Villa Asfodeli is an absolute gem! It's a gorgeous complex of three houses, and right in front of them is a beautiful garden with a relaxing swimming pool and an incredible view of the valley and rolling hills with vines overlooking the sparkling sea. The old houses have been skillfully and lovingly restored with the utmost attention to detail and the origins of the place, while still offering all the modern comforts you could ask for. The owner (architect) and his wife have truly created an oasis of tranquility, relaxation and comfort. We stayed in the oldest house, the Deriu house, a beautifully restored 17th-18th century building, in apartment 204, which was tastefully furnished with 19th-century pieces and well balanced decorations specific to the region. The apartment has all the comforts of home, including a kitchenette equipped with everything you need, ingeniously embedded in an old wardrobe so that the design of the living room is not affected. And there's more! You'll also find a superb terrace with a view of the sea, an open fireplace (which I think can enliven a stay in the off-season). I can't recommend the location enough, whether you have children or not. It's so well thought out! The clever separation of the different areas, with their own seating, terraces and gardens, gives you a real sense of privacy, even though the villa was fully occupied for the six nights we stayed. If you go, you have to try the apricot, lemon and orange jam for breakfast! They make it themselves, from the local fruit, and it's absolutely amazing. You've got to try the homemade cakes and the local honey too. And ask the lady owner, who's a lovely person, for details about the place and surroundings (a lot of things can be done, but you'll need a car).

Thanks to Maria Cristina, Franca and Antonio and all the other friendly and professional staff who made our stay memorable. This really is a hotel de charme, situated in a quiet town which is very well positioned to enjoy the area's sights and the sea., . We stayed in a superior room in the beautifully restored old house, and loved the balcony with the view to the sea, the large, very green gardens with plenty of loungers and secluded spots, and the pool with bar service. We enjoyed breakfast on the terrace and dinner in the restaurant/pizzeria next door, where the food is very good. Aircon in the bedroom was excellent. We borrowed a beach umbrella, rented a bike and Antonio and Franca booked kayaking for us - nothing was too much trouble. We will be back.

Nothing. It would be nice to have extra dining options in the town but the next door restaurant is very good and great value, and Bosa is close enough to nip in for dinner.

If you want to feel Sardinia with all your senses, wake up to a picturesque views of vineyard and olive groves in a suite with stylish italian furniture from 19th century this hotel is the right place for you! It's stylish, charming, has a pool with a magnificent view. The Staff is very helpful and provide their customers with fantastic recommendations on what to see in the area. We stayed at this hotel at the end of our Sardinian journey and it was definitely an incing on the cake. We highly recommend this hotel.

Everything was perfect!

We really loved staying here. The garden is amazing, with beautiful spots to drink coffee and enjoy the nice view. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend staying here—and ask for the room in the garden. Also, big plus, the beds were very comfortable, and for those who need total darkness while sleeping, they have you covered. :) It was a really beautiful stay.

We had a heads-up, so we were expecting it. It's very close to the church, so the bells can be a bit loud in the morning. But besides that, we really have nothing to complain about.

Extremely helpful and fiendly staff in every part of the hotel. Very good breakfast and facilities such as swimmingpool and large garden with views as far as the ocean. Beds are comfortable (slightly hard, but that meets our preferences) Village is sufficient regarding some café's and a small pizzeria nearby and parking no problem. What we enjoyed most is the fact that one can explore the region really well, whereby the hotel is well situated for this purpose. A great variety of beaches, walks, towns/villages to choose from and everything within 1 to 1 1/2 hours drive by car. Cycling tours also available. Highly recommendable, small scale family hotel with a strong focus on guest well being.

The possibilty to have lunch in the hotel might be a suggestion. Drinks are available however.

Lovely gardens, a swimming pool and views to the sea. The breakfast was fantastic with lots of choices including fresh bread, fruit, yogurt, and homemade cakes in the beautiful outdoor setting. Wonderful staff including Osimo, Franca, Giani and the owner, Christina. They were aways available to help in any way or with suggestions for beaches etc. We were even given a kettle in our room which was not normally done. The small supermarket across the road was very well stocked and at the suggestion of staff we often bought food there for our dinner to eat in our courtyard when we were supplied with crockery and cutlery.

