Charming pub with rooms right opposite Tewkesbury Abbey, handy for shops, restaurants, etc, and as a base for exploring Tewkesbury. The pub has excellent car parking which is a real plus (free if you’re stopping there). The staff were all really welcoming and efficient, and the rooms were comfortable, and not overheated. Our room overlooked the beer garden, so it was incredibly quiet at night (although there was live music on in the evening, which was less quiet, although we were going out so not a problem). It’s a chain pub, so nothing novel about the menus but the food was good, particularly the breakfast which was excellent value at £12.50 for a full English and all you wanted from the continental buffet. Hot breakfasts were freshly cooked and delicious. The whole place represents excellent value for money.

The only things I can fault it on were that there is no lift, and a lot of little internal steps because it’s a medieval building, and has been added to at different times, so it wouldn’t be very suitable for anyone who can’t manage stairs, there may be ground floor rooms in other parts of the building but we didn’t see them. The decor in our bathroom was a little bit tired in places, but that’s a minor quibble for a weekend visit.

Exceptional Greene KIng property in an old part of town, good choices for breakfast and excellent service from the staff. My room overlooked the car park and main street and suffered a little from the seemingly original metal framed windows but for goodness sake this is what you buy into when you book a room in an old, old inn like this. Creaking stairs, ill-fitting doors and windows all come free of charge, enjoy while you can.

The scaffolding around the side of the building, but thankfully no noises associated with builders (radios, whistling, singing out of tune etc.) during my stay..

The room was clean and adequate but the shining star was the food. Breakfast was included in our stay and the quality was fantastic. They make the best cinnamon rolls I've ever had in my life, warm and fresh from the oven.

The hot water was a bit odd. There was plenty of it, which was good. But the sink had a mixer tap and sometimes turning it to the left produced cold water, other times turning it to the left produced scalding hot water so it was tricky to get the temperature you wanted as it seemed inconsistent. This last thing is a bit nitpicky, but the breakfast plates were not heated. The food was very tasty but my eggs were fairly cold but the time the food got to me. It was still very delicious and the toast and other food was still warm, but a warm plate would have meant that everything stayed warm.

I have been to the Bell when I lived locally but this was the first time staying there. It was pretty much as imagined with a perfectly serviceable single-bed room. The food at breakfast (included in my deal) and in the evening was freshly cooked and delicious. It is very close to the Abbey with occasional sounds of the bells, and very convenient for accessing the town.

I, personally, struggled a bit with the fairly steep stairs and the bath was a little slippery (though warning is given and I could have got a non-slip bath mat. Nothing major, though.

Very comfortable room, easy to reach on the first floor.

Problems in the kitchen meant we could not get a meal on the Monday and had to go out in the pouring rain to try and find food. Staff on that evening were less than helpful and also closed the bar at 9.00. Tried again on Tuesday but only had a limited menu. The idea of staying in a pub was that if we didn't want to go out we didn't need to as my mobility is not great.

The location directly opposite Tewkesbury Abbey was what sold it to me. It is at the south end of the main historic streets, -so a few minutes walk from everything that I wanted to see. Additionally, Tewkesbury is a short car trip from Gloucester, Cirencester and Cheltenham and a far more atmospheric place to stay. The Bell has a large restaurant area (we ate there on the Saturday evening ) and it is only a few minutes walk from a good selection of other eateries (Italian, Indian , Chinese, Thai etc.) Very glad that we had opted for breakfast - well worth the money and with a great selection including smoked salmon with scrambled eggs. Very friendly staff. Although sited near the river, The Bell is on the higher ground and was totally unaffected by the high water that had submerged nearby Victoria Gardens Would we stay there again? Most definitely !

Would have liked two chairs in the room rather than a single stool - but this is an old building with some necessary compromises on space/layout and the en-suite was generously sized. Because this is a pub with accommodation - rather than a hotel with 24 hour staffing - the public areas are locked up after about 11:30pm - a slight disappointment if you like somewhere quiet to read when your other half is watching TV in the bedroom.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Good location near town centre and Abbey. Traditional building but with modern facilities. Good continental breakfast, with fruit compote, fresh strawberries, multiple cereal options

Light bites menu in the restaurant was a bit limited in scope. The rooms in the annexe were modernised, but the actual building was rather noisy - water pipes whistling, floorboards creaking and ticking loudly at all hours, single glazed windows allowed vehicle sounds from car park

It's an old creaky building, but I like that. The room was basic but comfortable, just as the photos suggested, and the bathroom spacious enough with a nice shower over the bath. A comfortable bed ensured my 2 night stay was fine. I had a lovely continental breakfast both mornings with plenty of choice. Cooked breakfasts were available too.

The evening meal service could be more professional.with the staff not very attentive, but that's me being a bit picky.

Excellent staff, very helpful and friendly. Greeted everyone with smiles and seemed to really enjoy their work, couldn't fault them! Both Evening meals and Breakfasts were superb. Have stayed here a couple of times before but many years ago before I became seriously ill. Glad to be back! (also nice to see Dogs accepted in the bar)

The old hotel car park now seems to be a public parking area so there were no spaces available when we arrived. We did get in eventually and were given parking permits but I think there should be allocated spaces for the hotel.

firstly the parking is excellent. Right next to the hotel and lots of space available. The staff were all really friendly. The breakfast was really nice and nothing was any trouble. I only ate once in the evening but the food was good. The location was ideal for going to Cheltenham races since it was a 15min drive to the track down country roads most of the way. If you want to eat out in the evening then there seems to be every type of restaurant within walking distance. If you want to watch anything on Sky or BT then I would recommend going to the Anchor on the HIgh street - watch out though since it does not serve food, but they do let you bring your own food in and there is a domino's over the road.

That I had to go out to watch Sky and BT...minor problem though
