Beautiful, historical hotel preserved as if in aspic in 1888 with magnificent antique furniture and fittings. Like staying in the 19th century. The lady at reception was lovely and could not have been kinder or more friendly or helpful. We had a superb meal in Tavern 1888 as a great surprise bonus. Real gourmet food.

Beautiful hotel in a lovely physical location near the water but there were a lot of crazed, ranting addicts on the streets in the immediate area. I felt sorry for the and they didn't bother us but they created an air of menace in the area so we didn't venture out on the night of our one night stay. We just stayed in the beautiful hotel and enjoyed our great meal.

This hotel truly is one of a kind! Sure, a little dated here and there but that is to be expected. After all, this is a historic property. The front desk and maintenance staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We stayed in the King Suite (3rd floor) and loved it. Location is perfect. Right by the Marina (book the harbor cruise!) and the charming DT area. We also had dinner at the in-house restaurant (Tavern) and can only recommend it.

Unfortunately, we did not have a chance to check out the breakfast options as it is not available until 8am.

This is a gorgeous building. It somehow seems simultaneously steeped in history while being restored, clean, and comfortable. There are good restaurants nearby.

We liked this, but maybe not everyone will. We arrived late to find our key on the front desk, it was very easy to get in and do the pickup. We were trying to be quiet and missed the fact that there is an elevator and instead spent a solid 5 minutes trying to get to the fourth floor. The staircases don't connect, and you end up with a tour of the lovely building. So, the elevator is literally right there, use that if you want. But I'd recommend the stairwell adventure!

Location was near the water and we could enjoy the sunset. Appreciated the staff exchanging messages with me when I inquired about elevator and location of the room, as my husband has knee contraints. We were given a room without "steps". The lobby/breakfast area was very pleasant.

Wish the hotel's restaurants were open ... we dined at an okay/fair restaurant that was nearby, but we chose to do this as we were tired from our long drive

Victoria at the front desk was lovely and welcoming. She gave us a little history and background on the hotel. We had room 45 with a view and king bed. Everything was clean and comfortable. The surrounding area was kind of sketchy but the hotel itself was worth it. Super cool antique furniture and vintage vibes.

Surrounding area, the shower had trouble draining but comes with an old building

This hotel has all sorts of incredible charm. The building is spectacular, and the rooms are individually decorated and unique. Super tall ceilings, and tons of interesting art to explore. The furniture was beautiful and each floor had a lounge room with even more beautiful decor. Our room had a very deep and beautiful red bathtub. The staff was amazingly helpful and friendly and the location is central to all the activities you could want. We loved pulling up to see the pride flag waving above the building!

We would definitely stay again, but these notes might be helpful to future guests. The hotel is in a historic building without modern ventilation. Our room had a cute fireplace heater and windows that opened. There were a couple of outlets in the room but not enough for all our tech. The power strip on the nightstand was helpful, but we still relied on portable batteries to charge our devices. The curtains do not block out the sun which meant no sleeping in.

Beautiful Victorian hotel restored by Eric Hollenbeck of Blue Ox Millworks. Updated facility with 2 eateries/lounge options. We got lucky and arrived on Tuesday when yoga then dance groups meet and greet. Fantastic music venue enjoyed with the locals for the 13th annual Bob Dylan’s Birthday Bash. Classy covers with food/drinks served by Phatsy Klein’s lounge staff. Families welcomed and dancing encouraged. What a treat! We relaxed in our well-appointed room with bay and city views. Comfy bed with quality linens. Beautiful antiques, electric fireplace and great smelling toiletries…and our room was immaculately clean. Freshly baked pasties with hot coffee, yogurt and fruit available in the lobby.Just a lovely stay!!!

We had a great room with a great view. Parking was good, but sometimes difficult on the weekend. Hotel is beautiful with a lot of character. Room was well furnished and fits the time of the hotel. Reception was always very friendly and helpful. A light breakfast was an unexpected bonus.

No refrigerator and no micro wave in room. No convenient ice machine. Staff did provide ice upon request.

This was a great little surprising find. We loved the heritage of the establishment. The family has done an amazing job with the hotel. Everything was as expected. You'll find this wonderful gem a great addition to your trip. Be sure to check out Tavern 1888. We had amazing service from Mr. B & Bailey. Our drinks were bang on and our desserts very scrumptious. We didn't actually indulge in dinner but what we viewed looked perfectly delicious. Every server was incredibly happy to be there. It was very much appreciated to be in such a welcoming atmosphere. Although higher prices than In-N-Out much better offerings. Worth every penny!!!

Although not in the best part of town you can feel very safe. Don't be put off when pulling in, the city is definitely building up this area. We were sorry we only stayed one night and will definitely be back for longer next time.

We loved the history and making preservation a priority of the old hotel. Our rooms were spacious and we used a couple of the common rooms to play cards at night. Parking was free and easy. Some of the furniture was truly lovely. Nice light breakfast in the mornings. The staff was very accommodating!

Unfortunately the location is right on the edge of a grittier area and our room was on the street overlooking this. Could have used a curtain on the window between the room and a little hallway to lessen the light in the AM and the hot sun in the afternoon.
