The room was spacious, comfortable and carefully decorated - clearly a lot of thought had been put into how to make it comfortable as well as interesting. Everything worked well - the water was hot and plentiful, and there was plenty of storage in the room. There was a wide variety of foods on offer for breakfast and the evening meal was also very good (great pichet of rose for a very reasonable price). Engueran and Margaux were absolutely delightful hosts, who made us feel very welcome.

Given the location, the internet is slow, so if you want to check emails, you will probably need to go into Cauterets. Obviously this is absolutely not the fault of the hosts, so not a reflection of how they're running the business.

We were welcomed by the wonderful hosts, Margaux and Engueran, a couple who own and run the lovely and secluded resort several minutes’ drive from Pierrefitte-Nestalas. Their warm-hearted welcome and efforts to pleasant our stay have made this to be one of the best accommodations we have ever experienced. We especially enjoyed and highly recommend the dinner the hosts prepare for their guests (for an additional and reasonable price). Both dinners we had at Les Ruisseaux were made from local produce and were served with local cheese and wine. Also, an excellent chance to converse with other guests, as the dinner was served on a shared table. Do consult with the hosts on your travel plans, as they gave us some good tips and recommendations.

As the resort is located outside the city, please note that a car is mandatory for transportation to and from the resort. There is no cellular reception at the resort, and the local wifi was rather slow. This did not decrease from our total enjoyment of our stay at Les Ruisseaux, but perhaps would be bothersome for those who rely on fast internet during their stay.

Everything! It’s homely but also makes the guest feel spoilt, with its high standard of finish (small details like light switches, wood panelling) and unique furnishings (eg a brach for a clothes rail, old wooden skis for a shelving unit), a real product of a labour of love by the owner (a self-taught carpenter). Plus the communal dining is special and the food of a high standard.

The WiFi signal ad well as no phone signal (nice to be off grid for a few days) but I needed to download cycle routes. Not major problem, solved by popping into Cauterers (10mins drive)

Staying at the charming country house near Cauterets, owned by a delightful young couple with two young kids, was an experience to cherish. Despite our last-minute reservation, the welcome we received was unparalleled, showcasing the warmth and kindness of Margaux and Engueran. The dinner, a highlight of our stay, featured locally-sourced high-quality ingredients, cooked to perfection, bringing the authentic flavors of the region to our table. The meal was not just delicious but also a testament to the culinary skills of our hosts. Come morning, we were greeted with a sumptuous breakfast spread. The variety was impressive, with a perfect balance of sweet and savory items, catering to all tastes. The overall ambiance of the house, coupled with the hospitable nature of our hosts, made our stay in the French Pyrenees a memorable and heartwarming experience. This country house is a hidden gem, and we left with memories we'll always treasure.

Comfortable room , spotlessly clean and well equipped. Really warm welcome by the friendly owners, who were helpful in advising where to visit (in English). Excellent breakfast - so much choice and an impressive array of jams! Parking is available. Just a few miles out of Cauterets where there are supermarkets and restaurants. We spent a brilliant day taking the ski lift and then walking on the hill tops.

Our room ( perfectly comfortable and spotless ) was on the top floor with fairly narrow and steep stairs - I suggest those who have limited mobility should request a room on the first floor. Owners offered to carry luggage up for us.

It was unique property in the Pyrenees , just the sound of the river running near by was tranquil from our bedroom window. Our room was very spacious and very clean. We were greeted with a friendly welcome. The bed was really comfortable and it was the best night sleep I had had all week. Breakfast was tremendous, a wide choice of things to have and all fresh,. I would certainly recommend this place as there is nothing not to like.

This is a delightful Chambre d'hote renovated and run by a lovely young couple. We had a beautiful room with a fab bathroom including a bath-tub for a soak after a mountain hike. Perfect. We opted for the shared evening meal sitting round a long table with other guests from France, Holland, USA, getting to know each other, sharing stories of places to visit, and enjoying the good food provided by our host. The breakfast was simple continental style.

I have coeliac disease and cannot eat gluten. Whilst care was taken with the evening meal preparation for myself, some gluten free breakfast options would have been nice, maybe fruit salad, yogurt and baked products. The local cheese was very good.

Once or twice in your travels you come across one place that is just so perfect and wonderful that a score of 10 has little meaning. Les Ruisseaux is one such place, perfectly placed for the major walks in the western French Pyrenees the hosts couldn’t have been more friendly, the room beautiful, breakfast and dinner outstanding. And the location sublime.

Just perfect

Peaceful, friendly, historic, comfortable, well decorated and a great base for our first visit to the Pyrenees. Oh, and while excellent breakfasts are included, make sure you book dinner at the property. The food was wonderful. Highly recommended. We went as a couple but nice to see it was very family oriented. Excellent source of local travel advice, too!

Margaux & Engueran were simply the best hosts we have ever had! Les Ruisseaux was beautiful, charming and perfectly located for all the hikes we wanted to do in the area. Margaux & Engueran were incredibly kind and thoughtful throughout our stay, making sure we had everything we needed, including a super tasty dinner that we highly recommend!
