Safir Hotel Casino has a perfect location if you want to be close to Trieste. It is close to the motor way and yet it is not noisy. The rooms are spaciuos, we even had a coffee machine and water free of charge. Breakfast was ok, with a limited choice of savoury and sweet products. In general we were satisfied with the hotel. It is just 20 minutes away from Trieste, near Opicina which has spectacular views over Trieste and its gulf.

Breakfast could have had more versatile choice, but was satisfactory.

Clean, breakfast very variable like bread, jam, cold cuts, yogurt , omelette, bacon, cereals , fruits, croissants etc ( but not very many options for vegans), really close to Trieste, quiet zone, close to gas station. There were 2 sets of curtains so the room could get very dark during the day if needed. Decent sized room. You get bathrobe, slippers, towels and toiletries. The parking is free and underground with elevator. The reception is open 24/7 so you can check in at any time.

The toilet seat was veeerrry old and used ( it was literally yellow in the front ) and the bathtub was quite chipped. Overall it was good quality over price for one night but some little things could be improved.

The front desk attendants are very friendly and knowledgeable. They spoke very fluent English. We tried the casino and it’s also fun. It’s a good way to pass time. Very good location too, a short drive to the border of Italy and Trieste, the coast lines etc. This is a good alternative to where to stay if you want to visit the beaches in Trieste. It’s also close to Llubljana.

There was a certain stink in the bathroom when we entered, like pee with some disinfectant. They really tried to clean it from the previous guest but the stink stayed a bit.

The breakfast was amazing, losts of different stuff to choose from (no real vegan options though, lot's of meat, eggs, bread, cereal, yogurt, some fruits and veggies). The room and bathroom were big and comfortable (just a bit warm, we didn't figure out how to turn the heater of). After crossing the big roads you could start hiking right away and were in mids the Karst.

The receptionists were very not talkative, sometimes seemed not to speak English. We always had to wait when checking in and out and when asking something. For ecological reasons we wrote a paper saying please not to change our towels but they did it anyway. Check where it is and if you want to stay there (probably good for traveling by car but 20min walking next to the highway to the train station).

There are plenty of free parking lots. The staff was very friendly and assisted us when we needed to change the room due to broken ventilator. We had delicious fish for r´the dinner and excellent brekfast with huge choice of hot and cold meals.

There is nothing special around the hotel, only highway and storehouses. The ventilator in one room was broken but the hotel changed the room immediately so nothing really to complain about.

We needed a parking lot and it has a big parking around and very easy to find. the hotel is big, it has casino inside, but we did not use it.

The reception was a little robotic and not smiling, that could be improved. Coffee on breakfast was very bad, I think the coffee machine was broken. breakfasts are too small for the 4 star, maybe because of not to much people staying in this hotel.

We came just in the middle of the breakfast time, alone in the restaurant ,yet nobody topped up the eggs in a half an hour period. It could be a very good breakfast but the stuff degrade it to just decent. We had an old style thub in our room without the curtain while some other rooms apparently looked more modern.

The hotel room was spacious, warm and the beds very comfortable and clean. The food of the restaurant was very good .

Since we were in transit from Italy, the reception Man was told to us that the restaurant closes ar 9 pm although the schedule displayed in the hotel website was until 22.30. The lack of an english food menu and a non- existence drinks menu The only waitress who serving in the restaurant was tired and bored.

The staff were professional, friendly and polite. The room was beautiful, modern and spacious like a luxury suite. The breakfast was excellent set in a beautiful dinning room. There was secure free parking in an underground garage beneath the hotel.

There was nothing to dislike, everything was perfect, could not fault a thing.

Nice and rich breakfast, very nice staff and helpful. Room was cozy and automated via air conditioning. We asked for making up the room and that was very fast. Place is near highway but the building is well built so you wont even notice. We we very happy to stay here. Pets ale welcomed for a fee per night.
