The kitchen was well-equipped and clean. It seems like guests were conscientious about tidying up after themselves, and the staff did an excellent job of maintaining the cleanliness.
One of the fridges had a milky substance spilled inside that leaked out to the floor, and a sign indicated that fridge cleaning only occurred on Thursdays and Sundays. The spill was present on Monday, and staff had simply placed towels over it to absorb the liquid. This left the fridge with an increasingly unpleasant odor until it was finally cleaned on Thursday. It would be beneficial if the cleaning schedule could be more flexible to accommodate unexpected spills.

Very nice hostel directly by the lake, 10 min walk to downtown. Spacious kitchen and common area, nice rooms with the standards of the other Haka Houses. Parking available to be booked in advance at 15NZD per day - there isn’t much parking available in the street.
I stayed at several Haka Houses in NZ and they’re all great, this one however was very loud in the evening! I couldn’t fall asleep until late as other guests were talking loudly and running in the corridor and through the stairs. Maybe some signs to invite guests to be more quiet and not run close to the rooms would be good.

Kitchen was always nicely cleaned in the morning (from the night staff), and new kitchen towels provided daily. Big nice kitchen. Lounge was cozy with the open fireplace (wasn't on every night though it seemed). Room was good size, did not feel to cramped even though there were 8 beds (4 bunk beds).
It was so cold in the female bathroom, after shower you were shivering again in less than 1 minute. Sitting down on the toilet seat was like sitting on ice, that was the worst thing about this trip (I travelled in July).

Great location alongside the lake, just a few minutes walk away from Steamer Wharf. Had everything I needed. Great kitchen and eating areas. Friendly staff on reception. Stayed in a 3 bed room and had a superb night’s sleep. Very clean. Perfect for my budget. It always helps too when you have considerate people in the room and they were. Thumbs up from me.
Parking can be an issue along the lakeside as it gets very busy. You can pay for parking at the hostel, but it wasn’t available for my first night. Still, found a space in the end.

The private king suite we had was amazing, super comfy bed, pretty view on the 3rd floor facing the lake with a little walkout balcony, private bathroom, mini fridge, kettle, and everything felt very clean. Overall, was a good space that has everything you could need with full kitchens and laundry services. The lounge room was pretty full so didn't get to use it but was very popular. Short walk from the city centre and close to the local Orbus bus stops.
The heater in the room wasn't the strongest so was chilly in the morning. Walking through the 2nd floor to get to the 3rd, it was quite smelly in the hallway, mix of body odours and washroom odours, not pleasant. The private room could use a larger garbage bin.

The staff was incredibly kind and helpful, the room was clean, modern, and functional. They had a laundry room and a drying room which was also very practical. Quite big common areas as well.
The beds were not so comfy according to me and the price quite high considering that no breakfast was included. In conclusion it's an amazing place if you have the budget for it 😉

Reception staff were helpful.
Some women in the shared bathroom were totally inconsiderate about things like hanging up the bathmats after use despite signs to do so. Consequently bathmats were often drenched and so unusable. Also on the first night, one or two women left personal rubbish (like clumps of hair, etc) on the floor of the bathroom, probably used to having some poor Mum pick up after them. Fortunately the bathroom was cleaned every evening.

My stay was awesome! I stayed 4 nights. Staff were great and friendly. I came for work. I’m a river guide and a bonus was to be able to dry all my wet gear out after each day on the river using their dry room, that was a nice bonus, the kitchen was big enough to accommodate and a tip- if you have a car then I definitely recommend booking a car park as parking in Queenstown is terrible and the rates at haka house are very reasonable

Great hostel, beds were comfy and the curtains were great, bed frames were fixed in dorms so they don’t make any noise like bunk beds would. Lots of space for storing stuff, and lots of kitchen space with lots of hobs, pots and pans etc. Nice chill area. Looks over the lake which is lovely.
Staff were nice but not answering the phone after hours at all when there were issues for other guests. It’s a 10 minute walk to town but actually it’s nice to be out of the loud party vibes at night.

Beautiful location by the lake, excellent kitchen facilities, they even had an air fryer and was well maintained (clean, plenty of fridges, cookers, microwaves etc). TV lounge like a mini cinema. Carpeted, clean en suite bedroom with curtains for privacy. Helpful staff.
Just a minor issue, I cut myself and the first aid kit didn’t have any antiseptic wipes but the staff noted this.
