This is a beautiful hotel. Expertly clean, a breathtaking view of the lake, and staff that takes pride in what they do. Each interaction with the staff here was kind, helpful, and they smiled and looked you in the eye. They truly cared about my experience. On booking.com it was not showing there to be a mini fridge in the room. I almost did not book it because I have medicine that needs refrigeration. I took the chance figuring they could help me with a solution. There is a mini fridge in the room The extra bonus was fresh, house made pastry in the morning.
Parking at the hotel proper can be challenging. They have an extra lot across the street to help. The road is just busy. There really is not a solution unless they get rid of the building for a parking lot, it's too beautiful for that. This is just a minor inconvenience.

My friend and I came for a 2 day getaway and were thrilled with the the St. Clair Inn. We stayed in the old part of the inn on the third floor. Our room was beautiful and clean. I loved the view out the window of the river and freighters going by. My friend and I both were absolutely floored at the quality of the food in The Dive. The wait staff in the restaurant as well as the front desk clerks went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. My friend is blind and the staff were helpful in orienting her to the hotel, where she needed to take her dog to potty, and showed care and respect in speaking with her.
Nothing!

Wonderful stay!! We were greeted warmly on arrival by Dave, Dave was very helpful and friendly. We had a special room request and Dave made it happen. We were so appreciative. He really made our stay! Dave shared information about the hotel, about the boardwalk and even provided a little information about the town. The Inn was SO BEAUTIFUL, in my opinion, and was even more beautiful in person. The photos don't do it justice. The room itself was beautifully decorated with quality finishes. The room was also very clean, comfortable and quiet. We cannot wait to return!
everything reached or EXCEEDED our expectations. No complaints.

The room was clean, comfortable and well decorated. The bathroom was a little small though. The thing I really liked was a light in the shower and a magnifying mirror in the bathroom as well.
Our stay was not that great because a number of other guest were very loud and playing loud music in the rooms around us at 1am in the morning. They didn't calm down until about 2-2:15am. We called the front desk twice to complain. We even noticed in the morning that if you were having a normal conversation you could hear it through the walls. Also, no coffee maker in room. They had this little espresso machine that barely made anything. For this supposedly being a nicer hotel it was a disappointment.

The historic quality of the buildings, the super clean rooms and facilities, and the overall atmosphere. -Peter Historic quality - so neatly preserved, so much so I could even envision days long gone. Such a neat style. Cleanliness - was incredibly impressed with the thorough level of cleanliness. Atmosphere - super unique (loved so many of the little details: closet with neat storage sections, strip lighting, nespresso machines, unique hardware, bathroom faucet, toilet paper dispenser, shower heads, wallpaper, and so much more!) and it also felt super homey still. Location - waterfront & a really neat historic town. -Christina
Anything that comes to mind is just convenience-culture inspired and if it was actually changed it would compromise the beautiful incredible historic integrity of the place. It was lovely. We can’t often afford to get away overnight and this was so worth it!

I grew up in St. Clair and lived in the area for most of my life. Yet, I had never stayed at the St. Clair Inn. We were in town for an event this weekend and decided to spend the night at the Inn for convenience and I'm so glad we did. We were checked into one of the prohibition rooms and it was in a word...Charming. So much character and care went into updating the room and yet retained the quiet comfort of days gone by. From the fixtures in the room to the decent modernized comforts, it felt more like staying with a friend than a hotel..in the best way. We woke up to a peaceful hum..nobody running up and down the halls or loud cleaning carts trying to get it all done right away. Just quiet...what a nice way to wake up. So if you have the chance, I highly recommend staying a night (or two) here at the Inn. Even at Christmas, there's room.
there was a draft from the window directly above the bed, and in the winter months, it could be an issue for comfort.

Room was a good size and bed was comfortable, all very clean. Facilities onsite were great, bar, etc. Location was excellent being able to walk into town.
I was a little annoyed that they waited until I was checking in to tell me the HVAC was broken in my room and I couldn’t control the temperature during my stay. Ended up being okay, a little hot at times, but it was something they should have notified me about via call or email whje I booked my stay or at least before I arrived.

The lobby and adjoining open areas are very attractive with two active fire places. The staff was very helpful and gracious. Our room, located in the older section of the hotel, has been nicely re-modeled, but given that the original building was constructed approximately 100 years ago, it was small by contemporary standards. There was no microwave or mini-fridge and there was only one chair to sit on. A staff member indicated that the rooms in the newer section of the property, which are currently undergoing renovation, are considerably more spacious.
The room was cramped. There was no microwave or mini-fridge which we are accustomed to having in hotel rooms we stay in. There was only one chair to sit on probably due to the limited space in the room.

We stayed in the North Tower area in a Patio Room. The decor was amazing. The view was breathtaking. Old World charm meets modern technology. I really appreciated the thoughtfulness put into the design of the room, the light fixtures, and the color combinations made the room very comfortable. I liked the Samsung smart tv and the steamer instead of an iron. The chairs on the patio were cute and comfortable. Corey and Nancy and all of the staff are amazing! They even offer daily housekeeping. The specials in The Dive were great. Great food and a great price!
The room was cold, and it took a long time to get the temperature up to 71. (I think they have a heat pump system). However, Corey brought us a blanket.

We stayed in the historic part of the hotel. It was truly unique. There is no elevator but the girl at the desk offered to carry my suitcase. I declined but wish I hadn't. The continental breakfast was just okay. Everything was sweet and I wished that maybe a bagel or corn muffin had been available. Also while the breakfast ran until 10 at 8:30 they had run out of plates, cups and silverware and regular coffee. It's a very elegant touch that they use real dishes and silverware. I wish that elegance had had continued with half and half instead of the fake cream. Everyone was super helpful and nice. It was wonderful to watch the freighters go by as we drank our coffee. We will be back.
