+ Nice and authentic hotel. + The bathroom amenities were good. + You're left alone at breakfast. No one hovering over you. + The view from the room was amazing. + Nice and plentiful breakfast. + The location: Middle of old town.

+ You need to pay for parking. In another hotel it was free. + The location is a bit noisy if you open the windows: hearing bells every hour, people talking downstairs. + The light from the shop downstairs is a bit strong at night. It reaches the room.

This hotel is located in the old town of Appenzell. It’s a short level stroll from the train station. My bed was very comfortable & the bedroom had traditional paintings & features which added to the charm. I found the staff to be welcoming & helpful. The breakfast was delicious & a great start to the day. I was really, really happy that they were able to provide some extra gluten free products for me as I am a coeliac. I stayed two nights here & thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The property is exactly as described on the website.

There is nothing to dislike.

We enjoyed our 1 night stay, we had 2 rooms for our family of 4. The 2 rooms were near each other and were a decent size. The bathroom was small but adequate. The room had plenty of storage. The buffet breakfast was excellent with a good variety of pastries, cheeses, cereal, eggs, juice and coffee. We also appreciated being allowed to store our luggage pre check-in and after check out.

I like the most are theirs staff, people whom are working there, they are so nice and willing to help, you feel no distance.

The hotel is in the very center of the city so to arrive at the hotel it’s not easy because many streets is only for walking

We liked the locations and the ambiance of the hotel. It felt like a hotel in a historic building should feel. It was decorated in a very homey style.

The pillows were flat for us, however that seemed to be a common theme for everywhere we stayed during out two week trip to Switzerland and Austria. We did obtain extra pillows which helped some.

although we arrived at lunch time and the reception was not manned, one of the hotel staff was very kind to let us know that we can deposit our luggage at their luggage storage and come back after our activities to check in. the rooms were also nice and airy, big enough and comfortable. its proximity to the train station is a plus point. good variety and quality breakfast. restrospectively, we would have stayed in appenzell and hotel Lowen longer than the 1 night we did this time.

Great little hotel in the middle of the town. We loved the room decoration, with appenzell-specific furnishing, it was truly wonderful. Very clean, spacious room. Good breakfast. Very good location. We were lucky to have windows facing the street the Easter procession passed through, it was lovely. This time we only stayed for one night, but we would definitely be back at this hotel next time we visit Appenzell.

Very difficult to find a parking spot in a warm spring day, but that's not the hotel's fault :)

A big room! The receptionist spoke great english. Easy to communicate with. A loved the bread bun that I also bought home later from the bakery. I wish could have stayed longer, that is my only regret.

I loved this hotel!! Perfect location right in the middle of town and close to train. The room is spacious and really nicely decorated. The bed was the most comfortable in our month long trip and it was fluffy and super comfy. The breakfast was excellent!! The staff was ver welcoming!

We liked everything!!

Outstanding place, beautiful rooms, everything clean and organized, really great place to stay. And the city is also really charming, good food and people.

The couple's bed is actually two single beds togheter. But it's not a big deal, the great mattress makes you forget about it.
