The hotel exceeded expectation. Room was large and clean with sufficient space for storage of golf clubs. En Suite had large walk-in shower and was perfect to get everything dried after a soaking on the links. As the hotel only has 4 rooms, the staff were able to provide a level of service that you would not get at a larger chain. The food served in the restaurant was excellent, both breakfast and dinner. The restaurant can get busy at times with locals. We had dinner all 5 nights of our stay and did not exhaust our choice of options.

There is no car park attached to the hotel, but there is a free public car park at the rear. We managed to park on the road at the front of the hotel every day. The hotel is on the main road and can be noisy with the window open. Hot water in the shower was not instant and needed a fine adjustment to get the correct temperature when is did come through.

The room was clean and comfortable, I asked for a room with a bath and my room was switched right away with no fuss to allow this. All the staff were cheerful, friendly and knowledgeable and although staying and eating alone, I think especially for a woman, can be an awkward experience this was made easier and more comfortable because the staff were so kind and welcoming. The food was also absolutely delicious, I had dinner on both nights and it was simply stunning. All over, a very comfortable and enjoyable stay, thanks to all the staff at The Fariburn.

Nothing.

Such a wonderful little hotel, great access to all Mauchline offers (not much but enough!), everything was tidy and well decorated. The staff were all wonderful and very accommodating for all the little bits asked. In terms of dining, the amount of gluten free food on offer for all meal times was absolutely brilliant.

My only niggle was the amount of traffic noise through the night when staying in one of the rooms at the front face of the hotel, not the quiet road it looked like it could be! However, the hotel is clearly aware of this and very kindly had foam earplugs as one of the complimentary items offered in the room, not much else to be done from their end. Just make sure to have some noise cancellers if you're a light sleeper. 👍

Staff were very friendly, helpful and were always on hand. The room was clean and comfortable and a reasonable size. I had a steak for dinner that was cooked perfectly and reasonably priced. The two girls did a fantastic job running the bar and restaurant as well as attending to all other guest's requests. Their friendliness and attention was exceptional. Breakfast was very good and everything was reasonably priced . I had a great stay there

The hotel is situated right on a main road so there was a bit of traffic noise but this didn't impact the stay at all. By lights out time the road was quiet and I slept very well with no disturbance

The staff were really friendly and helpful; definitely the best thing about this hotel. The decor was a good mix of contemporary and country, and everywhere was clean. A good breakfast at a reasonable price. Plenty of parking available.

The main problem was the noise in the bedroom - there is zero sound proofing, so I could hear every slight noise from neighbouring bedrooms, the corridor, and the road. From other reviews, I was aware this could be a problem, and made sure there was no planned music in the bar, as I expect that would have been unbearable. Minor feedbacks would also be the very unpleasant smell in the stairwell. The bathroom also had a drain smell. Whilst the evening meal was nice, I thought it was little too expensive for what it was.

We were staying overnight due to a family wedding. Staff very welcoming and accommodating, couldn’t do enough for you. A very professional service. The room was lovely and clean, bed was very comfortable I slept like a baby. Tea and coffee, toiletries, a “make up face towel” and spa style slippers! Breakfast was fresh, tasted perfectly fine we had the Scottish breakfast. Lovely bar area, everything was just super chilled to be honest. We were also staying at the same time as one of my cousins whose room was next door and we both said we will use this as a base when visiting family for sure. The price is very reasonable, lovely touch having a name to each room. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We had a family room at the Fairburn which was a really good size with decent beds. We'd had a similar room request at a more recognised hotel chain the night before which was nowhere near as comfortable. Natalie & Sharon were really attentive getting us checked in, we ran late checking in and received calls to confirm we were still staying. The room was nice, beds were comfortable, overall everything exceeded expectation. There was a shower in the bath which was perfect for us but appreciate might not suit everyone. Supply of towels, soaps and gels were plentiful and replenished daily. Breakfasts were really generous, tasty and well presented. We didn't get a chance to use the restaurant but we did visit the bar which was relaxed and well stocked. Every interaction with staff was a pleasant experience with happy smiley faces all around, a really welcoming team.

Nothing, we went with no preconceived ideas or expectations and so were really pleasantly surprised when comparing with other hotels used on our trip.

The room was both large, airy and absolutely spotless, the beds were large, inviting, clean and comfortable I didn't want to leave it either day we were there, There were 3 fans in our bedroom to cool the room if we needed it and an ironing board and iron for our use. There was a hairdryer In the drawer as well as a kettle, mugs, with both coffee and tea making facilities sugar milk and biscuits. We also had a large television to enable us to watch whatever programmes we wanted The bathroom was as spotless as the bedroom, it had a shower over the bath with a shower curtain, all different sized towels, clean fresh and soft. The staff made us feel special all of the time, they were all super friendly, chatty helpful and always went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed or could imagine needing. The Manageress was so pleasant, helpful happy and easy going. Nothing was too much trouble for her she made us so very welcome even though we were there by 11am, she went above and beyond without a second thought and was there helping us with anything and in every way possible, even down to offering all the help we would need to sort our taxis out for the following day's wedding. Compliments to the chef we ate in the hotel Friday evening and the meal was superb, we all had different main courses but each one was large beautifully prepared, absolutely gorgeous to look at and so delicious to eat. The desserts were all of large portions, they looked smelt and tasted absolutely fantastic and with every bite they would melt in your mouth The whole meal left me wishing it would never end and wondering exactly how or if their breakfast could compare Saturday mirni g and once again a big round of applause and congratulations to the chef.

What a lovely little room we had, and all the little touches such as make-up cloth, bottle of water, heat protector for straighteners. Ear plugs. It was such a lovely place. It was decorated so lovely and we had a really lovely bathroom suite. The restaurant is amazing and beautifully decorated.

The only thing that wasn't so great was the traffic which the hotel can't help. I'm a light sleeper and we stay in the countryside so the traffic was noisy for me.

What a gem. The staff were very friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. The hotel was attractively decorated and had a lovely beer garden. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order using locally sourced ingredients. The Ayrshire bacon delicious. Evening meals were also cooked to a very high standard.

The road outside was quite busy and there was a bit of traffic noise but this was to be expected.
