This place is magical…Marta and Julio have created a gorgeous and tranquil place off the beaten path in the algarve. Their attention to detail, exceptional breakfast and kind and solicitous but unobtrusive hospitality made our stay very special. I think this is a place for a certain kind of traveller who wants peace, quiet and immersion in nature over being in a city. It is in the woods and you need a car. Alijezur is a five minute drive and it has decent restos, groceries etc. Coming from a big city, this place was the nature detox I needed! Wonderful!

The hill to the resort is steep; might be a bit freaky for people who are not used to driving in a situation like that. The pool could have been warmer.

Beautiful place set off the main road within spitting distance of all the beauty around Aljezur. Removed enough to be peaceful and unwind but close enough to everything should you need a hit. Beautiful room and reserved service meant it felt like we were staying in a private location. Felt like waking up in a rainforest every morning! They were also very kind for Angie on her birthday searching out candles for her morning cake 🎂 😁

Really nothing. A warmer pool would have been nice maybe but we were almost into December so what were we expecting?!

First, Marta and Julio are super kind and joyful hosts. Second, they have very cute dogs. Then, the breakfast was outstanding and the whole place is just beautiful and peaceful. The Pool is awesome and has lots of space with natural shade for all guests. The room was spacious, nicely decorated and bed was super cozy.

If you really want to find anything to criticize the bathroom had a slightly funny smell sometimes and for reaaaally noise sensitive people it might be a Problem you can hear the street- but I am usually and I did not mind at all. The main problem was we had to leave after four days!

What a lovely and peaceful place, with so much detail! Great garden with an amazing pool, breakfast can be served on your own private terrace which is lovely. The hosts are super nice! We truly loved our stay there! We would definitely recommend this place!

The breakfast was a bit monotone - a bit more variety would have been great. The pillows in the bed are ok but with feathers would have been perfect

The way the Herdade has been laid out, each room has its own privacy and wonderful views of the area. The owners were super friendly as were their dogs. Breakfast was freshly made and delicious each morning with a lot of food available, wonderful seating areas around the whole place and an honesty bar to enjoy and appreciate the setting. You feel like you are in the countryside but a very short distance to the main town and the surrounding area, maps and information books were available on the area as we did some hiking We also forgot our toothbrushes and again the owners stepped in with a wee travel bag and an additional bag for us to use whilst hiking.

They cannot change the road noise which we did hear although you are a way off the road, really the motorbikes I am not sure being a holiday weekend if it is like that all the time. In saying this we would still return as thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

The welcoming of Julio and Marta was warm and throughout the whole stay we felt like being part of a family. The breakfast was custom made according to our choice and needs, everything was fresh and delicious. Waking up and having the sweetest breakfast surrounded by nature and love made our hearts warm. The room was beautiful, with impeccable details and decorated with great taste. Everything is made with care and love. And the dog is so adorable Thank you for this beautiful stay!

Leaving

Absolutely loved the mezzanine rooms. Beautiful location with stunning views over the valley and an amazing pool. The people were also lovely. Really friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was excellent and generous portions. We felt like we were in the middle of nowhere but it was also very close to Aljezur - great little place - and lots of beautiful beaches and walks in the hills. Would highly recommend if you’re after a peaceful, relaxing and rejuvenating holiday. We stayed for 7 days.

Nothing. We loved it all.

Room was very comfortable, everything we needed - fridge and kettle. Great shower with fluffy, large towels. All made special with a private outdoor space with an attractive aspect to the garden. The very welcoming and generous hosts, Marta and Julius also made complimentary tea and coffee available with with (to my husbands delight) cake and biscuits. Breakfast was also excellent - healthy and substantial. For us it was a perfect stay and we hope to return.

The access road is a bit uneven

The place is extremely peaceful and we felt at home from the very beginning. Julito & Marta are very helpful & welcoming hosts - a wonderful handpicked breakfast has been served every morning on the beautiful terrace. The pool area is a perfect place to calm down and to enjoy the nature.

this is the most fabulous place to stay for so many reasons. the most important one is that Marta and Julio are the most exceptional hosts and obviously being in the hospitality business is what they excel at (although am sure there will be many other things). Both Marta and Julio had thought of everything that one could need or want and somethings that had not even thought about. (beach towels, beach umbrellas, pegs and washing line to hang up wet swimsuits etc) As everyone has already mentioned the breakfasts are perfect and sitting on the outside veranda wit h the fabulous view was a great way to start the day. a great location for exploring the neighbourhood and lots of good restaurants nearby and we were given some excellent recommendations too. I cannot praise our hosts more in terms of how they made us feel so welcome and had looked after us so well. Thank you for the most wonderful 6 days.

The driveway is surprising at first but totally manageable in first gear.
