Our stay was absolutely perfect. Location is gorgeous. Hosts are available and nice. The bedroom was clean and perfectly comfortable with a private bathroom and a shared kitchen and living area with a fireplace (which was really nice to meet other guests). Absolutely loved the sauna and cold plunge in the frozen lake, as well as the hut with a fire to warm up while looking at the northern lights. The food at the restaurant was good and the activities offered were great. Bonus point for the free snow shoes and cross country skies, as well as the reindeers. Would recommend 100%.
Everything was perfect.

The accommodation was amazing. We were staying in one of the three lakeside cabins and they were great. The cabin itself was as beautiful on the inside as on the outside. It was very cozy with the fireplace and the large windows. You have a lot of privacy and still have amazing views over the (frozen) lake. It came with a fully equipped kitchen (👍🏼) and a very comfortable bathroom. The bedrooms were cozy and the beds were comfortable. Small but nice detail was the visualized manual (with pictures!) they left on the table which included all the instructions on how to use i.e. the fireplace, sauna etc. Makes it easy to do things yourself without having to constantly ask for help ◡̈ Unfortunately it was cloudy during our 3-day stay, but the owners were very helpful in making sure we got to see the Auroras. They arranged a last minute tour for us and because of that we got to see them!! And on my birthday as well so that was very big plus.
Nothing to dislike, really. A few little upgrades to the cabin, like a slighly wider bathroom counter to put all of your stuff and maybe a small coffee table in front of the couch to rest your feet. We improvised one and made do with it, so definitely not necessary but would be a nice addition ◡̈

The accommodation arranged our transfers from Ivalo airport and that went smoothly. The driver (Jouni) stopped at the local supermarket so we could stock up on supplies. The accommodation (we stayed in the Halla cabin) was self-catering but there is an excellent restaurant on site that does breakfast, lunch and dinner, so you can decide how many meals you want to make yourself vs eating in the restaurant. The cabin was excellent - glass on both sides of the living area, one side had a terrace and looked towards the frozen river, and the other side faced the reindeer farm. There was a wood fire and wood (and fire starters) was supplied. Heating was also provided by a hot air heater, it was all very effective. The bedroom had glass on one side, looking towards the river. All windows had electric black-out blinds, which were also effective. The bathroom was really nice too. We went on a few excursions, ie, snow shoeing, cross country skiing and ice fishing. I highly recommend all of them. We were provided with a thermal suit when we wanted one (important for ice fishing as not moving around very much). To get to the ice fishing lake, we had a sleigh ride behind a snowmobile, very exciting! We caught several fish and the chef prepared a delicious starter with them that night in the restaurant - delicious! There was total silence, something I have rarely experienced. Being in a remote location, there was only occasional sound of human noise. A real treat and something to be cherished in this noisy world. And we got to see the northern lights from our cabin, three nights out of five! I 100% recommend this accommodation, we are planning our next visit!
It was all amazing, could not fault anything.

The employees are very kind, helpful and friendly. Especially Lots of love to Anita at the reception. Emma s reindeers farm is also located in the facility. You can pet, feed and take a tour with reindeers. Also emma can tell lots of details about Sami lifesyle and tradition. Husky tour was amazing. On the other hand, If you rent a car you can drive to nordkapp for 3 hours. Or santa clausvillage in roveniemi drive for 3 hours from the giellajohka. We catched up the Aurora borealis almost allnight during our stay. Just you need in here is clear sky to see northern lights. We treasured up great memories here. I hope we will meet again in future. Guys you are amazing. Facility is cozy. Note: Ski and snow shoeing equipment we used freely.

Amazing experience. Location is remote and far from light pollution, perfect to witness the northern lights. They have all the required equipment and facilities to support that like gears and fire cabins, one by a river. Their reindeer farm is amazing as well. The staffs are very nice and helpful. They were able to arrange me a birthday cake on short notice which meant a lot. This place is a real winter wonderland indeed.
There’s no such thing to not like there. Maybe the public transport options to other towns/cities are limited which is the case in most places except for big cities. In winters renting a car is highly recommended.

Exceptional. A beautiful frosty dawn was quite magical. When I visited Sliida, the Sami museum in Narvic, I thought Giellajohka, (Sami spelling for Kielajoka,) had many similar buildings. Comfortable interiors and basic facilities providing everything you need in a delightful Sami look village. No reindeer or Beth their Sami herder were present during my stay in September but I just loved wandering around the river and admiring the variety of cabins.
Nothing I can remember. My room was cold when the temperature dropped suddenly one night. I was on my own so borrowed the portable heater from the bathroom for a while and soon my lovely tiny room was warm. The previous night there were several guests and I think they lit the large wood burner in the lounge area in middle of cabin and I had not done this.

Great place! we stayed in Fisherman cottage just at the lake. It was super cosy. Sauna was nice and we plunged in the ice hole to cool down. We ate dinners there twice and food was delicious. We were able to use ski shoes and skies for no extra costs. Good location to spit the northern lights (if you lucky... we were). Nice circular walks around; easy cross-country skiing routes. Plenty outdoor activities.
all was awesome

Had a wonderful time in Giellajohka. The people were very nice and with a great disposition. Have really cool activities with awesome guides that tell you a little bit about Finland, their culture and way of living making the time more nurturing. Hope I get to come back some day.

The 3 Cats! 🐈⬛ 🐈 🐈⬛ It was my very first time solo travelling & the Staffs were very nice & helpful. I tried to book a husky safari but it was fully booked & they helped me find an alternative options so i can do the husky safari in Inari instead. I only have 3 nights so my schedule were really cramped. I still manage to do the things i wanted to do. Whatapp group for Aurora borealis sightings within the property. you dont need to book an aurora hunting trip because it is directly outside of your window if the weather allows it. the food choices are great! I really liked the Fish soup & Reindeer sautéed! Reindeer farm within the property.

The location was really easy to find, with clear signages, and the bus stop is right in front of the property! Check in was a breeze and it was easy to get around. The house was warm even though it was sub-zero outside. Kitchen was well furnished and comfy bed. The big glass windows was what we loved best. You can just sit by it to check if there's auora, and the auora alerts were really prompt!
The only thing we thought could be better was the consistency of hot water during shower, but nevertheless, we enjoyed ourselves throughly during our 3nights stay.
