Everything about this part of our stay in Japan I thought was sensational. Craig (the owner) was an absolute legend and the staff at the lodge were friendly and helpful. It is near Mt Tanigawa (which was a really incredible hike) and we rode the electric bikes provided by the lodge to the main town of Minakami a few times. Breakfast provided every morning, was always great. Views all around were amazing, the locals we spoke to in town were all really friendly. The room we stayed in was great too. There’s numerous spots were you can swim in the very clear stream it’s really peaceful. Lots and lots of beautiful nature to surround yourself with here.

I loved the homely atmosphere of the lodge, the warmth, the incredible views, the magical snowfall everyday. The common area had everything we needed including extra blankets, books, games, a keyboard…and we had access to water, tea and coffee. The communal fridge made it easy to store snacks, and there is a microwave which was incredibly helpful for me as I chose to eat dinner at the lodge. The convenience store down the road has a variety of food and snacks, and plenty of vegan options! The breakfast was amazing each day. Tim was able to make me vegan waffles and muffins everyday morning which was amazing as Tokyo was challenging to find good vegan food. The coffee was barista brewed, and it was second to none. I was so impressed, I had to have two coffees every morning. Craig (owner) was the main superstar this whole trip. He went above and beyond to answer all my questions, provide advice on what to do where to go, and did all the station pickups and drop offs anytime I needed to go out for the day. As it was a spontaneous trip I didn’t have appropriate footwear or extra jackets and gloves. However the lodge was able to provide all these for me to have a comfortable stay. I even built a snowman ⛄️ I will definitely be coming back sooner rather than later! Thank you Craig, and team!
Not much to not like!

The location is around the corner from a great little open air onsen which has a fantastic view of the river, mountains, and stunning autumn foliage. Breakfast was provided, with barista coffee and delicious freshly baked pastries, plus there was a coffee station that guests could use at their leisure. The option to use the lodge's e-bikes free of charge was a great touch, especially considering it's on top of a hill, and about a 30 minute walk into town. The staff were friendly and welcoming, with a special shout out to the owner Craig who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and easy. We will be recommending the lodge to anyone looking for a getaway to "real Japan", to see the amazing local landscapes and sample some of the best of the best local onsen. While my partner and I were travelling as a couple, it is obvious that this accommodation would also be perfect for single backpackers/hikers/skiers, as well as larger groups. All in all, a great stay, which we would highly recommend and hope to visit again in the future.
Nothing that we can think of :)

If you're a coffee lover, nature lover, or just straight up a nice human being lover, please god stay here haha. This was the best experience we had our entire 2 weeks in Japan. Craig is the nicest, most-friendly human being to ever walk the earth. The lodge and its staff are wonderful. The coffee was amazing. We took the trail up Mt. Tanigawa that starts right next to the lodge and it took us 2hrs and 38min to get to the chair lift that will take you back down (bring yen for this). The Italian restaurant right next door is super delicious too. If you want a wonderful experience in Japan, this is the place to go!
Everything about this place is wonderful!

Nice staff. Location is good. They have some really good coffee available to brew by yourself. And seems like it was an old hotel Japanese style reformed, with tatami and futon to sleep on the floor. Its nearby an onsen place so i didn’t tried the shower facilities of this hotel. The breakfast was good and its cozy.
The walls are thin and you can hear other guests talking or walking on the corridor. The window curtains are a little bit thin so the room is bright even at night. Have that in mind if it bothers you.

We love everything about this lodge. A very comfy lodge in a quite neigborhood. It was a very relaxing 4 days. We planned to do some snowboarding however some of us was not feeling well, so we just chill around the lodge, and we really had our recovery time there! Thank you so much Craig, Tim, Palof and Daniella for our wonderful 4 days there. We won’t forget your superb hospitality.

The host was incredibly flexible, friendly, responsive, and looked out for us as we navigated around the city. Buying discounted lift tickets was very convenient. The location was a short walk from a very nice public onsen and a sick hiking trail. The guest room and piano were a relaxing way to end our evenings. The breakfast pastries and coffee were excellent.
Wi-Fi was a bit slow.

Lovely place amsidst the mountains The barista and chef staff are incredibly sweet and friendly. Their coffee and pumpkin spice cake were super delicious. They have plenty of games in the common area and provide coffee and tea as service all day. Their breakfast in the morning is perfect
I really loved the property but the location is indeed difficult to reach without a car. It’s an old house with basic facilities.

Great lodge in the very picturesque place. The idea of accompanying it with the coffee roastery is impressive, and it provides an opportunity of having fresh specialty coffee while having your breakfast here. The lodge has spacious shared place (where one can have some fun) on the first floor, and rooms on the second. People who run this place are awesome and very kind, it makes you want to come here again.
