Everything exceeded our expectations at Akachichi Guest House. Kenny and Komaki put so much thought into everything to help us feel at home and get a real flavour of beautiful Okinawa; from the books in the room, to the recommendations they had put together and the sweet Okinawan teas in the fridge. Nestled in a quiet little side street, Akachichi is within walking distance of many beaches Okinawa has to offer, and it has serene and peaceful surroundings. The room is so comfortable, clean and spacious - it felt like a home away from home. Kenny and Komaki were such warm and generous hosts who went above and beyond in every way. Nothing was too much for them and we felt so looked after. It made my morning to see Komaki bring us fresh, healthy and stunning breakfasts on the terrace each day (and on Sunday, a gorgeous packed-up food we took down to the beach). This is not just another place to stay - unlike a big hotel with a functional check-in and soul-less buffet, Akachichi Guesthouse really helps you immerse into the culture, meet some wonderful people and leave your troubles at the doorstep. We travelled the whole of Japan for 3 weeks and this was the most memorable and inspiring stay that we will cherish forever. We are so motivated to learn about Okinawa even more after this. It is so nice to have your own place with everything you need. An excellent place with the kindest hosts you can wish. Kenny picked us at the busstop with his car. He showed us around in the vollage and all the points of interest. Restaurants, beaches the shop! Also good tips for diving, snorkling and daytrips. Komaki and Kenny made us the best breakfast! Each morning an different but o so tasteful "Okinawa" breakfast! Diet wishes were not a problem. Best breakfast on our holiday. The room is big and everything you need is available. Akachichi guesthouse is highly recommended by us!

A very clean, comfortable, quiet accommodation with a local vibe. Hosts were lovely people. They served a beautiful Japanese style breakfast (with a Okinawan twist!) each morning, including a great cup of coffee. Wide range of restaurants and a few grocery stores within walking distance. Several secluded beaches that are fantastic for snorkeling, swimming and tide pooling are within walking distance. Walk to the bus route to Naha/ Kadena area and north island. Taxi coverage in the area. A perfect place for our 5 night stay.

A small guesthouse with a homey vibe and a lot of love for details. Every morning we got a great breakfast set served on the terrace in a beautiful green garden. The room was quiet, clean, spacious with 2 beds, a small table, 2 comfy chairs and a hanger for clothes. They offer daily roomservice. Kenny and Komaki are very friendly and helpful hosts and gave us great recommendations. It is located near cape maeda. There is a brilliant plant-based restaurant in 3 min walking distance, an Italian place and another café. In about 7min walking distance is the cape for snorkeling or diving and 4 small beautiful beaches.

First things first: Kenny and Komaki are some of the nicest, kindest hosts I have ever had the pleasure of staying with! They were super welcoming and helpful from the moment we booked and throughout our stay -- which we highly appreciated, given we were not the most prepared of travelers. Secondly, the breakfast was 10/10 delicious, and we looked forward to it every day. The room is cozy and comfortable, with a nice garden to relax in. Location-wise, we were very close (walking distance!) to beaches and snorkeling hotspots like Cape Maeda!

Nothing! But I would recommend travelers to consult a map of Okinawa before booking, as it is a big island with somewhat inaccessible public transportation option. Getting to and from locations without a car can be challenging.

We spent 5 days at the Akachichi Guesthouse. The guesthouse is located about 50 minutes by car from Naha airport in a northerly direction. The location is excellent and offers plenty of relaxation and nature. There are several beaches, restaurants and other activities nearby. Kenny and Komaki are two wonderful hosts who also give you good tips along the way and are always ready to help. The breakfast is world class and made from local ingredients. We recommend a rental car to explore the island. The rooms are large, comfortable and modest by Japanese standards. That's how it should be! Nothing is missing in this accommodation. We really enjoyed our stay and wish Kenny and his family all the best for the future!

The Apartment is so gorgeous. Spacious and with a beautiful garden. It was very clean and had insect netting everywhere which was really helpful, so that we could leave the windows open all day and all night long. The fan seemed to be just a little detail but was our most important thing in the apartment that guaranteed us a great sleep. Also the beds were comfortable and the pillows great. A second bedside table could've been useful actually. We loved the breakfast which changed every morning. Lovely components we really enjoyed, with eggs from their own farm. Also we got a cute breakfast to go bag when we left. It was really quiet and you can reach the beach by a short walk. The hosts were attentive and cared a lot, thank you so much for everything! I highly recommend this accommodation. Parking is available right in front of the house. Body wash, shampoo and conditioner were provided. Also! Which is an amazing plus: There is a great vegan restaurant 3 min walk from the apartment called Gajimaru, open from 11am-11pm. Make sure not to miss it.

No I’m completely obsessed. Everything perfect, the owners are so ridiculously nice. It’s so cozy and lovely. It rained most of the time we were there and it was still amazing. Like let this be the one place you stay on the big island. Perfect location for beach/snorkeling access. Breakfast on terrace is so peaceful and lovely. We basically planned our Okinawa trip around this stay and it was an amazing decision.

Absolutely nothing favorite place I’ve ever stayed

If you would like to avoid the big resorts and concrete hotel blocks and are longing for a cozy accommodation with family atmosphere don't look further. Kenny and Komaki definitely will make you want to stay forever. Their breakfast was amazing and they answered every question into detail. We were able to feel that they enjoy what they are doing and are in love with Okinawa. We did not have a car and arrived by local bus. For the short time we stayed we did not need a car because we had everything we needed in the town. But Kenny was so kind to drop us off in a city near by so we were able to eat in one of their recommended restaurant. Lastly the room was cozy and had lots of space for the two of us. The small terrace was perfect to enjoy the breakfast every morning. Staying at Akachichi Guesthouse again would already be a reason to come back to Okinawa.

I liked the cute and comfortable interior from the entrance, the cleanliness of the bathroom and bed was very good, and especially the water pressure of the shower was strong, so I was very satisfied. Lastly, the Okinawa home-style breakfast service was so good at this price point. It is such a satisfactory accommodation that I don't want to recommend it to anyone else (in case it will be difficult to make a reservation)
