We had the opportunity to stay at the Lawns Hotel for two separate nights on September 23, 2023, and September 26, 2023. The ambiance of the place was just as tranquil as we initially expected, and its proximity to the center of Lushoto (just a few minutes' drive) struck a perfect balance between convenience and a sense of isolation. The hotel itself offers cozy amenities that contributed to a comfortable and pleasant stay. However, beyond the positive aspects of the accommodations, we would like to highlight the exceptional hospitality extended to us by the owner, Alex. His warm welcome and attentive service were noteworthy. During our stay, we encountered a situation where our taxi driver failed to show up to take us to the bus station at 5:30 in the morning. In this challenging moment, Alex went above and beyond to ensure our well-being. He personally took care of us and arranged an alternative transportation method to ensure we reached the bus station safely and on time. This level of commitment and hospitality from Alex was truly appreciated and left a lasting impression. In reflecting on our experience at the Lawns Hotel, we are genuinely grateful for Alex's kindness and the exceptional service he provided during a challenging situation. It is instances like these that define the true character of a place and its owner. We sincerely appreciate the hospitality extended to us by Alex and the Lawns Hotel.

beautiful location with pool and a nice terrasse viewing the value and the mountains. There is a pool with comfortable sun loungers. We were also lucky of heaving a camp fire in the evening and someone playing the guitar. Also, i like the dinner with three different choices. And of course the garden is amazing, we managed to see two of this green chameleons just next to the restaurant.

This is a lovely relaxing old style colonial type hotel with simple but lovely accommodations in separate rooms set in a green garden. There were frequent power cuts but only for short periods. A small amount of noise from the road and local church but not intrusive Staff very friendly and helpful. The pool is a great place to chill out. The Wi-Fi works well most of the time. Good basic food. It makes a great base for short walks around and longer trips into the surrounding county side.

The Lawns was a great place to unwind and relax, with beautiful surroundings and comfortable facilities. I appreciated that drinking water was provided from their own water source, as it helped to reduce plastic waste. Also had opportunities to unplug, because the Internet did not connect in our room. Also had a great massage at the spa.

Unfortunately road works were happening for the first couple of days during our stay and there was noise throughout the day and during my treatment at the spa. Also, when more guests arrived, there was not enough hot water. Though nights are cool, there are no fans available for the hot days. Seemed like a pool was being put in on the grounds, not sure at all, but hope the sustainability and water conservation efforts will continue.

On the first day I mentioned that it was probably the best breakfast in Tanzania! Then the second day wasn’t as good by the third day it declined rapidly. I think it’s because I was the only person there. The rooms are cleaned daily, fresh filtered water provided. The first two days again, amazing shower but the third day there was no hot water, again I assume because I was the only person there. Oh, the negroni’s are really good!

The noise is a lot, but most of it is outside of the control of the venue with nightclubs nearby. However, there is a security alarm that goes off at 3am on the property that wakes you violently.

A lovely small hotel with a colonial feel The rooms are in bomas in lovely hotel gardens. Well situated in a quiet area and able to walk into centre of town in 15 minutes. The restaurant and bar are good and comfortable with good Wi-Fi in the main building and pool. Staff very friendly and helpful. We had our own vehicle which made trips easy to the surrounding countryside but well worth taking a local guide. Trips can be organised by the hotel if needed

Lovely property. The main building is old but well preserved and beautiful. The fireplace lounge is the highlight for me.

The a la carte lunch (burger and chips) was very disappointing. The meat patty was small, bun was oversized and it arrived cold. In past years the food was good however.

I travelled to the Lawns with family and friends for two nights. We were visiting the Lushoto area. We had a super stay at the Lawns. What we particularly liked were: 1. The clealiness and size of the rooms 2. The fantastic food - especially the barbacue on Friday night 3. The really convenient location near to Lushoto town 4. The very friendly staff - especially the owner !

We had a great stay at Lawns, but a minor issue was one of the showers in one of our three rooms. However, the hotel staff solved the problem by providing us with an alternative room, which worked just fine.

Beautiful garden, room and communal spaces with fire place. We did a walking tour with Shamba Eco Tours (linked to the hotel), which was very good. Many chameleons in garden and surroundings

Close to a mosque, so we woke up at 5 am. Bit expensive for what you get.

The lawns hotel is the best hotel in Lushoto. This hotel always gives us a good rest. Friendly owner and staff always provide good service for us. You can always take a hot shower, and delicious dishes are served. There is also the pleasure of tasting organic food at breakfast. There is also a playground for children. Kids especially love fun activities like zipline and tramboline. There is a sauna where you can unwind, and there is a fireplace in the family room, so you can enjoy the elegant atmosphere. It is located very close to downtown Lushoto and above all close to the Irrente view point. Tourist information can also be obtained from the hotel if necessary. You can have the best experience here.
