it was pretty relaxing, lots of plants and trees. I loved playing pool after dinner and sometimes after breakfast. Staff was really nice and attentive. I really needed to have some rest from work and I got it. The restaurant food was good, but I loved the desserts...I can't recall its name, it was mexican, it had a bit of lemon and it was so good...

Chitras or mosquito, as it is not a cold area and there are some fountains and water around very humid plus a lot of vegetation, obviously you need to bring something like Citronela or Off or anything that can help you shush them...specially during dinner.

Wonderful environment, very tranquil. The landscaping is absolutely gorgeous. Our room was a 2-bedroom and it was very spacious. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Will call a taxi for you and answer any questions about area attractions. The breakfast was outstanding with a nice variety of self-serve items and you can order off the menu as well. We had dinner at their restaurant a couple of times and the food was excellent. I loved the birria tacos and even the nachos were next level. Didn't have a chance to use the pool but it was crystal clear. I would absolutely stay here again!

This isn't a criticism it's just more of an FYI. It's on the edge of town and over a mile from the central market area and so it's probably best to use a taxi or private transport unless you're a highly-motivated walker. But on the other hand, the fact that it's on the edge of town also helps give the hotel its appeal. It feels like it's out in the country a bit and that just adds to its peacefulness.

The property is gorgeous. Loved the garden and the views. The room (#6) was spacious, modern and comfortable. We ate breakfast and dinner at the restaurant multiple times. Everything was delicious and the staff was very friendly. We enjoyed the convenience of the laundry service too.

Our room (#6) was right next to the restaurant so privacy was somewhat limited. Our chairs in outdoor sitting area were very uncomfortable. The pool table has seen better days.

Food at the Golden Frog is delicious - we ate dinner there every night. The rooms size, bed and bathroom - all more than expected. Sadly, we did not get a room with exceptional view but we did sit out on the 'porch' to listen to the birds quite a bit. Staff is very friendly and had numerous suggestions for us on things to do (other than some of the more obvious). The lush garden is beautifully manicured.

The Golden Frog is slightly out of town - if you don't have vehicle this could be a problem as walking into town might be a little far for you.

The scenery was absolutely stunning. As someone who loves plants and beautiful gardens, it felt like paradise to me. The staff was amazing and made me feel right at home. I couldn't get enough of the plants, and the location was perfect as it was right near a trail that my husband and I hiked, offering breathtaking views. The breakfast was included and was absolutely delicious. As a welcome gesture, they even provided a drink which I enjoyed with Seco (a local spirit), lemonade, and dried Saryl (Jamaica). Additionally, I had the opportunity to observe "La India Dormida," a famous mountain view that resembles the shape of a woman lying down, famous for its unique history. This was definitely a plus!

Perfect as always, very attentive staff and clean/comfortable amenities. The view from the room is everything. Oh and the food at Volcancito’s is amazing.

The TV in our room didn’t work and we asked to have it checked/fixed but didn’t have anyone help which was inconvenient. It would be nice if for breakfast options there was a better choice for those of us who can’t consume dairy or gluten. The oatmeal on water really doesn’t do it.

I couldn't have been more pleased with the hotel's location for a peaceful and tranquil stay. Nestled in a serene and idyllic setting, this hotel offered the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Situated away from the noisy city center, the hotel was surrounded by natural beauty. The lush, green landscapes and scenic vistas were nothing short of breathtaking. It was evident that great care had been taken to preserve the tranquility of the area, making it an oasis of calm and relaxation. For those who enjoy outdoor activities, the hotel's location was a true gem. Hiking trails and nature walks were easily accessible, allowing guests to explore the surrounding natural beauty at their own pace. It was a haven for anyone looking to reconnect with nature and find solace in its embrace. Despite its peaceful setting, the hotel wasn't isolated. It was conveniently located near local attractions and points of interest, ensuring that guests could easily venture out for sightseeing or cultural experiences. The hotel staff were also more than happy to assist with arranging transportation or providing recommendations for nearby activities.

The location is a little outside of town. It feels remote and is beautiful. The views are absolutely spectacular! We enjoyed our own private deck with a hammock and the complementary breakfast was fantastic! The grounds are gorgeous with lots of beautiful plants and the pool is awesome :).

There were no lamps in the room, which we found a bit odd. Also, there were not many outlets. One thing to be aware of if you book here is that it is an approximate 1 mile walk into town.

One of our rooms was beautiful #2. It had a kitchenette and lots of space with a lovely terrace. The second room,#5 was very basic which worked ok for us as we only went up to the other room to sleep. The grounds are beautiful. The staff was very accommodating. My mother has mobility challenges and had difficulty getting to the restaurant so the staff brought our food to her room.

Although very beautiful, the grounds are a challenge for anyone with a walker, as there are lots of stairs and uneven ground. Parking was quite far from our room.

The rooms are very spacious, clean and comfortable, with a cozy balcony facing the gardens. They have a lounge area with board games and a pool table for entertainment.

The food offered by the in-house restaurant was not that good. We ordered dinner our first night and we opted for other local options for the rest of the meals. Breakfast was included with room rate, and that was tasty with good portions.
