenty of parking and a bar downstairs, a restaurant 500 feet up the road. The room was fine, good internet, surprisingly quiet considering the highway is fairly close.

The only issue would be you need a car.

Comfortable bed, clean room, good location, good price for Alaska in the summer. Food was good at the restaurant.

Window was dirty and the screen had paper stuffed in the bottom as it didn't fit well. Room was very small and building was dated.

great place to eat and drink on the way to fishing out of Seward. Small rooms with toilet and shower. Nice to shut the bar down and stumble to your room. it's everything you would expect. The bar staff are great folks.

all good for our group...might be not so good if you are a light sleeper

Quaint & rustic. Nice out of the way spot with a local watering hole serving great bar food right downstairs.

Walls are thin so if your neighbor’s noisy it could be an issue. For me though a baby crying for a couple minutes isn’t an issue!

This was an ideal and affordable stay on the way back from Kenai peninsula to Anchorage - the room had all amenities and was very cosy and comfortable. The whole stay was very relaxed and enjoyable, with a really cool pub downstairs, that is dog-friendly.

It’s comfortable and easy to get to. The view from the window is beautiful and either direction it is full of the Great Alaskan Landscape! Mountain ranges in the back and Inlet views in the front with the sounds of a creek on the side.

It was a little cold. Other than that everything was great!

This is a good location for those arriving on evening flights to ANC, with next day activities in Whittier or Seward. You get part of the drive out of the way for an early start the next day.

Kind of primitive, but I slept like a rock after a long day of airline travel.

I really enjoyed staying at the Brown Bear. It is not fancy, but it is clean. Each room has a private bathroom with a shower. Probably the best value in Alaska. The Saloon had a great cheeseburger. Matt was very pleasant and talkative.