Very little choice of restaurants close by… the one next door is very basic & not very cheap… called a pizzeria but no pizza available! You need to drive down to Bosa (11 kms) to have a choice of eateries. Beautiful turquoise beaches (Mari Ermi & Arutas) with easy acces, are about an hour drive away

Loved the location with the pool as it was hot weather. Originally we wanted to stay in Bosa but couldn’t get accomodation then were so happy we were at Villa Asfodeli. Christina was amazing , all staff so lovely. We stayed an extra night we loved it so much. Also sensational breakfast.

I loved everything but it would be nice to hsve another place to eat if you don’t want to drive . Although in the end we felt like family at the restaurant next door. We loved them too.

The pool and the whole courtyard were my top features of this place. They were truly awesome, and the view is one of the best in any accommodation I've ever been in. I can't rate the old building since when we got there, we were told we had an upgrade - we were sent to rooms that are separate from the building, inside of a small house in the backyard near the pool. I can't say if this is truly an upgrade since we never saw the rooms in the old building. As for the rooms we got, the plus was that we had our own little terrace outside where we could eat breakfast separately, but the waiter doesn't serve there - you have to get your own coffee/drinks from the bar. The room was nice BUT it had a moldy smell which was a big minus for me. We didn't say anything because we were staying just for two days and didn't feel like making a commotion, and also we were just going to sleep in the rooms and spend whole days outside, but it was definitely a minus. Breakfast was nice, it had everything I needed and more: eggs, nice sausages, cheese, sweet stuff I don't eat, cereals etc, yogurt, nice pastries, fruit, vegetables...

We could have been asked if we wanted that upgrade or not. I wouldn't choose the rooms in the backyard if I knew they had a moldy smell. The parking place is under the trees in front of the house - after just one day my car was covered top to bottom in pigeon droppings.

What a fabulous hotel, with amazing views, a wonderful garden and pool, a fabulous room and staff who go the extra mile to please their guests. We loved our stay at this quality hotel and really enjoyed the wonderful breakfasts. Our room was large, clean, quiet and cool enough not to use the air conditioning unit. Many thanks for being so attentive in your care of us, which was much appreciated.

Nothing to fault, but we may have enjoyed the option of an evening meal, even if it were only offered 2 nights per week.

Friendly welcome from Franki at reception, breakfast staff and the owners, but especially the very warm, kind, helpful lady owner who noticed my mobility issues. Villa Gil Asfodeli is a charming beautiful old classical Italian mansion. Room 211 in Casa Dariu a separate building was very large, like an apartment with small fully equipped kitchen and additional sofa bed. The room also was a large open private terrace with loungers, table and chairs with amazing views over the countryside to the coast, perfect for watching the sun do down with a glass or two of wine. The buildings share the same wonderful gardens. The peacefulness and gardens beside the pool were extremely relaxing with the sounds only of the church bells. Breakfast was fine with plenty of choices and homemade cakes. Would have liked more fresh fruit (not just watermelon) and freshly squeezed orange juice. I would recommend the Villa to anyone who wants a more authentic Sardinia in a slightly rural setting with a homely touch. The town is very quiet but the supermarket when open has lovely products and the restaurant next door (open wed-sun) served very good seafood and pasta dishes. Must give a shout out to Antico Caffè where we got lunch when we arrived as everything else was closed including the supermarket but we had a fantastic tomato and sardinian cheese salad and fresh calamari with very helpful service as the kitchen had just closed. There were options for biking and trekking but we didn't take part. Spaggia di Porto Alabe is lovely beach and is only about 5km away.

Did not provide lunch, a light caprese salad or something similar would be a great option. The gardens are old and well developed but the patios a little uneven in parts for someone with mobility issues. Air-conditioning is centrally controlled and our didn't work on arrival as another guest had it on 'heat' but Franki got it sorted quickly and efficiently. Otherwise a great alternative choice to the regular tourist spots.
