The guesthouse is an interesting mix between western 'rural hotel' and japanese trimmings. It has a shoes-off policy (slippers provided at the entry-hall), and it has a furo (hot bath) that's available 24/7. The beds/rooms are western-style. The breakfast was wonderful (non-buffet, a platter provided with all kinds of things, western-style) and despite us having been the only guests for at least one of the days, the staff was always super-responsive and available whenever we needed to ask a question. The location has ample parking-space. On a good day, you may even get a glimpse of Fuji in the far distance from infront of the guesthouse. Great place to plan hikes/walks/treks in the surrounding mountain-areas and/or Aogakihara forest close to Fuji

The only 'downside' I could think of is that it is NOT close to anything wrt. walking-distance. A car is required to take care of getting anywhere; although there are likely some good hiking-trips that can be started from the guesthouse itself. Getting there, however, would require a taxi/car anyway.

Friendly, very helpful, nice couple. Comfortable rooms, very clean bathrooms and toilets. Delicious and well presented food (book in advance). View on Fuji mountain in front!

More points to be noted than actually dislike. Better to have a car to come here and move around. No private bathroom I think, but we did not have issue (hotel was not full). A friend came to pick us up, but was not allowed inside the building (only guests, maybe that is ok for Japanese standards, but this is rude for western standards. It made me embarrassed.

The guesthouse is very cosy and comfortable. The host was friendly & patient with our request and despite the struggle with the language barrier she was able to communicate and even strike up a conversation about our common interests. The food is off the chart amazing! Fresh local produce were used , they even cured their own bacon! Simple but scrumptious!!! Delicious!

Was a bit disappointed that the skies were cloudy hence no chance to experience the starry night skies - but it’s not within the control of anyone 🥲

Everything, the old Style of the Guest House is very beautiful, as the just in front landscape of the Japanese Alps very unique and relaxing !!! Also the Homemade Dinner was of high quality and so tasty … we loved the very good communication and kindness of Saori and her Husband! We will come back asap ! C&H.

Leaf was a great experience. It is located at the top of a hill overlooking the mountain range. It has a big, beautiful balcony with a big open front area. Saori was very welcoming and accommodating and did her best to speak as much English as she could. We'd definitely stay here again.

I would have liked a few extra pillows, but I forgot to ask so this was my fault.

Wonderful little guesthouse in the countryside, very nice staff and excellent breakfast. The onsen in the shower room was a good plus!

Very clean, simple designed room, comfy blankets, free water/hot water(you can make tea or coffee) and one of beautiful & typical scenery of Kiyosato. We were lucky that all the guests were polite and quiet at night. We enjoyed breakfast outside and talking with lovely owner.

Staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great. I also liked the onsen-like private bathroom.

The mattresses was a bit hard, and you can hear noise from the hall and other rooms.

We had a perfect view on the Fuji Mount, the air was fresh and the food was good!

It was a little bit difficult to sleep in the morning because of the lights coming from the window and the door, and the noise of everyone waking up.

The place was cozy. The reception was great as well. We booked the hotel with travel coupons so it was quite affordable. The booking came with a half board. I was expecting a plain meal but when we had it, it was exceptional. It was a five-star experience. We had a lovely stay.

The rooms were quite dusty.
