The staff are just lovely. They all seemed friendly in a natural way and gave the impression they were happy, which made us, as guests, happy. We ate in the hotel one night and there was a little confusion over which menu we were ordering from, as we werent sitting in the main restaurant, but we ordered from the Bar/Brasserie menu. The food really exceeded our expectations. We werent expecting much, but everything was really fresh and tasty and we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms are basic but comfortable and we had a nice view out to mature trees from our room. We also appreciated the drinks vouchers we got when we chose not to get our room made up.
The hotel was cold. The rooms, the halls, the bar.... all cold! The bar closed in the evening bang on time, but with no warning for us to get a drink. The main entrance by the road could do with some lighting if you are walking in the dark as its quite hard to see where you are stepping.

I previously stayed at another hotel in Tunbridge Wells for similar pricing and Mercure definitely came on top. I liked the included parking and wifi, the room well equipped with tea, coffee and toiletries, the comfortable bed with very clean bedsheets, and the fact that it was very quiet. It`s not close to town center, but not difficult to reach it either. They know how to welcome their guests and you will notice that as soon as you get there. I even signed up for membership, I have a feeling I`ll stay with them in the future. :)
I personally would like a fridge for drinks in the room, or a way to be able to have cold drinks in the room. Not exactly somenthing to be labeled as not liked, but it will be nice to have.

A three night stay in a very comfortable, and fairly quiet, room in a good location. The room and public areas were clean and tidy; the room was serviced daily. We received complimentary chocolate and food discount vouchers: we didn't use the latter as we were dining out. We can't therefore comment on quality of food. The receptionist was friendly and welcoming. We'd taken out Accor membership (free) to avoid car parking fees, but were also offered this possibility on site.
It was all pretty good. The bathroom tiles could do with re-grouting, and clearer explanation on the website about the parking arrangements would be helpful: in one place it said explicitly that parking was complimentary; elsewhere it mentioned a charge (£10 per day).

We liked that the rooms allocated were accessible for our needs. They were clean and the beds were comfortable. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Reception were attentive in allocating a much more suitable room when they learned a guest had been in surgery, and placed us on the ground floor. Much appreciated. Some of the building is older, but it looks well maintained. The rooms we stayed in and communal areas are modern and well equipped. The hotel is within a few minutes of the hospital and an excellent choice if you need to stay somewhere close by. All staff encountered were really lovely.
The menu and particularly room service did not offer a great deal of choice, especially as one of us was a vegetarian and the other dairy free. A vegan might not have much option. Breakfast was adequately priced if booked in advance, but overpriced if not. The cooked options looked very dry, especially the bacon/mushrooms, and there were no good cooked options for veggie/vegan guests. Plenty of choice if you want continental options but that would end up being quite an expensive breakfast.

Free parking. V friendly and efficient reception staff. Quick check in. Comfortable bed. Of Tunbridge Wells Booking.com listed accommodation we have stayed in I rated it considerably better than the Travelodge, a big improvement on Salomons Estate, v slightly better than the Premier Inn, not as nice as the Spa Hotel.
Still ok, but starting to show signs of age. No usb outlets in room. Car park needed more illumination. Could hear every movement from occupier of room above ours.

Great location. Big shame there are still pictures of a swimming pool in the hotel which is closed. These come up frequently on google which is confusing. However bedrooms are very comfortable( we had 2 as a family group). Restaurant staff are great and food is very nice and reasonably priced for the area. Holly, Tim and Ernest the servers who were there when we were there were really great , quick and professional. Overall fine for what we needed.
Bathrooms need a spruce up as looking a bit shabby in some regards . Reception staff seem overworked but it was a bank holiday and very busy. Parking is very confusing to work out. Please make sure you read the notices in car park and check with reception if you have to pay or not as it’s very unclear.

Room was comfortable and clean, we were pleased to get a studio, but don't know the difference between this and a room. Meals were good value for money and good quality, the 2 free drinks were a very nice surprise. What made the visit so good was undoubtedly the staff, the best we've come across after visiting many hotels.
The room was too warm and airless, although I did not realise until too late that there was a fan available. There were no apparent signs to show where the entrance/reception was situated and it was not clear just looking at the hotel, we went in the wrong direction at first, then took a chance on what to us looked more like a side entrance.

The receptionist ( Layla ?) was very welcoming as were the staff generally .Because of our ages I had requested a walk in share and our request was granted The room was very comfortable. We had an enjoyable breakfast and particularly liked the fact that we could order freshly cooked poached eggs.
The dinner menu had a Macdonalds/KFC feel about. Probably ok for a quick meal but not what we were expecting. Although if we are needing a hotel in the area again, we would book the hotel but dine out

The bed was soooooo comfortable!! The bedding and pillows were lovely. The room was lovely and dark and quiet, we had a room near reception and we slept in until 9am! Great location. Free parking! Great room size, nice and roomy. Not all cramped. Great facilities nothing was run down, kettle, tea, coffee and coffee machine. Lovely hot shower in the morning. Heated towel rail a nice treat. Bathroom was spotless.
If I’m being super picky- and I am pretty fussy: The shower curtain touches you during the shower. The bathroom mirror is not heated. No green or chamomile tea bags.

Very friendly and helpful staff Clean and tidy room Great location Nice breakfast and lovely evening meals in the restaurant I feel the reviews this hotel has been given are a little harsh. My partner and I had a very pleasant stay.
A couple of minor things. Bathroom a little tired - the bath has probably seen better days but it was all very clean. Creaky floorboards and poor signal on TV. A little noise from people walking past the room. Please don’t get me wrong though, these were minor things and didn’t spoil our stay.
