This is a lovely guesthouse, very well run and super clean. Our room was very spacious with lots of storage and facilities for making hot drinks. It didn't have a window but this didn't bother us at all. The bed was super comfortable and the bathroom was small but well planned. The location was quiet and only a 10 minute walk into town and little india etc. we thought it was really good value for money.

No fridge in room but we were able to use the hotels fridge.

Friendly and helpful staff, centrally located, clean. I saw many comments saying there was no kettle in the room but our deluxe room had it. Our room had a window but I think that costs more. Room was clean with comfy beds. Close to all sights, street art locations, museums, restaurants and cafes. In front of the hotel there is one k mart express and around the corner a laundromat. I also liked that outside the hotel there are two benches with a big ashtray for smoking and the area is roofed so if it rains you won't get wet

Price on booking com is higher than buying at reception(25 MYR more) and they charged me on top of that an extra fee of total 118 MYR on 4 nights calling it a commission agent fee. When I added one extra night as I had to stay longer I was charged only the room rate without any extras so I guess all these extras were charged because I had used booking com

Very comfortable and friendly small guesthouse on the edge of the old town. Not the most salubrious location, but pretty quiet. Beds were comfortable, shower and plumbing all worked as it should, very clean. It did exactly what it needed to.

The interesting view over and from the filling station forecourt when you threw open the curtains was the only questionable aspect. Door locks could do with a bit of attention. Like almost all bedrooms it would have been hugely more convenient if it had either a bedside light or the main room lights could be switched from the bedside. It's only a little thing, but makes a big difference.

All staff are friendly and helpful. I asked to change my room and it was no problem. Clean rooms with air conditioners. New renovated interior, new furniture. Excellent Wi-fi. Good location in the center of George Town.

It could be noisy at night because of traffic. A gas station located next to the guesthouse. They have technical service at 6 am. Loud sounds outside might be annoying and it will be an unpleasant surprise for you. Even inner rooms without windows are noisy. There is no sound isolation between rooms, you will hear everything that your neighbours do. Bathrooms are extremely small. There are no fridges and no wardrobes inside rooms.

My first time came to penang and luckily got really good deal to stay in Island Guesthouse. The location is close to all restaurants, so it's easier for me to find the foods anytime by walking. The room was clean, AC worked well, you got shampoo, shower gel, towels and slippers. They also have sharing iron where you can find it on the 1st floor. Auntie is very friendly and the price is also affordable. I would love to stay here again next time.

The bathroom is pretty small but that's not a big deal. I am still happy with other facilities.

The placing for iron board on the level 1 hotel was a bit weird & not reasonable since it was in front of a room. Feels like someone was watching from that room.

The location is ideal for reaching all the attractions and food spots. The room was spotlessly clean with a nice hot shower room. The staff were friendly, there was good free wifi and the room was an excellent price and just what we needed.

Minor issues - the staff couldn’t explain to me why they take a cash deposit and on what grounds it wouldn’t be given back. There was noise coming from the hallway and drains in the room. There was cups and saucers provided in the room but no kettle to make use of them

The room is very clean. And the staffs are really nice. The decoration in the hotel is supper nice, I think you can take picture at anywhere, the stair, the doors or the chairs... I forgot the phone at receptionist table and he brought the phone to my room immediately before I was realized that. There is no lift. But it's ok because I saw only 1 floor there. Our luggage is not so much heavy for us to carry by going up stair so it's ok. I think can ask the staff for helping bringing luggages to go up stair.

The location. Walking distance to most tourist attractions. Lots of food stalls nearby. Very convenient without a car. Room was basic but clean. We got the room with window. This was very important for my family.

Staff could be a bit more friendlier. When we arrived, room was not ready although it was passed check in time. Had to wait 30 minutes as there was lack of manpower.

Strategic Location and reasonable price. It was within walking distances to a lot of places that we wanted to go. The room was clean and comfortable.

The size of the bathroom was a bit too small. There was no lift at the facility. Thankfully, we did not have heavy baggage. Also, there is no fridge in the room. However, there is a common fridge at the back of the lodge.
