Location of Grianaig House was perfect for exploring South Uist and connecting islands as it is located just off the main spinal road through the islands. The property had great contemporary decor, the room was very comfortable, warm and spotlessly clean. The bed extremely comfortable. Chris and Carla were fabulous hosts and their expertise and experience in hospitality very evident in how the Guest House was managed creating a wonderful relaxing space after a busy day sight seeing. Their advise and local knowledge was extremely helpful when planning a day exploring the area. The property sported a well stocked selection of alcoholic beverages and an 'honesty bar' system in place. Evening meals were offered and bookable daily. The food was of a very high standard, Chris is an excellent cook. My dietary requirements were acknowledged and very well catered for. We had an excellent stay and experience at Grianaig House and planning a return visit next year. Thank you Chris and Carla.
There was nothing we didn't like at this property. It ticked all the boxes for us when researching suitable accommodation on the island. Not having a television in our room was so beneficial to our overall stay making our holiday so much more relaxing for the seven nights we were there.

Carla and Chris have a wonderful location and offer a service that stands high above others. The place is perfectly kept and clean, rooms are large and well furnished. They were always ready to support us and when we had a problem with another booking reservation they helped us and solved it in minutes. The place offers also a restaurant service for dinner but forget home dining... Chris is a professional and what you will receive at your table is what you are expecting when dining at an high end restaurant. I have a regret: one of the evenings we wanted to try another place... big error. If you go to Uist you should not consider other places. We hope to be able to return soon!

Very welcoming owners, the standard of accommodation, food and facilities were excellent. Perfect location for exploring the Uists as close to the main road, but no traffic noise at all. Fantastic selection of teas, coffee in the lounge and a very well stocked honesty bar.
Very occasional noise from room next door when they used wall sockets - could hear the plug going in, switch on then hairdryer noise. Breakfast timings quite tight - 8 to 8.45am. After a long day travelling the day before, would have preferred a slightly later breakfast time but told not possible.

A stunning property. We stayed in one of larger bedrooms and it was huge. We had a peek into one of the smaller bedrooms and they were still plenty big enough. The entire property is modern, beautifully decorated with very high quality finishes. Every detail has clearly been thought through, we wanted for nothing. The bed was huge and very, very comfortable. The internet worked very well. The lounge was lovely with excellent tea and coffee facilities, hot chocolate as well. A good range of alcoholic drinks were available for purchase. The included breakfast was excellent with four choices covering all tastes, light, vegetarian, hearty, etc. We had the additional dinner offered for purchase both nights of our stay and it was outstanding, again with four choices to cover all requirements. Chris is an outstanding chef. The hosts were exceptionally friendly and helpful, the property gave us all the privacy we desired, but it was also nice to chat to other guests at times in the lounge, a perfect balance. We visited Barra and Vatersay for the day, the ferry times work out very well, and the property is well situated to enjoy the Uists, or to travel onwards to Harris and Lewis which we did. This is hospitality at its best.
Nothing, this property is a role model for bed and breakfast at its very, very best.

We were using The Grianaig as a stopover after arriving on the ferry from the mainland, but in fact, it is a destination itself. Chris and Carla were wonderful. The home is cozy, modern, immaculately clean, and the beds were so comfortable that we didn't want to get up, but the smell of homemade bread coming from the kitchen took care of that. Chris is an accomplished chef, and his dinner was one of the best of our trip. They brought their experience of operating a restaurant in Cornwall to a charming house on the edge of the world, and their surprised guests are the beneficaries, Oh, and you'll leave your outdoor shoes in the foyer. No mud or sheep poo in these bedrooms!
I did not like having to leave. The place was perfect.

The food presented by Chris was of amazing quality. He is an exceptional chef and I would wholeheartedly recommend the guest house for its breakfast and dinner. It is worth taking the dinner each night as you will not be disappointed. The rooms are exquisitely designed and appointed. Both Chris and Carla are superb hosts and are always on hand to help sort you out.
There is not a huge amount to do nearby, but this a great base to head further up into Uist or to head to Barra for the day. The property is so nicely kept, it may not suit people who are messy or noisy.

We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay at this truly lovely place. The decor is high-end, as is the attention to detail, all carefully planned to ensure a very comfortable stay for their guests in luxurious rooms. The breakfast was really exceptional. The hosts also provide the service of evening meals and we were disappointed not to have been able to try those - our loss as we were elsewhere that evening. They also provided quality hot drinks and home bakes and the option of a tipple at night from a well-stacked range of drinks - an honesty box system was in place for the latter. We wished we could have stayed longer! This is a great excuse to return to South Uist. Highly recommended, this is one of the very best places we have had the pleasure of staying in, and we've stayed in many. Thank you to the hosts and congratulations on all your hard work to create an absolute gem of a guest house which will be hard to match.
Absolutely nothing to add here.

We had a small but superb room. The guesthouse has a large lounge for everyone where you can help yourself with complimentary coffe or tea and a honesty Bar with all drink possibilities you may think of. The dinner was the best we ever had in several stays throughout Scotland. Chris is a professional chef and you taste it! Carla and Chris are lovely hosts who do everything to make a stay an unforgettable experience.

Everything! Beautiful surroundings. Beautiful decor with big beds, lovely bed linen, expansive views to watch wildlife - we were thrilled to see owls. Owners Carla and Chris could not have been more accommodating and welcoming. Everything has been very well thought through and is immaculate. The food was such a highlight that we booked in for dinner on both evenings that we stayed. Don’t miss this! The gasps of delight from fellow guests said it all! Chris catered to my vegan diet preference at the drop of a hat too which was much appreciated - thank you! Lots of recommendations about the local area. Literally, we liked everything and highly recommend this fantastic guest house.
We loved it all and wished we were staying longer!
