Chalet was well equipped and beautifully positioned on the banks of the Sabie river overlooking Elephant Whispers. Chalet has lights to use during loadshedding purposes which is a huge plus!

The staff in dining hall weren't very attentive and their service and the overall cleanliness at food stations could improve a little.

The place is located at perfect location and cleaning staff were excellent and very helpful. The staff is very friendly and helpful

The breakfast option was very poor as they kept on running out of food and had to wait. The breakfast menu needs to be changed because spending so many days and eating the same foods. We ended up going to buy food at the restaurant in the mall. The lady who was preparing hot food was not clean at all. They needed to give her a better uniform.

It's easily accessible, located closer to activities. The staff is excellent, very friendly. Its a quiet place. It was nice seeing elephants and hippos whilst dining.

The Tv channels were only Sabc channels and etv and this was disclosed after booking and even for those few channels we spent saturday without signal. Their booking doesn't allow refund so we feel trapped. Also that we were told they dont allow alcohol in the rooms but this was not disclosed during booking. The breakfast was good but it would be great if they can add some fish and chicken to cater for some of us who dont eat red meat and pork. After showering the water takes long to be drained which inconveniences the other person as we had to wait for over 20 minutes for the water to go.

A real gem, with very friendly staff and exceptional views. We have been visiting Elephant Whispers for 5 years and have always admired the lovely lodges across the river. as my partner was going to be 65 whilst we were in SA I decided to look up the hotel, in the faint hope we could afford it. I had the most pleasant shock of my life and a river view lodge was just £78 including breakfast. You wouldn't even get a very poor Travelodge for that in UK. The staff had left a handwritten message on the bed wishing my partner a happy birthday and every single person we came across was lovely. I had read some of the less positive reviews before arriving and all I can say is they either have a much higher standard of living than we do or expect a great deal more. if you are looking for a luxury boutique hotel then it's probably not for you but if you want charm, helpful polite staff, a comfortable bed, good food and the most incredible view then I would highly recommend it.

There was a little road noise during the day but quietened down very quickly after home time. Nothing at all else was a negative

The staff is amazing and so helpful. Special shoutout to Lorraine and Excellent. Absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. Please update your online pictures! Wow I will be bringing my entire family next time.

Breakfast had limited options and was the same menu each morning. The shower drainage was so slow that you ended up with a pool of water while showering. No DStv in this day and age, so disappointing. Please find a way to make it easy for the securitues to identify residents from people coming to dine at the restaurant. Like a car ID card or something.

Clean landscaped grounds with beautiful plants and clean pools. Cozy beautifully decorated cottage with fun art and lighting. The cottage we booked has a small kitchenette and a beautiful view of the Sabie River. we saw birds, hippos and tamed elephants. Car can be parked next to the cottage.

When we arrived we were confronted with an uninterested demotivated disengaged trainee who did not welcome us adequately and created a big mess. Despite her promise, she did not forward our request to the restaurant and thus left a huge mark on our stay. Very unfortunate. The quality of the dinner buffet is mediocre. there is hardly any meat. just chicken drumsticks. The overall variety of dishes leaves much to be desired. We have reported this several times on site to the reception and two managers. Yet things went wrong. The entire street lighting near the restaurant is not functioning. Even if construction takes place during the day, no lighting is dangerous. The WiFi connection in the bungalow and on the balcony of the bungalow is poor and the balconies don’t have complete privacy.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hippo Hollow. The location is close to all the excitement at Kruger National Park, which makes it convenient. Great Facilities like pools , restaurant on site serving good food , security, the hippo visits during dinner were such a treat! Rooms cleaned nicely daily. When we went on the very early game drive, they packed us breakfast packs, which was thoughtful. We also won the giant Easter chocolate bunny..which was fun! Great service , from reception, to waitresses to cleaning and security..very attentive.

The fact that the guests smoke in close proximity to other non smoking guests at the restaurant. We'd also have liked wifi and TVsin the rooms by the river especially for night time use.

The fact that we are not allowed to bring our own drinks.

We loved everything! From the moment we arrived we were made to feel so welcome! The location is central to a lot of things to do, but even just spending some days around the pool or waiting to see the elephants and hippos walk by is enough. The staff members across all teams were so kind, a lot of them have a place in my heart. We encountered some hiccups not relating to Hippo Hollow and the team helped solve the problems twice! You won't be disappointed if you stay here!

The estate is beautiful, and the river is a great attraction with the elephants from the Sanctuary next door that walks on the other side of the river. The breakfast was good and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The pool at the river chalets is lovely with nice chairs.

The chairs on the patio of the river chalets are old and extremely uncomfortable. If you add a pillow on them, then it will help a lot. The loft had a weird pee smell after it rained. The smell wasn't there when we arrived only after it started raining. The tiles are very slippery, especially in the bathroom it can be very dangerous. Some of the furniture has nasty scratches on the wood that can be painted. The showerhead is for very short people, uncomfortable washing your hair, and I am not even that tall (1,70). But I would definitely recommend this lodge.
