I travelled here with my husband as I was one of the cast for the murder mystery and had planned to stay overnight as we had an onward event in Nottingham the following evening. The staff were fabulous and friendly , very informative. The building is historical and could do with a little TLC but this does not spoil the feel of the place. We loved the history behind it and how well laid out everything is for such an old building. Plenty of parking and lovely grounds and walks to be had. We didn't stay for breakfast so couldn't comment but the evening meal was lovely.

Excellent service and pleasantly surprised we got an upgraded room on arrival as it was our wedding anniversary. Excellent choice of breakfast which was plentiful and cooked to perfection. Very good value for money. Lovely quiet setting within easy reach of Nottinghams attractions. Declan in particular was very friendly and took pride in his role at the hotel. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable with good facilities. Lovely building.

Only recommendation I would make would be remedial attention to detail outside.. cobwebs on windows when looking outside and weeding around the terraced garden and paths. Nothing a coat of paint wouldn't fix in some places.

Beautiful historic building, staff were exceptional. Friendly, helpful. Food very good. Grounds very nice & country park location. Comfy bed. Bar area, gallery & lounge so historic & attractive.

The bedroom, Alexandra room, was tired, bland, bare walls. Worn, grubby carpet, worn out scratched dressing table. We got the feeling that this place is struggling a bit, needs money spending throughout. Many window frames are rotten around the building & weeds, etc in gardens. Sad, really hope someone can invest in it.

Location was beautiful. Hotel is a stunning old building. Bar area was lovely and cosy,with the real fire burning.

My room was exceptionally cold. Heating didn't seem to be working. It was the first week of December when I visited, so was a pretty cold time of year. There was also a large amount of ladybirds around the window of the room,and crawling on the carpet. Surprisingly as it was December. Also,thought my stay was quite expensive,considering it was room only,in which the heating didnt work. Would of been well priced if breakfast was included and a heater.

All the staff were attentive, welcoming, and very approachable. Went to extra lengths to accommodate my requests from my arrival to leaving. The room was clean, fabulous, and not too warm. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was beautifully cooked, especially the scrambled eggs. The bathroom was perfect, with plenty of shampoo and shower gel. There is plenty of garden and land to wonder through. I enjoyed reading the book about the history of the local area.

It would have been nice to have Netflix available, and there was no telephone to contact the reception desk if needed. It would be great if the Lodge could have a few copies of the book to sell to visitors should they request it. It was a shame that the arden terrace was closed.

Everyone who served me were lovely and super helpful, the bar area was stunning and the bed was super comfortable. We didn't eat here at any point so can't comment on the quality or value but judging by the food I saw other having it looked good.

The shower was terrible, barely any pressure and took ages to heat up. The room in general could have done with some updating (double glazing etc) but it didn't really bother us and we were still warm despite the single glazed window.

Beautiful location and lodge to visit after we were married there 30 years ago! On arrival we were upgraded to the Victoria room (bridal suite) with no extra cost when we told them we were married there, which was a lovely gesture. The room was lovely and spacious if I had to be critical.. could do with a little updating. However it was a very comfortable bed and very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially Linda who made us so welcome!

The breakfast wasn’t very tasty especially the sausages( coffee cold) and didn’t really warrant the price.

Booked for one night after taking son to university , wasn't too fussed about location as only one night . Was absolutley stunned when arrived . Exactly what we would have chosen if really looking . Full of character . Good value , lovely food , lovely staff . Will absolutley return when visiting my son . Thank you Bestwood .

Could have done with a rubber shower mat in bath as my my wife has slightly limited mobility , but not a real problem .

The staff were wonderful! Engaging, helpful and professional, throughout. The location is brilliant too, right on the edge of a lovely country park and not far from a town with lovely cafes. The lodge itself is also aesthetically pleasing. Free parking on-site was also very welcome.

The facilities are quite spartan and really dated. The nooks and crannies were also really in need of cleaning. There's also no climate control in the rooms.

I liked the size of the original room as it provided a king size bed and a sofa. I also liked the bar and the seating area. Every room had a scenic view and the hotel was located in a quiet area.

In the original room I was booked, there was noise caused by the plumbing which my girlfriend and I first assumed it was someone showering upstairs. However, the staff went the extra mile to find us an alternative room to ensure we had a peaceful night.
