Pool, setting, location and staff were all fantastic. Everyone was so friendly and perfect place to stay to go to the sanctuaries and rainforest discovery centre. Then after long hot days you could go in the pool and relax amongst the marvellous gardening and jungle.

Unfortunately the dorm building was very echoey. This meant slamming doors, children screaming, hairdryers and talking were even louder and more disruptive than usual. Hostel etiquette was also quite lacking and the noise went on late into the night and started early in the morning. Maybe some signs asking not to use the hair dryer/ talk loudly after 10pm, some slow close doors and not letting children under 5 stay in the dorms would have made it a more peaceful stay.

- the staff were very friendly and always willing to help. - the dorms were clean and comfortable. We were the only ones staying in the room! - the pool was lovely and refreshing on the hot days we stayed. - food was reasonably priced which was good considering there are no restaurants nearby.

- Not the property’s fault but there are no ATMs nearby so make sure you bring cash as most the local attractions don’t accept card. - We asked for price of laundry 3 times and were told “I’ll get a price but maybe 70” for the 2 bags of washing we had. This is very steep and so we asked to only do half of one bag and get back to us with price. They sent it to laundry without telling us price then charged 80 for only half a bag! Laundry wasn’t even turned the right way out let alone folded. Very expensive for poor service (although quite sure this was outsourced but would rather have held onto washing and got it done at our next hotel which only charged 10 per kg). - There was never any toilet roll in the ladies toilets next to the dining area.

Close to Rain Forest Discovery Centre, you can walk to and from which is handy for Night Walk. Easy to get a Grab to Sun Bear and Orang Utan Centres. Also recommend getting a Grab to ‘The Nest’ restaurant for lunch (yummy burgers). Many tour groups stay at BSRR but we found in general to be quiet with tranquil gardens. Pool was a bonus, as very hot in Sepilok during the day. Fairly basic, rustic accommodation but aircon worked well and the room we booked did the job for 2 nights stay. Reasonable 12 noon checkout meant we could have a swim and shower before our flight. Breakfast included, but few choices. However we ate dinner here both nights and enjoyed the homely Malay food.

Light globes need to be replaced. No hand towel for handwashing. Many mosquitoes around so keep bug spray handy. But we are in the Borneo Jungle after all! 🙂

Walking distance to Rainforest Discovery center, orangutan sanctuary and sun bear sanctuary!

When we booked online it said that there were only two beds left. We imagined that we were coming to a full booked dorm - turned out we were alone. Actually we were the only ones there the first night and it was 4 bedrooms with bunk beds. Not so fully booked after all.. Beside us there were several big travel groups and you didn’t get the tranquil vibe. To add on to this the staff held karaoke shows and others came to the mic to get their shot at the microphone. This was also the only place they had wifi so you had to endure their lousy karaoke. The food also needs improvement - tasteless and mediocre, and the restaurants closes at 830pm. It also would be nice if the cleaning happens more often - so many employees and still the trash/toiletpaper/etc wasn’t taken care of.

Staff were absolutely amazing! So friendly and caring. Food was great and the overall resort was beautiful. Perfect location between Sandakan/ Sandakan airport, the rainforest centre and the orangutans/sunbears. Really enjoyed my time here.

Would be nice to have mosquito nets added to the dorm beds as there were a lot around.

This place was beautiful! We are backpackers and did not expect to be staying in such an up market accommodation for so cheap! We booked a dorm room and had it all to ourselves which was perfect! Staff were always super friendly and helpful and they had delicious food - especially the Gobi masala curry! It is a 15 minute walk from the orangutang sanctuary and maybe a 10 minute walk from the rainforest reserve.

We were put next to some noisy people one of the nights which was slightly annoying but not their fault.

Modern resort with an airy reception/restaurant, nice pool and individual bungalows in an attractive setting. Well located for Sepilok attractions WiFi (at reception) and food both excellent and attentive service

The receptionist took a 40% commission when booking a car to visit the monkey sanctuary, so we felt ripped off and we overpaid as a result The hotel price was expensive given it was twice that of Nature Lodge opposite and most other accommodations - admittedly a nicer setting and better rooms but to charge double is too steep

The main house is nice with a lot of places to sit and chill, pool is good as well. The whole area towards the Chalets is beautiful with a lot of plants and flowers. I was in a dorm and the shared bathrooms are very good as there are 4 rooms with shower, toilet and sink all to yourself.

The food is overprized and awful. Both the breakfast buffet and the a la carte menu were terrible. You are way better off eating out as it's also cheaper

The resort is so gorgeous and we loved our stay here! So close to the sanctuaries and really peaceful location. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and helped us organise our stay with a trip to the river cruise where we managed to see some elephants!

We were in the dorm room, which for the price didn’t get give you much. The beds had no curtains or side lights and the storage space was extremely limited! Still enjoyed our stay but could be improved with a few changes!

The staff is so friendly, the restaurant is good and a great prize. The pool is nice and clean just as the rest of the resort. The rooms are amazing, I stayed in a dorm, really big beds and nice airconditioning. You feel like a princess (even in the dorm). The whole place looks like paradise, i think would be a great place for a honeymoon

The opening times of the pool could be better, it opens at 10 on the weekend and 1 on a weekday. I was there for one night after the jungle tour and I wish I could have a nice swim after breakfast Also the breakfast could be better, more options would be great (now it's a bit of a British breakfast). With these adjustments this resort would be a 10!
