I found the breakfast to not really be much of anything The packaged croissants were horrible. I took one bite and left it. I was expecting more of a real fresh breakfast of fruit and pastry, not juice (which I don't drink) and packaged pastry I could get out of a machine.

Breakfast

We hadn’t been to Catania before it’s quite lively and chaotic at times. The hotel was in the centre and near all the activity but quiet and had everything we needed, there were three couples staying there for a wedding - there were three rooms with a kitchen and office area. We had an iron, hairdryers everything we needed to get dressed for the wedding. They also had left complementary treats in our fridge. The breakfast cafe around the corner (2mins walk) was traditional and perfect for us, there were lots of great Sicilian restaurants in walking distance as well. The city bus stop was near for travelling to other areas.

The rooms here are so lovely. They are absolutely spotless with a huge, comfy bed. There is excellent attention to detail - there are robes and slippers, a vanity kit (nail file etc) and a sewing kit. There was a fridge with complimentary drinks and snacks. We could get Netflix on the TV too! The location is great, right in the middle of where you want to be in Catania. All instructions about how to get in were very clear and helpful. Giuseppe sent us lots of great recommendations for places to eat etc during our stay.

Nothing, will definitely stay here again!

We stayed in the Palazzo for one night - a little gem of a place tucked away down a quite street behind a large door. Our room was beautiful. It overlooked a busy street but the windows were soundproofed so we heard absolutely nothing. Equipped with everything you would need, spotless clean. The host provided a bottle of bubbly and goodies which we enjoyed later that night on the balcony overlooking the street below. Correspondence with the host as excellent. Token given for breakfast nearby. The palazzo was within easy walking distance of the town.

There was no parking at the property and parking was difficult to find nearby. The nearest carpark was full, so we paid a local guy for street parking - I don't know whether this was legal or not, but there were quite a few "car park attendants" around directing people into car park spots! We moved the car the next day into the car park.

Lovely spacious room , spotlessly clean, great central location. Little balcony overlooking the street was nice. Self check-in instructions were clear and all went smoothly

I found it a bit off-putting that there was never a person at the property. However, having said that, the nameless manager did respond very quickly to any questions via WhatsApp, but everything was “remote. “ The room was a little noisy some nights - doesn’t bother us much because we live in a city but might not be great for light sleepers. The breakfast at a nearby cafe was a bit sparse. (One coffee/tea drink & one pastry)

The location and ambience were amazing so close to everything

To stay at Palazzo del Verga is a true Italian/sicilian experience. When we go through the first gate, into the courtyard, we feel like in Elena Ferrante's novel, or in a movie by De Sicca - Catania, though in Sicilia, has a very similar atmosphere to Naples. The building is smartly decadent, but inside the apartments are modern and confortable. The detail of the room painted ceiling is adorable (renovated frescos). Although it is situated in the old town - 5 minutes from the Duomo -, and very lively during the day and the night, the place is quiet.

Great location - in the city centre with bars and restaurants on the street and walking distance to most sights. Even though there is a lot of activity on the street, because the hotel is located in the courtyard there was no noise coming from the street. The room and bathroom were clean (probably the cleanest among all different locations we stayed during our trip to Sicily). In the morning of arrival we received e-mail and WhatsApp message to ensure contactless check-in, as well as recommendations about restaurants/bars/cafes to visit. We enjoyed our stay.

All was good.

Excellent location in easy walking distance to the principal sights of the old city and surrounded by restaurants and cafes. The room and bathroom were both spacious - the bedroom had a pretty painted ceiling. We appreciated the comfortable bed and the fact that there was just a sheet rather than a duvet as the weather was very warm during our stay (blankets were available if we'd needed them). Air conditioning was also good. Robes and slippers were provided as were some drinks and snacks, and towels were big and fluffy. Host was very responsive to questions sent via WhatsApp and also provided recommendations for cafes and restaurants - we particularly liked Cafe Canusciuti for breakfast and Cuore Fresco near the Duomo for lunch.

No daily housekeeping, perhaps because we were there over a weekend, but it would have been nice if our bins had been emptied and the bathroom had been cleaned. Wifi was not working properly but the host found a technician able to work on a Sunday and this was fixed by our last night. I found it a little strange to communicate with our host only via WhatsApp and never learned his/her name. Also WhatsApp is only useful when the wifi is working so we were glad that we had hired a wifi dongle for this trip.

The property was beautifully presented , a lovely quadratura (painted ceiling), good facilities (including combined wireless charging/lamp) each side of the bed. It was quiet and well located as you could easily walk to most of the interesting sites and had a good choice of bars, restaurants, shops nearby. We really enjoyed our stay in Palazxo del Vergo and highly recommend staying there when visiting Catania which was a much more interesting destination than we anticipated.
